Father quizzed about missing gas cans in Casey Anthony trial

Posted: 05:09 PM ET

(CNN) - Prosecutors on Thursday questioned George Anthony, the father of murder suspect Casey Anthony, about gas cans he reported missing around the time his 2-year-old granddaughter disappeared.

Casey Anthony's former boyfriend Anthony Lazzaro testified the day before that he had helped her break into the shed at her parents' home on June 23, 2008 - one week after her little girl, Caylee Anthony, was last seen. According to testimony, however, neither Anthony's parents nor Lazzaro knew that the child was missing, as Anthony insisted that she was in the care of a nanny at the time.

Lazzaro said Casey Anthony called him and told him she had run out of gas. They got the gas cans, and Anthony put the gas in her car herself, he testified.

On June 24, George Anthony called police to report the break-in and report the gas cans missing. He testified that he saw his daughter later in the day and argued with her about the missing cans, because he had a hunch she had them, as she had taken the cans before.

Anthony said that when he went to get them out of his daughter's car, she bristled, brushed past him, quickly opened the trunk and retrieved the gas cans, throwing them down and telling him, "Here's your f-ing gas cans."

if they spent almost a half day on gas cans, imagine how long it will take to get through the forensics! this trial will last much longer than 8 weeks. and, how many boyfriends does one ho need?

Tony Gentile   May 26th, 2011 5:26 pm ET

I think George shows great restraints. In response to his using the water hose. I applauld him. Most common men would have done the same

TryingToUnderstand   May 26th, 2011 5:32 pm ET

1. Gas Can - Statement was made that Casey had them...
a. Possibility that she could've rip off a piece of duct tape from gas can & placed it on Caylee.
b. May had thought @ one point to use gas in crime (burn the body)...

2. If the baby drowned... like defense stated.. then...
a. why use the duct tape ??? appear that she was abducted ???
b. And just like in Florida, sadly it's happened many times... the police should've been called.. for it was an accident... no need to cover up...

3. Her Car... miraculously... stopped working during that time period... and she was driving around in a friend's car...

All the above.. does not look good for her... sounds like the Menedez case.. where they blamed everyone but themselves... incredible...

Joyce Strickland   May 26th, 2011 5:37 pm ET

I think that George Anthony scored big over that of Baez. He has seemed to be telling as much of the tructh he can without placeing his daughter in jeapordy. I think she and Baez would say anything, including purgery. George showed his restraint and things look as if the defense is really loosing ground. And even if there was any truth in any molestation, it wouldn't be enough to cause her to murder through intent of neglect, accept for the fact she is evil. She is void of concience, and her baby was getting in the way of her party life.

Shay   May 26th, 2011 6:02 pm ET

QUESTIONS:

1. If Caylee really drowned in the family pool, what possible reason could George Anthony have to cover it up? No reason at all. On the other hand, Casey Anthony would have every reason to cover it up, not the least of which is that she could be prosecuted for child neglect or worse. Better to blame George. She also knew she’d have to face the wrath of her mother. Again, better to blame George.

2. What happened to Caylee’s body after George supposedly found her dead in the pool?

3. Where was Caylee’s body when Roy Kronk supposedly found it?

4. No doubt Roy Kronk was hoping for a reward, but what possible reason could he have to STEAL Caylee’s body, HIDE it somewhere for four months, put it in the woods, and then PRETEND he just discovered it?

5. If Caylee’s death was accidental, why was duct tape wrapped around Caylee’s skull?

6. Why was Casey Anthony completely SILENT about her so-called sexual abuse until AFTER Caylee went missing when she suddenly starts telling people? This woman is not only a consummate liar, she’s a very clever sociopath who will say and do whatever it takes to get what she wants, including throwing her own father under the bus.

Nancy   May 26th, 2011 6:04 pm ET

I want to say Casey lawyers our bringing up her father and brother doing things to her and never said it before but when is it going to be about her daughter and not her life she has not as a mother if i lost or my daughter was dead i be so depressed no tears or nothing in trial even since her daughter was found don't the world see that any mother would still be depressed and the mention of my daughters name i would go crazy she sits there smilen and looking mean but no remorse of her daughter at all and left her daughter with her dad and brother and now if thats all her laywer has to defend why she killed her daughter then send her to the chair now why waiste our tax money on her she not worth it

Lora MacRae-Lopes   May 26th, 2011 6:09 pm ET

I have several comments. First of all, if her story were true, we would have to believe that George Anthony would rather have his daughter face the death penalty, have his name smeared over a sexual assault accusation (which he atleast knew was coming 6 weeks ago), and an affair accusation all of which he could have avoided if he just copped to a accident that "snowballed". I don't believe it. Also, again, if her story were true, surely he would have given her a story to tell that wouldn't have included waiting a month and aa made up nanny, and a seasoned detective would have never placed the body so close to the house and would have known how to make it look like a outside murder. Also, George worked that day- does he strike you as someone that could have had this happen, get rid of the body and then go to work sa if nothing happened?

I think that the most likely explanation is that she overdosed Caylee with chloroform trying to get her to go to sleep so she could go out and that she then tried to cover it up. The boyfriend today said she had trouble getting Caylee to go to sleep.

Amelia   May 26th, 2011 6:12 pm ET

One more thing from today. Why would she pour gas into her car, and then walk away from it? Why wouldn't she drive it home or to her boyfriend's apartment? Who abandons their car in a public parking after filling it up with gas? She told Tony that her father would take care of it. Why, what was wrong with it? She said it was simply out of gas. She put it in there and then walks away? Very strange behavior.

neil moore   May 26th, 2011 6:23 pm ET

It became apparent to me that Casey Anthony was using Chloroform to put this child to sleep. One of her boyfiends remarked in the trial that he had seen Casey become upset with the child at bedtime because she wouldnt settle down and go to sleep .
What better way to put her to sleep instantly than a dose of chloroform .?

Charlotte   May 26th, 2011 6:35 pm ET

.why wouldn't George "go along" with the defenses theory if it meant saving his daughter's life, especially after the loss of Caylee? The worst thing that would have happened is, they both would have spent some time in jail for lying to the police and deposing of the body. Neither would have gotten death and this trial would be over? Maybe George's refusal to go along with this "accident" theory is why they threw him under the bus with sexual allegations?
Just another observation....

Lorraine blum   May 26th, 2011 6:46 pm ET

Someone should be watching out for George. The loss of his grandaughter nearly destroyed him, now he is learning his daughter Caylee is a murderer, not to mention the accusations against him.
He could very well try suicide again, and why not make it look like there is something to hide, or even confess to something he never did if his sociapathic daughter could be released. If he wants to die anyway, why not?

This is OJ Simpson all over again. All evidence points only to Casey's guilt. Why not blame everyone else including her father? Stupid jury's will believe anything if they perceive Casey is a star. Some actually see her that way.
No one seems to care about justice for Caylee and much as getting Casey off. Like OJ, Casey too will end up getting arrested again.

Shelley from CO   May 26th, 2011 6:57 pm ET

George Anthony was questioned endlessly about these gas cans. The defense doesn't dispute they had an arguement over the gas cans. That arguement happened during the first time he saw Casey since he supposedly found Caylee dead in the pool and helped dispose of her body. If that were true, would he really be concerned about some gas cans? Wouldn't they have had more important things to discuss? It's completely insane!

