October 5, 2011 Girlfriends? Prosecution needs to stay on targetPosted: 11:18 AM ET
Commentary by Manny Arora, special to HLN The evidence to this point seems very strong in favor of the prosecution. I do worry though that the government is piling on from every angle on Dr. Conrad Murray and sometimes seems to lose focus as to what elements need to be proven to obtain a conviction. Specifically, the government needs to focus on the fact that Dr. Murray obtained the propofol under false pretenses through Tim Lopez's Las Vegas pharmacy.
Propofol is not used outside the hospital setting and we've heard testimony that there are no medical reasons that would authorize the legitimate use of this drug out of the hospital. Going into Dr. Murray's personal life, while arguably salacious, moves the jurors' eyes off the target. Do you agree that yesterday's testimony distracted jurors from the larger issues?
