Judge rules in Casey Anthony case, significant for prosecution

Posted: 07:45 PM ET

Atlanta, GA – Judge Belvin Perry ruled Friday on several key motions in the case against Casey Anthony, the Florida mom accused of killing her daughter.

Anthony’s defense team had filed a motion to keep the jury from hearing Anthony’s statements to law enforcement made on July 15 and 16, 2008 – during the first days when Anthony’s daughter,

Caylee was reported missing. In a hearing earlier this month, the defense argued Anthony had not been advised of her Miranda rights yet was in custody and under interrogation.

Judge Perry, however disagreed. In his ruling, he found that Anthony was not in custody at the time and will allow the prosecution to use her statements. This is a significant ruling for the State, since four of the seven counts against her are based on these statements.

Judge Perry will also allow the State to use jail recordings of Anthony and her family made between July 16 and August 22 of 2008. The defense had argued that these recordings were made at the request of law enforcement but failed to convince the judge.

Judge Perry will also allow statements made to Orange County inmates Maya Derkovic and Robyn Adams and former Orange County corrections officer, Sylvia Hernandez.

In another significant ruling for the prosecution, Judge Perry will allow testimony from botanist Dr. David Hall, who had examined plant material at the scene where Caylee's remains were found. An issue at the trial will be how long Caylee’s remains were at the location where they were found.

Judge Perry also decided to take up the admissibility of chloroform evidence at next week’s Frye hearings. These hearings are dealing with whether other scientific evidence (the alleged odor of decomposition in the air) will be allowed.

The defense is asking the court to exclude any and all evidence of chloroform. According to the State, chloroform was found in Casey’s car. There were also chloroform key word searches found on the Anthonys’ home computer.

Smart man, that Judge! Thank God!

KellyB   March 18th, 2011 8:05 pm ET

Just love how the defense is trying to drag this thing out.
Thank you to the judge for not letting this turn into a circus, I can
only hoep that it continues this way into the trial. To be honest I am rather annoyed at how long it has taken for Casey Anthony to go onto trial. I know how the system is, but let's be real here, it should never have taken this long.

jeff   March 18th, 2011 8:12 pm ET

boy, defense teams are so unbelievably laughable. ya have to have an iq hovering around 70, on a good day, to believe or agree with anything they say or do. i mean really, what in the world could possibly be their reasoning to convince the judge not to allow the "chloroform" evidence against casey. it was found in HER car and it's certainly not the standard for people to have that at any time, let alone in their car. the same car that had "the smell of death" according to her own mother.

secondly, she also wanted her phone calls made from the jail not to be used as evidence. is she actually serious??? i think she inhaled much too much of that chloroform. that type of evidence is entirely permissible and always has been. ...and even if the cops DID initiate those phone calls who the hell cares. i guess she's under the impression we should ignore some of the best evidence against her, from her own mouth, all because authorities talked her into making the phone calls. yeah casey, sure, that evidence now means nothing because it was their idea for u to call your mother and incriminate yourself. i mean how stupid do these defense attorneys think we are. well it's funny at least to watch them make fools of themselves.

Jean Caruthers   March 18th, 2011 8:51 pm ET

I amm soooo glad that Judge Perry is trying the Anthony case ! He is a no-nonsense judge, and "everyone" will get a fair trial!

Kathleen   March 18th, 2011 9:06 pm ET

I understand she's innocent until proven guilty, however the cards are STACKED up against her. Wonder how the defense team will get over this hurdle? She should save the system those $'s--she's only prolonging the inevitable–a guilty verdict.

micha'el   March 18th, 2011 9:19 pm ET

Hurry Judge Perry! I knew you,d come through.

Lisa Y   March 18th, 2011 10:28 pm ET

This judge makes excellent rulings...Nice to see a judge who actually cares about justice instead of norms and excuses!