Amy   May 26th, 2011 6:59 pm ET

If George had been involved in hiding Caylee's body and covering up her death, why would he call the police, basically inviting them into the home, and inviting trouble....to report the " stolen " gas cans. Why would he give her the opportunity to say ( in order to deflect and defend herself) that her dad just disposed of her daughter's body....doesn't make any sense to me.

Peggy Mcdaniel   May 26th, 2011 7:06 pm ET

As someone who was molested as a child if it had been my father which it was not and I forgave him. i would not allow my daughter alone with him. I think she is making it up

Silvia   May 26th, 2011 7:25 pm ET

If Caylee accidentally drowned in the family's swimming pool, why was duct tape placed on her mouth as to suffocate her or keep her quiet? Also if Casey was supposedly sexually abused by her father, why would she allow Caylee to live with her grandfather? Wasn't Casey afraid that he also might sexually abuse Caylee? You'd think someone who suffered sexual abuse as a child, would want to protect her daughter, and not allow the same thing to happen to their child. Also, who goes out to a night club when their child is missing, and has a tatoo done that reads "Bella Vita" (beautiful life).

Kim Wilson   May 26th, 2011 7:27 pm ET

Am I the only one who thinks George Anthony's performance under cross-examination showed an individual that was a game player and showed signs of deceit? He had a smirk as he answered many of Jose Baez’s questions, which suggested to me that he was more concerned in getting back at Mr. Baez or he was trying to hide something. Either way, if I were a juror I would think there is something wrong with him.

Lorie   May 26th, 2011 7:56 pm ET

George, you are a curious thing. You obviously hate hate hate the one person who is trying to save your daughter, because you just can't resist being difficult on the stand. You either pretended not to understand the questions or you just didn't answer the question asked. Granted, Baez called you a pervert, so your anger is somewhat understandable.

George impressed me as a sneaky, self-serving, self-rightous snake. There was no reason in the world to call the police about stolen gas cans. He knew Casey took them. I'm just not buying the "woe is me, I'm so sad to have to be telling you this but" routine. Spoiler warning....the Anthonys are playing us all....they are blaming Casey and Casey is blaming mom and dad, and at the end of the day, Casey's jury will be the only one to hang, not Casey.

Donna Norton   May 26th, 2011 7:57 pm ET

Who is the father of little Caylee Anthony? How did the tests for parent hood come about?

Stephanie   May 26th, 2011 8:00 pm ET

My concern if Casey was actually sexually molested during her childhood by her own father, George, why would Casey free safe enough to leave her young daughter, Caylee, day after day in the care of that same man, who could have possibly done the same things to Caylee?? Or did he and we dont know??

Jean   May 26th, 2011 8:12 pm ET

I felt so sorry for George Anthony. I think Jose Biaz went overboard in his questioning. I have seen George's anger in the past and quite frankly didn't like him. However, Jose Biazs' cross examination was negative and almost bordered harrassment. I think Sony is wrong in her assessment.

Rick Lasnier   May 26th, 2011 8:17 pm ET

As this article stated that Casey had taken the gas cans in the past, why wouldn't her father have called her to see if she took them on this occasion before filing a police report? Rick

India in Tucson, Arizona   May 26th, 2011 8:21 pm ET

After that shocking secret Tony Lazzaro came out with today, I'm wondering....................If Casey really loved him, told him this secret she made up .....................about Lee..........................could this be part of Premeditating the death of Caylee so she could have her out of the way...........................and be with Tony Lazzaro if he confessed his love for her? But why put George in it? To see what would stick?

I am mesmerized with this...........Also, yesterday when she was crying, i think she cried cuz she felt bad throwing her dad under the bus like that during opening statement. And then she looked really mad, giving dirty looks to her dad, cuz they didn't play along?

Do you wonder too?

annie v   May 26th, 2011 8:27 pm ET

Does anyone know why the gas cans are so important in this trial?

Julie   May 26th, 2011 9:16 pm ET

Does it strike anyone as odd that a supposed sexually abused woman would put her daughter in the same bed and sleep with her boyfriend????

debra B.   May 26th, 2011 9:35 pm ET

Maybe I missed this but I would like to know why the prosecution did not ask Tony Lazzaro and Ricardo Morales if they ( Tony and Ricardo), was comfortable with Caylee being around and also why they did not ask if the two men had discussed with Casey about her child and the role these 2 men would or could play in the relationship with Casey. Mothers in the past have been known to murder their children when they found out their boyfriends did NOT want children. Is the prosecution asleep? We already know there is no Zannie and the defense has conceeded to this?

louis martin   May 26th, 2011 9:40 pm ET

Am I the only one who noticed that G.Anthony told the prosecutor that he reported the gas gans stolen, "so it wouldn't be considered hearsay later on"

Rita   May 26th, 2011 9:41 pm ET

I believe Casey murdered her daughter. I think while she was dating her two last boyfriends she realized that bringing your daughter around on her dates, staying over nites were a big issue. She finally had met someone that loved her and she him. She decided to use chlorfoam to put her to sleep and realized it killed her.. used duct tape to make sure she was dead. Put the heart on the duct tape as a kiss good bye. She buried her in the back yard till she was able to put her in her car and discard her. She is alot like Scott Peterson.. no feeling, spoiled and a liar. She was in denial.. her baby was dead and there was nothing to bring her back so she partied. Her boyfriend was real.. and life went on for her. Her dad did not moleste her. It was her dream and excuse for needing to be loved.

john   May 26th, 2011 10:49 pm ET

George was god performer today.. You have to really think about his testimony kid of playing in your head. 1) Casey lifts garage door and sees her fathers car in garage if she was shocked that he was home it would be then and her expression would not have been seen. She would have been prepared to see him when walked in house and not look shocked. 2) he has seen caylee every day of her life except from June 16 2008 till june 24 2008.But there discussion is about gas cans not asking where or when he can see her.thats not normal. 3)he claims casey would not let him get the gas cans and ran past him so he would not go in trunk. Well how did he plan to get them him self he has no keys. Casey does no to run actually he says when she opens trunk he is at rear of by the tail lights the tail lights do not wrap around so that put his sights at direct view of the whole trunk. time to hand him both cans with to hands would have gave him ample time to see anything funny. also funny time comment was little odd

denise   May 26th, 2011 10:52 pm ET

i have been following this trial closely. I thought the comments by sunny hostin today were ridiculous. for some reason she is so biased for the defense.. I don't think that george anthony abused casey, but even if he did, it does not mean she can commit murder without impunity. I think this abuse defense is more appropriate for the senticing phase.

Jessica Nashville   May 26th, 2011 11:28 pm ET

I beleive the Defense argument, and have all along. I have thought for three years that whatever happened to Kaylee was an accident and that somehow she had been backed into a corner and had no choice but to handle the situation the way it was handled. Please do not get me wrong, Casey is guilty of something, and that something is not going to the police the day her daughter died. I beleive that George molested Kaylee also, and that he knew if the police were called when she died they would do an autopsy and find she had been sodimised and he could not explain that away especially if Casey started talking, so he did what he had always done, dominiated her and made her think that noone would beleive her and that she would go to jail forever so she agreed to comply with his story. I blame Cindy Anthony. She is a smart woman, and if they were such doting grandparents they would have wanted to know where Kaylee was after 2 days or 4 days or 15 days, not waiting 31 days. Cindy is not a nieve woman. I also beleive that either Lee or George was Kaylee's father. I just want Casey to know that if noone else in this world beleives her but her lawyers, I do because I have lived it too.

All it takes is 1.

