Friday was the first day in our new case, Florida vs. Dalia Dippolito. This is the sort of case that scripted crime shows might try to come up with and prosecutors say it all happened in Boynton Beach, Florida. 29-year-old Dippolito is accused of putting into motion a murder-for-hire plot against her husband, Mike Dippolito. The prosecution is trying to prove Dippolito planned her husband's murder with one of her lovers who ended up going to the police with her scheme. The police set up an elaborate sting, complete with an undercover cop pretending to be a hit man, hidden cameras and a fake crime scene.

Douglas Stewart was accused of killing his wife.  The prosecution's primary witness in the murder trial was  20-year-old Xbox enthusiast Richard Spencer, who met Stewart as they played video games online. After months of chatting online and playing "Call of Duty," Spencer considered Stewart his "best friend." His new best friend then asked him to do him a favor – serve as an alibi so that Stewart could kill his wife Venus Stewart.

During Stewart’s trial, Brian Wages testified he had saw a suspicious driver that could have been connected to the disappearance Venus Stewart.  On In Session Thursday, Wages said he told police about a hole he saw next to a farmhouse that could be linked to Venus’s disappearance, but that police never investigated his claim.

A detective in the case, Sgt. Todd Petersen, tells us that Wages gave police two different stories and that he personally inspected the barn.  Petersen will be on In Session tomorrow at 12:15 p.m. to respond to Wage’s claims.

A three-judge panel in Peru has sentenced Joran van der Sloot to 28 years in prison for murdering a Peruvian woman in 2010. He will finish serving his sentence on June 10, 2038.

The prosecution had asked the court to sentence him to the maximum of 30 years.

Joran van der Sloot pleaded guilty in Peruvian court Wednesday to charges of qualified murder and simple robbery in the murder of Stephany Flores on June 6, 2010.

Van der Sloot stood before the panel of three judges and told them he was guilty, and that he regrets his actions. He declared that he wanted to give a “sincere confession.” Doing that could reduce his sentence substantially.

Court Docs: Casey claimed Caylee born after rape

On Tuesday, Judge Belvin Perry released transcripts of two depostions. They detail what pyschologists told Anthony's lawyers before she stood trial for her two-year-old daughter Caylee’s murder. Anthony’s defense team interviewed Dr. Jeffrey Danziger and Dr. William Weitz about their professional opinions on Anthony. The documents have a variety of bombshells such as Anthony's claims that Caylee was the product of date rape, and that Anthony’s father and brother molested her.

George and Lee have both denied those claims, and no evidence was presented in court to substantiate these claims and neither doctor testified in the trial. Wednesday, Orlando attorney Mark Lippman issued a statement on behalf of George Anthony. He said George Anthony was aware of the claims before the trial and has repeatedly denied molesting any member of his family.