Elizabeth   March 18th, 2011 11:29 pm ET

Good for Judge Perry...Casey's attorneys are idiots and they are dealing with a Judge who knows the law inside and out. All that money being spent on her team for what...Drama in court as to why conversation should be excluded because she was afraid of big men with big guns.hahaha...She's headed for Death Row..no doubt about it...Mr and Mrs Anthony...go find yourself a good therapist and deal with it that your daughter is a murderer!!

Donna Pappas   March 19th, 2011 12:52 am ET

I can't wait to hear 'GUILTY AS CHARGED'...the death penalty is too good for her...lock her up and paste the cell walls with photos of how they found her little girl dead.

Judy   March 19th, 2011 9:20 am ET

Thank you Judge Perry!

The defense is grabbing at straws trying to create doubt in the jurors minds by hiding the evidence that proves Casey is guilty of murdering her daughter. It's time that precious Caylee has justice and the attention of this case is shifted from Casey to justice for Caylee.

Finally...   March 19th, 2011 11:19 am ET

...a judge with some spine! A rare find, indeed!

NYPrincessTt   March 19th, 2011 12:02 pm ET

I will never understand why people who are in custody, under arrest, just being interviewed/interrogated, etc. make any statements to the police at all. It goes without saying that I believe this young woman is as guilty as sin, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't exercise her constitutional rights. People get so nervous and jerky around police. Phrases like "am i under arrest? may I leave now? Can I contact my family (attorney, pastor, etc)?" can go a long way in a person's defense and to clarify whether the police consider you to be in custody or not, the most important being "I would like to speak to an attorney". You can't UNsay things, so it would be common sense to think carefully before you say anything at all to the police, whether you are guilty or innocent, and to WANT your interview to be recorded on video or tape, and to WANT as many witnesses who are not LE to be present (again, family, attorney, pastor, etc.)

lotusjani   March 19th, 2011 1:57 pm ET

Hooray for Judge Perry! It was obvious that this woman was not under arrest, and if they handcuffed her for a few minutes was at her own mother's request who wanted her arrested for stealing money and a car from her. They really wanted this psycho Casey to cough up with the information as where the little girl was.
The parents of this "mother" are just as psycho as she is, seems the brother is the more normal and down to earth from those other two.
George thinks himself above the rules inside the Courtroom and wants to "challenge" the D.A.? Stoooopid! And Cindy and him should try tic tacs instead of being so disrespectful chewing gum like a couple of cows all the time.

Parker   March 19th, 2011 2:58 pm ET

Good for the judge. This woman needs to be put away. At least the judge is standing up for Caylee, since her grandparents arent.

Nancy B   March 19th, 2011 8:36 pm ET

Bravo, Judge Perry!

Jenna   March 19th, 2011 8:46 pm ET

Yes!!! I completely agree with his decision and I'm so glad he is allowing this evidence. I have been following this case for years and it's so obvious that she's guilty. Caley deserves justice!

Larry McGrath   March 20th, 2011 10:44 am ET

Judge Belvin Perry is doing a fine job, and giving all the right decisions so far. I have never seen so many pre-trial motions in all my life. Won't be much left for the trial. Her lawyers are either the smartest or the stupidest going. Smartest to get the judge to even listen to their arguments pre-trial, and stupidest to think he would be impressed with their arguments. Got to do better boys and girls, but your options are getting less and less.

pjs   March 20th, 2011 11:15 am ET

I think Judge Perry is an honest and true judge. I can see that he will put up with NO messing around with his words!! What he says he means and his honesty will certainly hurt the defendant. He will rule against all lies, I am sure. So there goes the defense case.
God be with the judge and lawyers as they try this case.

comand   March 20th, 2011 11:45 am ET

why is she still alive????????????
–death for death–. should be the law.