Rick Perry   May 27th, 2011 12:27 am ET

I have a theory...I have come to the conclusion that this young woman's NANNY was common Benadryl that she would give her daughter to put her out and the Mother could then lock her in the car outside of the party place or whatever boyfriends house. Something went wrong...really wrong and I think that the impetus for the fabrication begins with the Mothers guilt and grew worse. I see this Mother as a 'poker player' she uses that poker face and I do not buy that she killed her daughter but she cannot display anything BUT total irresponsibility....and she was the FIRST to know of the accidental death and someone else knew also.

Brad Casali   May 27th, 2011 1:11 am ET

Baez certainly isn't delivering like he had in his opening. I was expecting at least fireworks.

There also seems to be an inordinate amount of sidebars in this trial. There had to be one every ten minutes–some lasting around 4-5 minutes.

It all gets very boring.

Cheryl   May 27th, 2011 1:19 am ET

How will the defense explain the search on the computer of the One Tree Hill episode, where the child goes missing and the nanny took the child??

Cheryl   May 27th, 2011 1:22 am ET

Cassey was telling her mother on thing about the whereabouts of Caylee, but was with her boyfriend the whole time.

christina   May 27th, 2011 1:29 am ET

All will see this phsyco will be judged fairly!

Cheryl   May 27th, 2011 1:50 am ET

I do not believe George Anthony sexually abused Casey. I think she is a sociopathic, pathological liar. I've never in my life heard someone lie so much. There is "something not right here" she is a cold-hearted murderer.

nitejanitor   May 27th, 2011 4:36 am ET

I can't blame Casey for saying the F word-her dad is lucky she didn't throw the cans at him or pour gas on him & set him on fire-after all she's pretty wild.

Michele from Cape Coral,Fl   May 27th, 2011 8:02 am ET

I have been following the trial of Casey Anthony, everyone on your corospondents team has been saying that after the opening statement from the Defense team that her father sexually assaulted her, that she has to go on the stand to tell her side of the story...But yet their also saying she has been lying about this crime from the get go ....So what makes you think she Will Not Lie under oath on the stand to save herself from this despicable crime.....

2fat4yoga   May 27th, 2011 9:32 am ET

A Good Mother? A good mother provides for her child; works to support her child; doesnt put herself in jeopardy by stealing, lying, cheating to avoid providing for her child. A good mother who was molested by her father [as a child] would not let her child stay in a house with her [alleged] abuser for one minute. A child loves unconditionally. A sociopath makes a good appearance [as a mother, friend or otherwise].

Beth   May 27th, 2011 9:33 am ET

Casey looked like a good mother in front of others or while being taped/video camera because she knew she was being observed. How was she when no one was around is the big question?!

Liz   May 27th, 2011 9:37 am ET

If this was an accident why would a defense attorney let it go to trial where she could get the death penalty? Why not go to the DA and say she lied because she was scared. She might have gotten some time for not reporting and disposing of body but she would not go to death ow. If she were innocent why would a responsible attorney let it get this far?

Leonard   May 27th, 2011 9:56 am ET

? was the duck tape locked in the shead with the gas cans??????

cassandra   May 27th, 2011 10:05 am ET

A miss trial that is crazy and dum she will never get a miss trial se needs to go back to her cell and she did tis all to her self.if she was not a monster or a phyco she would be with her daughter. she deserves everything she gets.have a fun time in prison or i mean hell casey you deserve everything and her lawyer need to quit she is QUILTY..QUILTY.. let it go.she is going to PRISON were she belongs.

Heather Nelson   May 27th, 2011 10:12 am ET

There is a lot of talk that Casey is a liar, evil and a sociopath and she probably is but according to every witness so far she was an attentive, loving mother. I am waiting for proof that specifically connects her to murder. Presumption of innocence means that I can be a disgusting human being but I'm not necessarily a killer. I am getting tired of hearing and seeing that she appeared happy. She was partying etc. etc. etc. We understand that those behaviors are strange. Now show me how that proves murder. In other cases where mothers have killed even if they were described as good mothers there was information that their behavior had changed before the murders not after.

Kelley   May 27th, 2011 10:14 am ET

Im just curious if anyone else noted that Ricardo Morales seemed very irritated at having to testify? I noticed he rolled his eyes a lot and huffed and puffed with impatience during questioning. Cant say I blame him having to leave his life in another state to come here and testify.

Tanya   May 27th, 2011 10:23 am ET

A question I have been thinking for a few days now is who did the little girl go see everyday for 2 years. I ask this b/c on "jo-jo's" first day of testimony he said in the mornings he would ask Caylee where she was going and she would always say Zanny!

BigJake   May 27th, 2011 10:38 am ET

Despite the defense's "accidental death and subsequent cover-up" strategy, the prosecution must maintain their strategy, which I believe is very effective – a concentric circle approach that begins with friends and family's recollection of CA's behavior and activity in the days following the last time anyone saw young Caley alive. If they had changed their approach, following the bizarre bombshell that the defense exploded during opening arguments, it would have taken them off track. They are deploying an intelligent, calculated and effective strategy, regardless of how repetitive and mundane it must seem to the unseasoned viewers, that is designed to outline the motives, based on CA's desire to enjoy the "bella vita" or good life, that she felt she had been denied due to her getting pregnant at such a young age. Let this be a strong message to all young people out there in terms of protection and avoidance of such a life-changing event, that could have been avoided if only common sense was used before it happened.

victim of a sociopath   May 27th, 2011 11:10 am ET

Casey Anthony......is certainly showing a lack of remorse as she uses her friends checks fraudulently to self serve purchasing lots of items as she goes on with Life as "normal" She is a true psychopath!

Kelly   May 27th, 2011 11:54 am ET

I really hope Casey is not going to fool everyone with her amazing lies,if she walks free she will be laughing at everyone.
People are forgetting that this is a girl/woman who stole money from her own grandparents and from her little girls money box??? do you really think she gives a second thought if she has to put all the blame on her poor father so she can get out of jail?
Casey is desperate she is possibly facing life in prison or the death penalty so she will do ANYTHING to take the blame off her and I think her and her attorneys have come up with this story about the abuse etc. because they know the evidence is so over whelming that that's the only way to possibly get her off.
Casey let her poor mother and father beg her for information to help find Caylee BUT NO she let them suffer for months telling them she has NO IDEA where she could be.
She didn't shed ONE tear for caylee on all those jail tapes and interviews she is only crying now to gain sympathy now. They are only crocodile tears she is " a great liar"

t   May 27th, 2011 12:04 pm ET

Special bond???? is that what made Casey call 911...oh no wait she didn't!!! A good mother would get help for her child no matter what!!!!!!!!!!

riley   May 27th, 2011 12:08 pm ET

If the tow truck driver smelled death....

Why didn't he call the authorities????

Eileen   May 27th, 2011 12:16 pm ET

Glad to see Casey Anthony dropped her "poor victim appearance" she has displayed for the first few days and fixed her hair and makeup.
Do you think seeing her x-boyfriends yesterday inspired her?

Ara Hunt   May 27th, 2011 12:19 pm ET

In all the videos of Casey shopping, there were NEVER anything she bought for a child....where is the baby's father??

My therory: it was stated that Casey had problems at night putting the baby to bed... when she was at her boyfriends house and nights she wanted to party.. she gave her meds to make her sleep, it was said in court that is the only time anyone really saw her get mad and discipline her... I think.. she chloroformed her one night in anger and it went to far....and she did all she could to cover it...tape over her mouth to keep her quiet!

Just a very strong theroy

Sara   May 27th, 2011 12:20 pm ET

I have something to say about women who are supposedly good to their children. Casey could have been a wonderful mom, but when she fell in love with Anthony, Caylee was in the way. You must remember the Susan ? who drowned her two children. She was a very loving mother, also, but her "boyfriend" did not want children, so she drowned them in a lake. This is what happens whens when they fall in love. They is what happens when they fall in love. This is what could have happened to Casey, she fell in love and Caylee was in the way.

Joanne Thompson, RN, BSN   May 27th, 2011 12:23 pm ET

IF, George Anthony molested and/or sexually abused Casey from age 8 thru 13 WHY was he present in the very intimate setting of Casey's delivery room? If Casey wanted her father out of her mother's home because of this abuse, as suggested by her attorney, in order to protect her newborn WHY would Casey have allowed his presence in her delivery suite? Doesn't make common sense...surely all the evidence of Casey's lying and thefts would alert her attorney's that Casey cannot be believed nor trusted.

Mona   May 27th, 2011 12:29 pm ET

In my mind as Casey is aware of Ricardo Morales' facebook and see's the photo of the chloroform quote, and he says Casey would have a hard time getting Caylee to go to sleep, I say Casey used that chemical to put her to sleep so she could enjoy thebeautiful life of the night! Rest in peace little Caylee

Cathie   May 27th, 2011 12:29 pm ET

This is so much like the Smith trial everyone said she was such a loving mother, not until she drowned them in the car. Yates adored her children
There is so many of these cases that happen. Mother's do kill there kids
society thinks or doesn't want to believe it it Happens so many times all are not so news worthy as others.

Casey is a liar, of course her child was feed, clean, had clothes thats
cause Grandma and Grandpa made sure of that. It came a time in Casey's life she no longer wanted to be tied down with Caylee. She was young and wanted to start living her life, unfortunately without Caylee.
She killed her. Never ever was she missing. Abuse by her Dad and brother
that's a defense they always go to when they cannot explain what really happen. She deserves the death penalty too bad it;s not done soon enough.
During the entire time she was missing, she never purchased anything for Caylee when she done all that shopping. Left the car with the car seat. Come on Caylee was killed by her Mother and God will deal with Casey !!!!!

marty   May 27th, 2011 12:35 pm ET

If the baby drawned in the pool, when did Casey Anthony leave home to start her 31 days of being out of contact with her parents?

dorothy   May 27th, 2011 12:38 pm ET

I heard the same thing ...george said caylee said when he asked where r u going? she said to c Zanny??? Zanny doesnt exsist??? also tow guy today says he knows difference bwtn dead body odor & garbage (30 yrs exp) so y when he smelled death on day he checked car...didnt he call police??? could have been dead body in truck? his behavior makes no sense...smells decomp (which he is so sure of) but leaves car and goes on merry way 4 days..sounds like BS 2 me!!! media is hangin this woman no fair! people use common sense!

Sue   May 27th, 2011 12:45 pm ET

If Caylee drowned in the family pool like the defense attorney said is it possible to? That would tell right there if she was in the pool when she passed away. I do not for a second believe that George Anthony had any knowledge of what happen to Caylee.

Tony   May 27th, 2011 12:45 pm ET

There are two constants so far...Casey lied to everyone, parents, her brother, friends, boyfriend, and the police. And she's always portrayed herself as a victim.

Cynthia   May 27th, 2011 12:45 pm ET

I find it extremely absurd that the tow truck driver smelled decomp and never called the police! Boloney. No one smells decomp and doesn't call the police especially a tow truck driver who supposedly has towed other cars where a body has decomposed inside. I am sorry, but his story just doesn't wash. How much did the prosecutor's office pay him for his testimony!!!!!

Sue   May 27th, 2011 12:46 pm ET

My thought was to test the shirt Caylee was wearing for chlorine to tell if she was in the pool.

Nick   May 27th, 2011 12:51 pm ET

George is doing a good job, and that's because he is telling the truth and doesnt have to sit around and think about what he is going to say. I feel sorry for him.

Jose is trying hard to discredit George and can't. I'm sure if George mistates one thing, a date or a time, the jury will forgive him... Let's not forget... With all that George has gone through, I'm sure he cant remember every single little thing.

Jo Cote   May 27th, 2011 12:59 pm ET

When the check cashing employee testified to the odor from the dumpster being a normal dumpster odor, did either the state or the defense inquire when the dumpster is emptied?

Ceil in Ohio   May 27th, 2011 1:01 pm ET

As a retired law enforcement professional with over 27 years experience, while predisposed toward cynicism of defendants, I have been in total agreement with Sunny since Baez opening statement. I am saddened by the heat she has taken over her position because in my opinion her position demonstrates her ability to keep an open mind and process what is presented based on her knowledge & experience. The predisposition by law enforcement to discard potential victimization in the furtherance of a percieved end can border on criminal. Sunny has never said Casey is innocent, she's merely identified the presentation of information that can create reasonable doubt. I TOTALLY AGREE! This trial is riveting from that standpoint. I am completely mezmerized & am thankful for Sunny providing balanced reporting. Never say never folks!

Carole   May 27th, 2011 1:04 pm ET

Did I hear Casey Anthony did not graduate from High School? I noticed thr majority the the young people she associated with all have college degrees or are working on their education, and they all seem to have decent jobs. Could it be the reason she was not employed and didn't appear to even be looking is because the only jobs that would be available would be minimum paying jobs? The lying seems to want to bolster her standing.

ann cohn   May 27th, 2011 1:06 pm ET

If Casey goes on the stand, all they have to do is ask her to describe Mr. Anthonys private parts, and if she cant then the jury will know its not true...If she can then they will know its true......thank you

Gail   May 27th, 2011 1:10 pm ET

I have a question: If the towing man recognized the smell from the car as a decomposed body," Why didn't he call the authorities?"
Also, the second 911 call when Casey talked to the oporator she said she talked to Caylee that morning and she was fine.

Evie   May 27th, 2011 1:11 pm ET

Evie White
I hope Sunny Hostin will read this message,,\
i have seen you and In Session for awhile and always think you are well balanced and fair but also bold and stuck to your convictions....however i was very shocked by your opinion about
George Anthony being a "bad, angry man". After all the hell he went through with the media and mobs, to think that you can even imagine how that would feel is rediculous!!! But to make the statement that you would NEVER react that way...to assume you can put yourself in a position to even phathyom what it feels like to be victimized like he was..in midst of grieving over a missing loved one...very Archie Buckerish...i am shocked and disappointed.

frannie   May 27th, 2011 1:12 pm ET

Been following the case for a long time. One thing stands out in my mind. Everytime George & Cindy were interviewed on various shows, he never spoke or answered unless he looked at her first. Do they both know more than they are saying? appears to be a totally dysfunctional family.

Pamela   May 27th, 2011 1:14 pm ET

Has anyone thought of the possibility that Casey buried Caylee in the back yard to start with then dug the body up and moved it? This is why she borrowed the shovel and the dogs hit on the smell in the backyard of the Anthony home. This would explain why nobody smelled any foul odor from the car right away.

DEBBIE DAVIS   May 27th, 2011 1:19 pm ET

The smell in the trunk is very confusing, but I think she borrowed the shovel & burried Caylee under her playhouse temporarily. Remember the dogs did hit on hit on that area.