NORM MASSEY   March 21st, 2011 9:24 am ET

I think Casey Anthony had better ask for a plea deal. I can't see her coming close to getting out of this alive. I also think the attorneys know this and are just out for their own good. Book deals, Movies, etc etc. I would think the Florida tax payers are very angry.

cregis   March 21st, 2011 9:54 am ET

Everybody is forgetting that Baez and Cindy Anthony said there would be a bombshell presented at trial where they would show that Casey was really a hero and was protecting the Anthony family by not reporting her daughter missing for that 30 days. I am snickering to myself. Personally I don't see how the defense is going to get around that 30 days. If Cindy Anthony hadn't called the police, would Caylee ever have been reported missing? Any juror who doesn't know about the details of this case has to be from Mars.

Gina   March 21st, 2011 12:18 pm ET

I would like to know the nationality and qualifications of the present
attorney Jose Baez.

For example, where he went to law school?
When did he pass the Bar Exam?

Thank you so much.

Gina

alumette   March 21st, 2011 12:20 pm ET

This woman would not protect anyone but her own skin. Cindy Anthony is flying high on her delusions trying to portrait her daughter as a caring being who was protecting her family. She had murdered her daughter and was living life to the fullest. At last, she was a free woman. She was free from the responsibility of motherhood and free from the grip of her parents, especially Cindy. The smart move for her if she wants to save her life would be a plea deal where she admits to killing the child. I don't understand how Cindy can so vehemently defend her daughter knowing she killed her adorable grandchild. That is a puzzle to me. She could be stoic and keep quiet as it would offer respect to the dead girl. What a sad family.

alumette   March 21st, 2011 12:29 pm ET

I can't bear to look at this people so if they are chewing gun, it shows their disrespect for the court and the law. It also means disrespect for their dead grandchild as they try their hardest to protect their murderous daughter. Something is terribly wrong with the whole family. I see cover-up for ugly laundry and enabling a psychopathic daughter. They are unfit, illogical and tragic. I hope the results of the trial bring justice to the toddler who was the only innocent victim of that bunch. It will be a relief to put that issue to rest and let the soul of that poor child go free.

michelle   March 21st, 2011 2:00 pm ET

I have a feeling that they're prosecuting the wrong person....the prosecution should look into the grandparents' role into this. It just doesn't make sense that they'd wait 30 days before filing a missing child report. My suspicion is that there was an accident involving the little girl/grandparents, and they're throwing the mother(casey anthony) to the wolves. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.....but something still doesn't seem right about this whole, weird case.

CJM   March 21st, 2011 3:30 pm ET

What a great judge–a man with a backbone who will accept no nonsense from anyone. The defense team is doing its best to toss out as much evidence as they can in order to get Casey Anthony off and scott free. If they do manage this, what do you want to bet Casey and Baez will become a twosome. The sad thing is that neither the Anthony parents nor the mother even acknowledge the little victim, Caylee, these days. Everything is all about Casey and her life; did she even care about the little one's life? Obviously not. She should simply tell the court what she did and how she came up with her lies (especially about Zanida, another life she ruined through false implications) concerning Caylee's death. As it is, I hope Casey is convicted and given the death penalty–she deserves no less.

Nancy   March 21st, 2011 3:40 pm ET

I have followed this case since day one and can't wait for justice for Caylee. Casey Anthony needs to be used as an example to all those who think they can get away with murder. So tragic! That little girl did not ask to be here anymore than the rest of us did. I never used to believe in the death penalty but with all you hear now about children being murdered by parents and boyfriends/ girlfriends, much less strangers, it has got to be stopped!

Cheryl Stauty   March 21st, 2011 4:39 pm ET

I cant wait for the trial,,,, Casey thinks shes cool right now seeing lawyers all the time planning her defense.... once she is found guilty shell be all by herself in that little cell with no lawyers nobody I cant wait

Laverne Sherwood   March 21st, 2011 6:24 pm ET

Casey Anthony needs to FRY for killing that beauthiful baby girl!!!!!! If she didn't want her why didn't she give her to the Grandparents or even let someone else adopt her!!!!!! You can see that Casey is a spoiled Brat has walked all over her parents.