Laura   May 27th, 2011 1:19 pm ET

As for the car not smelling on the 24th, did it occur to anyone that the body was hidden somewhere else and then moved via the car and that's why the car smelled later? I think she buried her in the woods by her home and then moved her and that's why she needed the shovel and not for very long...just to conceal her until she found a better place. The reason the dogs hit on the yard in at least 2 places was she laid her there while she went to dig a hole. She obviously put her out of sight, like inside the doll house, until she was ready to move her to the next place. The place where she buried her may have become too visible so she moved her and used the car and that's why it smelled then. I don't like how the defense is calling the cadaver dogs unreliable when they're used in bombings and crash sites to find other bodies and missing people who are alive! I can tell you a cadaver dog would not alert in my car or backyard!
She's guilty and is using her dad as an excuse. As for Lee, that's another bunch of bs! Her daughter is named after herself and Lee for goodness sake! She will use anyone to get off.

Annie   May 27th, 2011 1:19 pm ET

In Session wonders about the conflicting testimony regarding the odor in the car. It's simple!
Caylee's body was first buried in the Anthonys' back yard – where cadaver dogs later alerted – and then dug up with the neighbor's shovel, put in the car and moved to the "dump" site. Casey's friends were in her car before she moved the body, while her parents smelled the odor after the body had been transported

amy   May 27th, 2011 1:20 pm ET

Wow what a case you know i have watched a lot of cases but this one is crazy it seems to me there hole family has no feelings it looks as if we will never no the truth, and for her father the signs are all there that he knows something weather it is her death or toushing her he is guilty of something, who would try to kill them selfs without seeing justic, and the mother she is down right up to something just watch her since this has happen she turns hers and every bodys words aroud she cant remeber saying anything the family is a mess, what happen to doing a lie detective test i only wounder cause there are people with life in prison because of these test why are they not useing that, besides wouldnt it be cheeper then listening to all these made up storys. This is a true eye opening for a lot of people watch who you know because you never no what they have done or are planning to do, the sad part is somebody is this family of hers knows something no mather what they at this point should all be in jail or prison how dare them play with this childs life, I lost a son these people are sick very sick this little girl diserves the truth not us Caylee .

Melanie B.   May 27th, 2011 1:20 pm ET

My question and comment is Casey dumped her car because it was out of gas but yet she went shoping that day. If she had money why didnt she put gas in her car....Ill tell you why....the smell was overwhelming of death so she dumped it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cathy bruner   May 27th, 2011 1:20 pm ET

please vinnie mention that the cadaver dogs alerted on the childs playhouse in the anthonys back yard. I believe that casey first hid the childs body there and then later transferred it in the car. this would account for the lack of smell in the beginning.

mary   May 27th, 2011 1:21 pm ET

They can have people claim she was a good mother until the cows come home. I have two words for you, "Susan Smith". She was a good mother until she drowned her kids. No one saw that coming. Her family believed her. She had no real reason to do it either. She just did not want them any more and wanted a new life with a man other than the children's father.

barbara   May 27th, 2011 1:21 pm ET

Is it possible that Casey arrived at her parents to pick up the body on the 24th? Could the baby been hidden in the play house in the back yard at that point? I can't see that anyone would have really looked in there prior to the revelation that Caylee was missing.

DB   May 27th, 2011 1:22 pm ET

Did everyone forget , That Casey was telling everyone that here car Smelled from road kill, during the time period in question, why not bring this in front of the jury? would it not undermind the defense contention that know body smelled anything, WELL CASEY SMELLED IT>

leonie from Hollywood FL.   May 27th, 2011 1:22 pm ET

If Casey's friends said they knew Caylee, she also met some of those friends at the birthday party which was held on June 20th,could it be possible they met Caylee after the 20th.Did the autopsy says the baby died before the 20th?If she died as a result of an accident why didn't they call the police at that time and last but not least the attorney kept asking if Caylee looked hungry or malnourished,Casey was not responsible for Caylee financially it was her grandparents.

Paul   May 27th, 2011 1:24 pm ET

It should be noted that Johnson Towing is the specific contracted towing agency for Orlando Police, the city of Orlando, Orange County, Orange County Sheriffs Department, OIA, and several governmental agencies in the Central Florida area.....hmmm why would he say and testify as he did???? Questionable...to me at least.

Sue DeMonte   May 27th, 2011 1:25 pm ET

Here is a thought. Maybe Caylee did drown in the back yard pool and Casey and her Dad (George) found her. Then she was buried in the back yard. But Caylee's body was moved at a later date down the steet to that field where she was found. That would explain why the dogs hit on the back yard but her body was not found there and it might also explain why Casey's car did not smell around the 16th of June but did smell of a dead body later because she was transported in that vehicle. This is just a thought

Kimberly Roberts   May 27th, 2011 1:25 pm ET

I am just wondering why no one seems to think that the tears that Casey Anthony is sheading are fake? I am watching In Session right now and it keeps being said how the jury had to look at her when she was crying and how she was wiping the the tears away while the jury looked at her during the sidebar. Well, she wants people to think she is upset! She is being tried for the murder of her adorable, innocent 2 year-old daughter. Of course she is going to try to appear to be upset and in distress. She said herself that she was a good liar and good liars can fake emotion just as easily!

Dan Scheiern   May 27th, 2011 1:33 pm ET

Casey is expert at lying in both action and words Look at Scott Peterson. . Same thing. She was all show when people were around. Nothing this woman says can be trusted. Nothing.

Chickadeedoodah   May 27th, 2011 1:35 pm ET

Now that we're getting to the "odor" part of the case, early in the testimony, I believe I heard a comment made by George of the gas can being placed on a small freezer in the garage...key word being freezer. In my own personal experience with raw meat trimmings, I will place the scraps in a plastic bag and put in the freezing compartment of the refrigerator. Then, when trash day comes, I remove the scrap bag from the freezer and put in the trash can. There is no odor left in my trash can. If in this instance, Casey has a plan to abandon her vehicle, what is to say Caylee's body had not been placed in the small freezer in the Anthony's garage; Sometime later and several days after she had transported friends who didn't smell any odors in the vehicle, Casey returns to the garage, removes the body from the freezer, places it in the trunk and takes a drive, looking for a dump site. Not finding anything the first day, she has to retain possession of the vehicle and cannot take the risk of returning the body to the freezer. How long does it take a frozen body to return to room temperature and start the process of decomposing; temperature and humidity have to be taken into consideration. A frozen body in layers of plastic will form condensation on the inside of the packaging as it thaws. With this process taking anywhere from 24-72 hours, Casey has to act quickly to dispose of the remains, once she becomes aware of the odor emanating the inside of the trunk. The dump site is found, the body is removed from the trunk and abandoned at said site. Casey then abandons the vehicle with its odor, the result of seepage from the thawed body saturating the trunk compartment carpet. The vehicle sits in the heat of the day for four days before being removed to the impound yard. By then, the body fluids have evaporated and nothing is left but the pure stench of death and rotting meat.

Course, this is just my opinion...

Patt   May 27th, 2011 1:37 pm ET

Does a sexual abuse victim feel it is okey to get into bed with different men with her beloved daughter there? Two men so far have said that Casey and Calley slept with them....that bothers me as the ultimate in poor poor judgement and sends chills down my spine. Nothing was said about was going on between Casey and her boyfriends, but inapproiate whatever it was and I'm surprised no one has questioned this behavior.

yvonne tucker   May 27th, 2011 1:37 pm ET

when the dogs hit on the play house could not the baby be there till she could find a place to put the baby, that is the reason the smell was there at times in the car and not at time it would only be there after the baby was put in the car

Sue   May 27th, 2011 1:39 pm ET

I don't think for a minute that Casey is not guilty of a thousand lies, hiding her Daughert's dead body and going on in her life like nothing ever happened. Not even sure if I think Caylee's death was an accident or murder BUT I feel her Dad George is also apart of this in a big way.