Gail   March 21st, 2011 8:08 pm ET

I was shocked to hear George saying a Amber Alert should have been done, I had to laugh , they will say anything to try to get their girl off the murder charge. They have no respect for their granddaughter . Amber alert for a child killed by their daughter. Geo and Cindy looked like dumb people. RIP Caylee.

Gator Gal   March 21st, 2011 9:40 pm ET

Thank you, your Honor. Kudos to the prosecution as well. Please try to keep the upcoming trial under control – unlike the O.J.trial. She deserves a fair trial – not a show for primetime. Efficient litigation here will make us Floridians proud of the overly inflated tax bills paying for our justice these days. We need to rethink how criminal justice is funded. Let's put more pressure on convicted criminals in the form of charging them for actual costs of prosecution. Many won't have the funds, but those that do should be made to pay in dollars as well as in years in prison. The rest of us simply cannot continue to afford these ever rising costs- but justice is priceless as is the public's safety. Maybe we can lease out parts of the new 1st DCA's "taj mahal" building in Tallahassee in order to raise some of the funds needed across the state for trying and incarcerating convicted murderers. Please keep up the hard work that you have been doing. We appreciate your work.

MARY   March 21st, 2011 10:11 pm ET

thank goodness that nonsense is over, i wonder what the defense will want to throw out now?? i'm sure they will want another judge because this one isn't playing the "Anthony" game.

bob coalts in mi   March 22nd, 2011 8:01 am ET

I believe people like Casey Anthony should fry, and fry, and fry!! Good decision Judge Perry!!

Traci   March 22nd, 2011 8:26 am ET

YAY for the judge! That girl deserves to rot in jail.

MARY WILKINS   March 22nd, 2011 10:33 am ET

Thank God for judges like Judge Perry..... This so-called 'defense team' is sooooooo unreal! Get on with the trial and get the guilty verdict and let her FRY ON THE GURNEY!!!!!!!!!!! Should have already been done~ I love Judge Perry for being the one who is going to be on the bench.....

Plain Clothes Hero   March 22nd, 2011 11:51 am ET

Thank you Judge Perry! It is about time.

Linda   March 22nd, 2011 12:35 pm ET

Here Comes The Judge Perry! Floridian taxpayers should rejoice. This trial should have happened a long time ago! It only makes one wonder about the dynamics of this family... But, how many other defendants would get this type of state trial ? There are many indigenous people in our country who would never get this publicity, or trial. Lets hope the brilliance of Judge Perry puts the money hungry Hollywood Hounds – out of commission....unless the movie makers want to turn over the proceeds to pay taxpayers for the trial.....and for a donation to missing children or domestic violence agencies. Why should a profit be made of a victim who will never monetarily benefit...where would the justice in that be. Lets hope Judge Perry is going to be presiding in May, over this case. Maybe , he is here to get passed these legal issues... we need more judges like him- he is not influenced or impressed with bull.....

Dawn   March 22nd, 2011 12:45 pm ET

It's nice to see that Judge Perry is not being manipulated in this circus act like everyone else in her life including her attorneys. There is so much circumstantial evidence in this case that to believe she is innocent is ludicrous! I just can't let go of the fact, that her parents showed such anger and hate for her until she was arrested. She has information (maybe about them) they want kept a secret. They have ruled out her brother being the babys father right? As sick as that sounds, it keeps coming back. Hopefully this will be done soon.

Nanjan   March 22nd, 2011 1:53 pm ET

Thank God for Judge Perry and his rulings thus far. I pray he will allow the chloroform to be admissible as well.

The entire Anthony family have extreme issues with lying, especially Casey and Cindy. I used to feel sorry for George but after seeing him in the court room during the last hearing I have lost confidence in him as I remember the ranting and raving from George and Cindy about Casey's attorney and the lack of trust they had in him. Well now, he has turned that all around and made it look like the detectives urged him on. I don't buy it for one second.

If my child was on trial for murdering their child my instinct would be to protect my child, I understand that and I feel bad for George in that respect but I do not feel bad for Cindy as she has been untruthful from day one and she is a bit out there, something is not quite right with that woman, which is scary because she is a nurse. Hopefully treated her patients better than she does her family..

Sorry folks, I believe Casey is guilty and Judge Perry is making the right decisions and I praise him for that....

Vicki   March 22nd, 2011 1:53 pm ET

Judge Perry is the most honorable judge I've seen or heard of in a long long time. I wish every victim had the opportunity to have their perpetrator brought before him. Thank You Judge Perry for standing up for Caylee, the beautiful little girl that had her life snuffed out by a self centered, egomaniac of a woman that was supposed to be called "mother' not "monster" ! I can't say what I would like to happen to Casey. It's beyond what she might receive which is death. Death is way too good for her.

thomas   March 22nd, 2011 2:31 pm ET

People have to realize that the Defense team is doing exactly what they should/need to do. They are just doing their job.

mimmie sue   March 23rd, 2011 10:13 am ET

Judge Belvin Perry is most honorable because he "takes no side" in Caylee Marie Anthony vs. Casey Anthony.

sam   March 23rd, 2011 12:13 pm ET

If you knock out all the scientic evidence,There is still so much against Casey.
If I knew nothing about this case, I could still see her Guilty by what all she did and said and her parents said, not scientific evidencel.
I mean her own Mother only called Police to report her daughter stealing her car-–then Caylee was missing.

Suzanne   March 23rd, 2011 12:21 pm ET

Casey Anthony is in for such a rude awakening when this trial ends, it is inevidable that she will be found guility, there are no other suspects out there...she is a self centered, spoiled bitch who will get everything she deserves for what she did to her daughter...It is an honor to be a mother and as motherhood did not fit into her partying life style she killed her daughter...Both her mother and father need to accept the fact they raised a monster and that their daughter killed their granddaughter and they can be as argumentative as they want on the witness stand but they cannot change the facts, their daughter murdered their granddaughter....I cannot wait until Casey goes into the general population and the other inmates make her pay for what she did to that precious little girl because we all know that inside of jail any inmate who has done harm to a child will have a very rough time so she better enjoy her protective custody now, let's see how smug she is once all her lies catch up to her and the jury finds her guilty of killing her daughter...let's also see how combative her parents are when their daughter is found GUILTY! I also hope that the poor zanny the nanny also gets what is due to her for Casey ruining her reputation....Casey is nothing but a liar and a murderer.....

Pam in MO   March 23rd, 2011 1:26 pm ET

Has anyone noticed that when a suspected is in the limelight that the attorney and the suspect always seem to say "the truth will come out in trial"? This must be the bombshell that Biaz was speaking of.....that his client is indeed GUILTY!

Pam in MO   March 23rd, 2011 1:30 pm ET

I wonder how long it took for DNA to bcome standard in the courtrooms across the country? It had to have set a presidence somewhere.....maybe this "hair banding" will also be as DNA once was. Very interesting!

merty in mo   March 23rd, 2011 2:06 pm ET

this judge will not throw this dna out he is very very smart and we all know she is guilty of killing caylle that poor little girl there is no nanny and we all know this and if she did not do it who did right you all know who and she will pay for what she did dead and alive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dee   March 23rd, 2011 2:23 pm ET

Someone needs to clue Judge Ito (OJ Simpson case judge) in on how to conduct a courtroom without letting the Defense Team turn it into a Circus for Celebrity Want-a-bes!

Dee   March 23rd, 2011 2:26 pm ET

Judge Perry is a Class Act that will keep Jose Baez in line.......because you can tell he already thinks he is a Celebrity or Superstar! Thank you, Judge Perry......no more circus trials here!