April   May 27th, 2011 1:45 pm ET

What does her being a good mother have to do with anything. Wasn't the girl in the Carolina's (Susan) a good parent also, she drowned her children and just like Casey she is blaming someone else. How her parents and brother must be hurting because of her "new lies" in Court.

Pat C.   May 27th, 2011 1:48 pm ET

I agree with everyone else's comments about the body being moved, so I'm not sure why the In Session commentators are so worried about the smell not being in the car when Casey was riding around with her friends after Caley disappeared. If Casey had a plan to kill the child, she would also have made a plan to dispose of the body – and the plan would not have been to just drive it around in her car trunk in the Florida heat. She asked the neighbor for a shovel. She could have tried to bury Caley, left her somewhere in a very shallow grave and then gone back to get her later if she got worried someone would find her when her Mom began cranking up the heat about seeing the child. Or, her boyfriend was gone for awhile; for all we know, Caley could have been in the refrigerator at the boyfriend's apartment. The smell in the car could have been caused when she moved the body in July, maybe closer to her house so she could to find a time to dig a deeper grave.

Also, I am wondering if the "beautiful life" tatoo could have been a memorial to Caley instead of a comment about her own life if this was an accident gone wrong; i.e., trying to put her to sleep at night with cholorform and overdoing the dosage.

Melanie B.   May 27th, 2011 2:00 pm ET

Casey's demeanor did not waiver because Caylee's death was no surprise to her....she planned .....executed her plan and part of that plan was to show now change so noone would be suspicious....she is a real piece of work !!!!!!!!!!

Lana   May 27th, 2011 2:21 pm ET

Sonny, I think you are wrong about this case no one said she wasn't a good mother. We can see from the pictures that she loved her daughter and took care of her in the presents of others but just maybe she had another side to her that wanted life free of responsiablity and children I think that was the case. Yes I think George did right in calling the police about the gas cans because someone broke in his (locked) shed. He was thinking someone may commit a crime with them and it would be traced back to his address anybody would have done the same thing key words shed was locked. If she put gas in the car why not drive the car home, to boyfriend house or where ever she wanted to go oops she couldn't cause she couldn't take smell of her daughters dead body.

Shay   May 27th, 2011 2:27 pm ET

This woman is not only a sociopath, she's a very clever sociopath. Immediately after Caylee disappeared, she started methodically planting the seeds for her own defense in the event she was arrested for murder. Among other things:

* She suddenly decides to "confide" in her boyfriend that she was sexually abused by her brother, Lee. (Why, after all those years, would she reveal this 'terrible secret'?)

* She makes a point of telling a friend that she must have run over an animal because her car smells so bad.

* On the same day, she places a bag of garbage in the trunk and then abandons her car, hoping someone would be stupid enough to think the garbage was causing the stench.

* Once she's arrested, she "confides" in a total stranger (an inmate) that she was sexually abused by her brother, Lee.

* Over the nearly 3 years she's been in jail, she expands her tale of sexual abuse, but switches her story from her brother Lee to her father George.

All of the above are only a small part of this woman's incredible web of lies. No doubt as the trial continues, we'll see many, many more. Obviously, Jose Baez has swallowed all her baloney hook line and sinker. I just pray the jury has more sense.

Jason Schultz   May 27th, 2011 2:31 pm ET

I don't understand this whole car smell thing. You have a bag of garbage in there for awhile in the Florida heat! I don't believe that little girl was ever in that trunk. Casey's obviously too smart for that. I can't believe that the garbage guy got off that easy from the defense. I've had garbage in our own house that's been forgotton and you get home from work and it smells of a dead body or dead animal!

Clay   May 27th, 2011 2:34 pm ET

It is really unbelieveable to me that George and Cindy (particularly George) sit in the courtroom and listen to testimony from others about interactions with them, and then they are called as direct witnesses time and time again to reinforce witnesses that just testified about that interaction??? How is that not going to be perceived as a pretty huge judicial error if/when an appeal comes???

Clee   May 27th, 2011 2:36 pm ET

Why would the prosecution allow Casey's dad to stay in the court room while the tow-yard owner testifies? Wouldn't they-prosecution want to see if his testimony-the dad-is consistent with the tow-yard owner?

roxie lawson   May 27th, 2011 2:37 pm ET

RE: Tattoo. Brooks is trying to vilify Casey for this tattoo. With Vince's correct interpretation of being "Beautiful Life", perhaps this was Casey's tribute to the "beautiful life" that Caylee had led.

cathy bruner   May 27th, 2011 2:38 pm ET

casey doesnt even bat a lash when her father talks about spending over 500.00 to get her car out of tow. the time off from work , she doesnt even care. she seems very cold.

Pat N   May 27th, 2011 2:43 pm ET

I agree regarding the tattoo – "Bella la vita" – Vinnie mentioned it translated toBeautiful Life...could that possibly mean Casey felt like Caylee had a "beautiful life" and this was a way to memorialize her? And not that it meant Casey was enjoying such!

Sue   May 27th, 2011 4:22 pm ET

George Anthony is GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY! This man is an x-cop who has smelled dead bodies before and says you can never mistake that smell. He has not seen nor talked to his Daughter in 3 weeks and has not seen his Grandaughter in 31 days he goes to pick up the car smells a dead body and does not call the police BUT he calls the police and fills out a police report when his gas cans are missing. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Lisa M.   May 27th, 2011 4:49 pm ET

My heart almost stopped when I heard George Anthony had testified that he saw "clothes" in the trunk. I wondered if he didn't actually see their laundry bag in the trunk and assumed it was clothing when it could very well have been Caylee.

sally   May 27th, 2011 4:59 pm ET

When Casey left her car at the check cashing place. Who picked her up from that spot? Did she call a friend or take a taxi from there?

decafgrandmom   May 27th, 2011 5:49 pm ET

Casey wasn't a good mother, to call her a good mother is an insult to hardworking single mom's who sacrifice to provide for their children. It was easy for her to be playful with Cayleel, she had a free roof over her head, a free car, free food, free clothes, not a worry in the world until Caylee became inconvenient – I think this deceptive psychopath came up with a solution, to chloroform the child, probably keeping the unconscious child in the trunk of her car while she spent nights with Tony. The duct tape was to keep Caylee from removing the chloroform til she was rendered unconscious, but Casey probably overdosed the child & she died...

Johnson   May 27th, 2011 6:12 pm ET

Even if the theory of her being abused as a child and having to cover up her actions because it's merely how she was raised to act like, that doesn't cover up why she shows absolutely no remorse or discomfort of her child being missing those 31 days.

Sure, IF she was abused and is used to acting a certain way around her parents, then she'd do so. But it doesn't explain her actions and behavior during the days she was away from her family. She shopped, partied, got tattoo's, and ultimately didn't show any signs of discomfort to anyone she was around. Any loving mother would have done something after 31 days even after having been abused as a child. A simple case of trying to tie the father with gas cans and the tape on them holds absolutely no base to it. Ultimately Casey has 100x more evidence on her that she indeed, did cover up her child's death, whether it was an accident or not, a crime was covered up.

sq   May 27th, 2011 6:21 pm ET

i AM confused watching this trail.I still believe that Casey is guilityand I trying to figure out if George molested Casey .How is is it for the dad and thebrother had to be tested to see if they were Caylee father sickening. It could be true, that family is sick all of them .They say the mother Cindy is crazy I will keep watching.