Dee   March 23rd, 2011 2:32 pm ET

Casey has ruined so many lives and yet she sits there acting as if she is part of the defense team. I still cannot believe Casey's parents are actually going to protect her after what she has done. I can understand them still loving her, but not covering for her, knowing that they are standing in the way of justice for their granddaughter.

ms. ronnie san antonio   March 23rd, 2011 3:15 pm ET

precious Caylee will finally get justice. the last person she saw was her mom killing her..thank goodness for Judge Perry. i can't understand why this trial has taken sooooooo long and the cost is being paid by us..........good job court tv/in session...i watch it everday.

james scruggs   March 23rd, 2011 3:23 pm ET

i think that the juge should throw every thing out so the def has noth ing to go and that hosa byes should be re moved from the case i have herd him being enter veiwed by tv news ch 28 here in florida and he said that he him self could have any juge removed from this case any time he wanted to and that he could pay peopal off to make them say any thing be hind closed doors casey is gulity of muder she made that little girl sufer and yet the juge lets peopal like hosa byes talk when he is talking i say no more talking and no more time for the def mr hosa byes is haveing a fling with casey that is wrong so wrong they are playing games with tax payers money lets get the trail started sooner and not later casey needs to be put to death no more probation no cummity service and no life in preson

Debra   March 23rd, 2011 3:47 pm ET

I can't believe these defense attorneys will try to keep ALL EVIDENCE and thats exactly what it is EVIDENCE out of court. Our Judicial system is already screwed up by not allowing key information into courts and now they are trying to throw out the EVIDENCE? She killed that little angel and should pay for it.

To be dancing around half naked, and acting like a tramp in heat while her daughter is missing is just plain cold and sick.

And for the granparents I am sickened that they will defend this sluuut of a daughter over a small innocient child.

Joe   March 23rd, 2011 11:06 pm ET

I like the judge because he seams to be "on the level." But at this point, its a tossup as to wether or not she will be convicted (I think she will be, but Im not a lawyer). Plus those parents need a major blanket-party thrown for them. If Casey is convicted, her lawyers can appeal every decision the judge makes and because of this, it will most likely be many years before a guilty verdict would be finale.

shelly in Ky   March 24th, 2011 9:14 am ET

Casey is continuously writing during this Frye trial. I really feel she can't have THAT much to take notes on. My guess is that this is a distraction for her so the cameras do not pick up any emotion or reaction from her. It has apparently worked, because I have not seen one bit of emotion from her while they are talking about the remains of her dead child.......

sam   March 24th, 2011 10:38 am ET

Shelly in Ky,
You are so right. She is writing in her ounal, ansering Fan Mail, or maybe taking classes to be a paralgal, and studying as a distraction. The folks around hr that look at what she isd writing are just checking her work. She is not active in her case at all. The more she does this, the worse it looks for her.
I believe she will not do this during the Real Trail. She does remind me of Gooie, when he was coloring in court after he killed Jessica Lunsford. Casey stop it. Looks worse for ya. There is not enough thought s in your mind to write that much.
She shows no emothions, she has none. Casey Loves Casey.

sam   March 24th, 2011 10:40 am ET

Does not matter if they apeal over and over, she will be in jail for many many many years. I don't want her dead. I want her in Jail FOEVER>

sam   March 24th, 2011 1:46 pm ET

Yes, Thomas, they are doing their Job-A very Bad job.
Has anyone noticed how casy made a frown when Dr. Voss talked about how they use the remains and such for reseach? But she gives no expressions about the Baby she killed. Casey these remains are dead--they did not kill them like you did your baby.

fran s   March 24th, 2011 2:29 pm ET

I think Baez is in way over his head. He is the most rude person I have ever seen and would never want him to defend me. I find also, that he treats witness's so horrid. This people are so smart in their field, he keeps trying to break them but they are smarter and are not letting him. I find him an idiot...and by the way is there anything going on between him and Casey. They seem to be touching each other at every moment they can. Unfortunately the camera keeps showing these personal time.
I agree with others, she is wasting the taxpayers money, she knows what she did and should fess up. She is nothing but a child killer and should be let loose in prision to face the music.