Elke   May 27th, 2011 6:26 pm ET

When they say Casey was such a good Mother, well if she learned how to lie at an early age, she learned how to hide feelings. She therefore would hide her real feelings toward her Daughter, especially in front of other People.

irma reyes   May 27th, 2011 6:47 pm ET

if it's so true that brother and fathrt molested her how can she hug and greet them as if though everything was ok. i think that in the beganing they were willing to do anything to protect their daughter but when Bieaz came out with blameing george it's going to back fire and george and cindy are going to go for saveing their name, i have spent 30 years in california prison with plenty of women who hae killed their kids and live vry say as if it were just another day including Diane Downs Casy killd that baby she knows it and my only wish is she was in california

Connie Marsing   May 27th, 2011 7:45 pm ET

Would someone please give a description of Sociopath so that the viewers can understand why Casey could look like a good mother, and yet commit such a heinous crime. I looked it up and I also studied psychology in college. Casey fits the profile to a T, the promiscuity, the lying, using people to her advantage, etc.... Rember Scott Peterson, he looked the picture of a happy loving husband to everyone in the family. we remember how that turned out.

smokey66   May 27th, 2011 8:36 pm ET

Baez knowing full well that Casey is guilty is intentionally doing the worst job possible. Baez is counting on new evidence that may somehow help Casey between the time she is found guilty and a new trial is granted on apeal do to incompetent representation. Casey, Baez is offering his service for free, remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for"! I would allow Baez to represent me in a dog bite case.

DouglsP   May 27th, 2011 9:07 pm ET

The prosecuter needs to make the point that Casey didn't feed Caylee or provide for her. Casey's parents did, the only other way Casey might be able to do that is if and when she stole from her grandma or friends. How could Casey care for Caylee when she didn't even work.

smokey66   May 27th, 2011 9:29 pm ET

Prosecution: Mr Anthony if your daughter would have asked to borrow a shovel, would you had asked her why? If your daughter told you that she wanted to dig up a bamboo root, would have you offered to help her? As a seasoned law enforcement officer, do you think that if a person who wanted to get away with murder, they would leave a decaying body in a trunk of a car creating the stench of death?
Casey didn't dig up a bamboo root, she didn't want to borrow a shovel from her Father because he might ask why she needed a shovel. If George Anthony wanted to get away with murder he surely could have done a better job to say the least. If the prosecution requested a bathroom break, Baez would object. I think you might see the Judge crack and go after Baez like Nicholson went after Nurse Rached in "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" before the trial is over. Baez, you got your 15 minutes of fame, now let your team handle the rest of the case.

Jackie   May 27th, 2011 10:03 pm ET

Who's the baby daddy? George is a detective meaning he is very knowledgable on all criminal ways and means which ever way you want to look at it. Remember-if it was you on trial...INNOCENT untill PROVEN guilty. As in elections the $$ should be even. How is it Fair that one side has unlimited funds. It's not! Where do I go when in session is over and there are 3 more hours I miss?

Don   May 27th, 2011 10:23 pm ET

I wonder how Baez is going to feel when he loses this case and Casey throws him under the bus by accusing him of some type of sexual harassment and he forced her to go a long with this lie. If she chose this scorched earth defense and will destroy her family and everyone else, Baez is next.

Kaye   May 27th, 2011 11:52 pm ET

I have not listened to the being a good mother bit to much and do not put much thought into those comments. Most State's Attorney's don't care if you are badger or confused, this is what they want but the judge is letting George Anthony dictate his own questions and answers. George is arrogant and very decietful. Most people know that a lawyer has the right to power drive questions to a witness but yet this court is coddling George Anthony. Something else I noticed is Cindy Anthony is taking notes. Who is to say she goes out to the witness's after court and reports all the statements that have been made to the other people outside the court room. It is time Jose power drives the questions to George and George needs to stop acting like he is the victim when we all know he is not. I guess I see more than most as I try to review each side closely. Points to Jose today.

LIN   May 28th, 2011 8:21 am ET

wouldn't the state have fingerprints on those gas cans and on the tape on the one in question with the longer tape attached/And neither george nor cindy will turn on their casey...

carole Barry   May 28th, 2011 8:46 am ET

Here is a red flag to me. At one time Casey wanted to give Caylee up for adoption is this right. Seems to me she did not want to be a mother then. What happened with that????

Mary   May 28th, 2011 12:15 pm ET

I dont understand why there wasnt a ey to shed in the house? if he knew she ha taken them b4, why didnt he just give her a key at least, she was living there, I doubt she helped do anything outside.

TERI   May 28th, 2011 10:24 pm ET

I feel George is hiding something. He becomes so terribly outraged over questions about gas cans and the odor, but when asked point blank if the reason he didn't call the cops over the smell was because he already knew Caylee was dead, he just answers that question, no, like he wad turning down an offer for a coffee refill. He will call the cops over mission.g gas cans, but not about a strong odor of decomposition in the car? He remembers right down to the last stitch Caylee was wearing June 16, but he can't remember which gas can he used at the tow yard? He loves Caylee so much, but in all his and Cindy's testimony so far, she was the only one actively searching. Maybe because he knew, just as Casey did, there was no need to search?

Larrry   May 28th, 2011 11:15 pm ET

One thing this trial seems to be proving. The whole Anthony family was more than disfunctional. What a strange lot. Casey may be guilty of something but George seems to be hiding something also. Why would he call the police when his gas cans were missing when he knew that casey had taken them before? I think the fat lady has not yet sung and when she does George won't enjoy her song..

Larrry   May 29th, 2011 10:48 am ET

Why is George so scared of Baze? Could it be George is waiting for Baez to drop the other shoe? George may not have had anything to do with Caylee's disapearence directly but I feel he's hiding something.
And who was that sweet Cindy lady whom we all saw on the witness stand. Surely not the one we've seen up till then.

Larry   May 29th, 2011 11:01 am ET

The best witness for the defense so far has been GEORGE ANTHONY. Yes I said DEFENSE. The man comes across as hiding something.

donna   May 29th, 2011 11:17 am ET

i hope if casey takes the witness stand someone asks her what she
needed a shovel for. she will probably say that she did all the yard
work. if one thing in this whole mess is true its that george loved that
little girl. i cant imagine him putting her in a trash bag and going to
work and acting like nothing happened impossible

Dawn Lewellyn   May 29th, 2011 12:22 pm ET

It seems to me George wanted to talk to Cindy before he commented on the smell in the trunk because the tow guy commented on Cindy divorceing George. Yes he made a mistake but you will not get me to believe that George found the grandchild drowned and yelled at casey . After seeing the her mother Cindy up testifying i think casey wanted to be out on her own this is more about the relationship of her mother then her father! but that would be motive so defence has to lay it on George

Sadie   May 29th, 2011 12:30 pm ET

You can't beleave anything that comes out of casey anthony's mouth because everytime her mouth is moving she is lying and now she has beaz beleaving her lies and now he is lying to the court, this does look bad for the both of them, Really the dad I mean come on really, I don't think so, i actually fell for her parents, look at everything they are going thru first thier granddaughter and now their daughter, cindy was right when she said to casey you put yourself here in jail, noone else and that is true casey did this to herself and her family, noone else, she is guilty I do not beleave that she was abused or that her dad was there that day or hid the body that is all of her lies I just hope to god that the jury sees right thru the lies because if they don't , they are just as stupid as casey's defense team, soo lets see how smart or how stupid they are, I give alot of credit to judge perry for putting up with the defense when they have an opening with such a really big, huge lie like that to tell the jury if I were that judge I would have thrown the defense out of the court room so thumbs up to judge perry I really like him he is really cool and he don't play games,

This is all a big waste. The nut basket killed Caylee and she should burn, but she won't. It only takes one juror to mess up the process like that one black woman who said she can not judge people and then they let her stay on the jury. That one will be the trial down fall.