jake   March 24th, 2011 3:17 pm ET

I would love to see Cindy nd George wear a shirt in court " Justice for Caylee" At least going into Court. It sems to me that other than us People, Judge Perry and maybe Lee are the only ones that are wanting justice for Caylee.
Judge is so fair. Bozo is so stupid--

Robertta   March 24th, 2011 8:57 pm ET

At least Casey isn't playing with her hair now. Maybe she is beginning to realize that this is serious, and looking sexy with her hair hanging down isn't in her best interest.

Peggy   March 24th, 2011 9:39 pm ET

Judge Perry is perfect for this case. He appears to be honest and fair and I feel both sides will be treated equal. However, what I can't grasp is how Casey can sit in the courtroom and watch her mother and father go through hell. And all the expense? All she needs to do is open her mouth and tell the truth FOR ONCE IN HER LIFE!!! She could save her parents a lot of pain, but what does she care? Casey is the closest thing to evil I have ever encountered. I don't want her to get the death sentence–instead I want her in a cell with a video going continuously showing precious Caylee reading her book and asking her grandfather if he is tired. THAT WOULD BE TRUE JUSTICE!!!!!

Halluska   March 24th, 2011 10:08 pm ET

Watchng this case is much better than watching, Sheen's problems, and funnier, especially when Baez pretends to be a lawyer, and interrogates witnesses. His manners are reprehensible, and I am shock that the judge does not reprimend him. He is arrogant, ignorant and should have somebody telling him that his suits are too tight and out of fashion, Casey and him belong together, because they both dream that this case will end up in a not guilty verdict. The money they are spending is stupid, since it will never go anywhere. All the "experts" are having their 15 minutes of fame. What a difference between the State questioning, compared to the defense. The defense read the questions. No brains!

sam   March 24th, 2011 10:24 pm ET

One thing I agree on. After Casey is convicted she will want another trail saying that she had a incompetent Lawyer. Which she does. Hey she got his name from a inmate. That alone would show a red flag. A inmate gives you a name of a lawyer and the inmate is in jail. DAAHHHH Anyway, She will then have to have a court appointed lawyer, whcih probably have more sense than Bozo and his clowns.

Michelle M.   March 24th, 2011 10:36 pm ET

We have to have faith in the justice system. No person can predict the outcome of this trial.
The judge seems to be more than competent, and doing all he can to keep things on track.
I can't help but feel sorry for this whole family. Yes, including Casey.
I know, don't say it, let me explain.
These people appear to be so dysfunctional that the father tried to commit suicide.
The mother makes statements that indicate the deceased child is still alive and they are still searching for her.
Instead of searching for the truth, I believe they continue to withhold information about Casey and the so called nanny.
Truly, if the end result for them is to see their daughter aquitted of this crime, they would have to be seriously mentally ill to want her back out in society.
Lastly, what kind of mother can sit in a courtroom and listen to testimony concerning the decomposition of their child with no facial expression whatsoever.
I have to believe that mental illness runs rampant throughout this family.
That being said, I hope that the justice system works and that the guilty party is removed from society permanently.

Kath   March 25th, 2011 6:20 pm ET

I would like to write to Cindy and George, from one grandparent to another: I have the pleasure of having 5 grandchildren, they do not live with me, but I see them EVERYDAY. If one of these presious gifts would happen to disappear I would move mountains to find them. If I suspected one of my children of harming them, I would be the first person to turn them in. If I truely believed my child did nothing to harm my grandchild, I would be tearing up the streets to find the person who did. I would not be in court being disrespectful towards the people trying to bring justice for my murdered grand-daughter. Caylee will get justice, her mother will spend everyday of her life, remembering her daughter's dead lifeless eyes. George and Cindy will get their just do, their percious Caylee will not be waiting for them on the other side. If Lee has children in the future, I hope he is parent enough to keep them away from George and Cindy, because we now know they would NOT do anything in their power to protect them.

ckesling   March 25th, 2011 9:31 pm ET

judge perry rocks....no nonesense judge. the way it should be.jose wanted a new judge~he got one:) hows that working for ya jose????