This nut basket will be back on the street by August and having a good old time. Our system sucks.!!

Casey left the house on Monday with Caylee....drove around her neighborhood until George left to go to work (see cell phone records). Came back to the house, dosed Caylee with chloroform to put her to sleep. She put the duct tape over her eyes, nose and mouth. The effects of the chloroform, combined with the inability to breath, ended Caylees life. Casey then wrapped her in the Winnie the Pooh blanket, placed her in the trunk of the car, and returned to Tony's house (Caylee still in the trunk.) She returns the next day to her house, borrows the shovel from the neighbor, trys to bury Caylee in the backyard near the playhouse but the soil is too hard. She returns Caylee to the trunk, returns the shovel, and drives down to the woods, dumps Caylee, and life begins for Casey.........Bella Vita! Casey should rot in HELL for eternity!

Casey Anthony is making all of these molestation accusations about her Father, why would she leave her daughter alone with him? I would think that the nano second that one's child goes missing, no so call post traumatic "being molested" could keep a Mother from calling 911 and scream, "I CAN'T FIND MY DAUGHTER"!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point, the people I most feel sorry for, are the jurors, for having to endure Baez's cross examinations. Without a doubt, Casey will get a new trial on appeal for lack of competent representation. Baez's only objective when questioning George Anthony was to get him to explode. I think George did good, he showed less frustration with Baez than the Judge. This will be the first trial in history that the bailiff has to pull the Judge off an attorney.

If my father had molested me, my child would not be near him, let alone living in the same house.

I wish the prosecution would have asked Lee Anthony who he was talking about when we kept referring to CMA" at Caylee's memorial service. And if he was talking about Caylee, why didn't he just say her name???

Lee and George have exhibited bizarre behavior in the past couple of years, but I think it is somewhat understandable since they know Casey could be put to death for this. Neither of them would want to feel that they were responsible for Casey's death.

The abuse allegation is just a pathetic attempt by the defense attorneys to try and get the jury to feel sorry for Casey.

Now that some of the facts are coming out. there are 2 dates in my mind that we have no idea what Casey was doing or where she was. The 25 and 26 of June. Since the car did not smell of a decomposing body on the June 24 when Casey brought the gas cans back, then where was Caylee and was she still alive? Was she in a bag in the trunk and she had just died. That would explain why Casey did not want her dad to look in the trunk.

Side note- If she died on the June 16 and was in the car, the car would have smelled on the 24th. If she died on the 16, and the body was not in the car on the 24 or before, then where was her body until the 25th when the car obviously started smelling? The little body had to be in the car after the 24, otherwise the car would have smelled when she returned the cans. My guess is, Caylee's little body was in the car from the 25 to the 27, the day she ditched the car.

The only explanation I can come up with is that she had just killed her before she and Tony stole the gas cans. Ah...maybe she was in the trunk of Casey's car and Casey ran out of gas before the body started decomposing. She and Tony filled it up with gas and Casey went on her merry way.

On the 25th and 26th she drove around trying to figure out how to get the smell out and what to do so she purchased a box of baking soda and used fabric softener sheets. When that didn't work she decided she needed to get rid of the body an ditched the car.

I also wonder who picked her up after she ditched the car?? Who picked her up and from where?

She spent the 27 and 28 at the beach with Tony and continued to party until her Mom found the car and Casey on the 15th.

Sue   June 1st, 2011 10:51 pm ET

Pamela, I agree with you. I think Caylee was buried in the back yard from the time of her death and Casey came back and got her sometime before the 24th. I think she was in the car when she returned the gas cans, but had not been in there very long and that is why George did not smell the decomposing body in the car. That would also explain why she pushed George out of the way to get the cans out of the car. She then drove around the 25 and 26, bought some fabric softener sheets and baking soda trying to get rid of the odor. That didn't work so she took her to the woods and then ditched the car by the dumpster.

Sue   June 1st, 2011 11:15 pm ET

Chickadeedoodah I agree with you. One thing that does not make sensethough is why would Casey have put Caylee's little body in the Anthony's freezer knowing that they might discover it? Also, the cadaver dogs hit on the back yard. So many questions still not answered.

Sue   June 2nd, 2011 1:38 am ET

Once George is ruled out as not being Caylee's father, maybe we can get to the truth. If he was Caylee's father, then we know Casey has told the truth for once. Maybe this is the Bombshell evidence that Baez has been talking about. If it is, why hasn't he just come out with it?

Taylor   June 3rd, 2011 10:06 pm ET

Although I do believe Casey accidentally killed her daughter with chloroform, I have to be suspicious because how is the defense going to explain the searches about a broken neck, death, and house hold weapons on the computer? Also during the jail tapes shown Casey knows her daughter is dead, but lies for three years. At least George Anthony shows serous remorse, Casey is just a cold hearted liar

angel watson   June 6th, 2011 12:48 pm ET

bombshell-----–
Defense--- is going to have a bombshell---- defense is going to say brat casey– never did say who was Caylee's father was -because at the time she got pregnant-she thought George or Lee might be Caylee's father. Casey is not mental insane. she is a big liar because she is a cold blooded killer.

bombshell-----bombshell------bombshell------

mandy   June 10th, 2011 2:29 pm ET

at what time did George Anthony place the call, where was he standing or sitting when he placed the call?

Tony Longo   June 26th, 2011 1:37 pm ET

AT this time Casey's parents are blaming themselves for the murder of Caylee. Therefore they are trying to get Casey from paying for her crimes.
They have come to understand that the public thinks they are all disfunctional, and need to stick together. They have given up being honest.

Dev   June 30th, 2011 12:44 am ET

Casey found her daughter in the pool dead. Tried to revive her in the yard. Hid the body in the playhouse, then put her in the trunk of the car. Did use a shovel to get the body or pool ladder out. The car sat in impound. By then Casey told her dad who would protect her by his silence; and fear of wife's reactions. They both kept it quiet. Then car had to be removed from impound and George knew the whole time where the body was. He picked up the car and drove to the woods to bury his granddaughter. Knew that the smell would upset his wife, but went to work anyways.(Weird) to leave at a time like this, poor Cindy. It all came out when Cindy called 911. George knew Cindy was going to go get Casey, and that it all was going to come out, but because of her fear, Casey lied about a sitter that she did use to use with her friend Jeff from work at Kodak. George called son to come be with his mother because he was afraid of how it would go down. Lee is used to defuse mother for George. (Co-dependent family type behaviour) George has known the whole time and was afraid, because he's a cop and knows what could happen to his daughter; much less himself, for obstructing justice. The duct tape was used to control the regermortice so they could bury her in a resting-peaceful position. George may have even been home and couldn't recessitate her, and told Casey where to put the body, and then run out of gas and let the car get impounded. Who knows? I just think that George isn't surprised about much.