Chris Neves   March 26th, 2011 10:50 am ET

So far, the evidence is going to convict Casey.....she is the only person who knows the real story. She knows that Caylee was dead in the trunk.
Too bad the tax payers of Fla. have to foot the bills for the same result as public opinion.
The trial should be interesting! If she didn't want to be tied down with a child, then she should have given her parental rights to her parents.
While Caylee was missing for 31 days, and Casey was out partying
did she not think about her child? No, because she knew where she was!!

cjames   March 27th, 2011 11:17 am ET

I am very anxious to hear what in the world the defence can say to justify her lies and wild behavior. How can there be any plausable explanation. How in the world do they have anything that would exonorate her. They seem so confident when the cards seem totally piled against her. It will be interesting to her what they can say to justify all she has done and said.

Regina Ramey   March 27th, 2011 11:14 pm ET

The best thing that has happened for Caylee since her tragic death is Judge Perry!!!! I guess this defense team should've be careful what they asked for cause now they've got it!!!! Praise God! Maybe there will be true justice for this beatiful baby after all!!!!!

Maria   March 28th, 2011 2:37 pm ET

I like the Judge! As it should be a no non sense Judge. They have to know that Casey is guilty they are just going to argue everything to drag this out! And I hate how Casey thinks she is an attorney sitting at the table writing things and going thru files like she is so important what a joke! And so sad that it is costint the people money. Get this case going already.

Ruth   March 29th, 2011 1:55 am ET

Is the Death Penalty still on the table?

Justice for Caylee!!!!

Ann   March 29th, 2011 11:06 am ET

I hope Casey will get 2 life sentences. And it is too bad that trials like this one where evidence is stacked up are costing the tax payers this much money. I just hope people can have a little more compassion for Cindy and George. Are they delusional? Yes. But I think they believed what they wanted to believe. The other truth is so brutal – that they do not want to lose both daughter and granddaughter. And they probably did see wonderful moments between Casey and Caylee. Casey seems to be a very good liar – so she could have been a loving mom whenever the grandparents were around. Clearly it was an act. But it is an act that Cindy and George need. But eventually, they will know the truth. I am so glad this judge is ruling efficiently and effectively to keep the trial nonsense free.

DC   March 29th, 2011 1:43 pm ET

I haven't seen the defense ask for the strand of hair to be thrown out – That's the most convincing evidence to me – it tells me Cayley was dead in Casey's car and no one but Casey could have put her there. Case closed. GUILTY!

alumette   March 30th, 2011 5:17 pm ET

The death penalty for Casey would be humane, unlike what she did to her toddler. Suffocating that little girl and taping her nose and mouth shut so she did not wake up and scream is such a painful visual that it is hard to bear...but it is obvious it is what she did. Then she went to party. Why such an elaborate defense? It is offensive.

Teresa   March 31st, 2011 10:14 am ET

I have stood by my daughter in alot of things....her marriages, her mistakes and failures, I love my daughter and would stand by her because I love her, but I would NOT lie for her or anyone else. I have always told her to tell the truth and accept the consequences of her actions. If I was Casey's mother I would tell her to be an upstanding person and tell the TRUTH. My mom always told me that if you tell the truth you can tell it the same every time. I have not heard the same story twice from out of this woman's mouth.

If I was Casey's mother I would beat the holy crap out of her, she has probably never had a belt on her backside before. I am thankful for a decent judge over this circus of a trial. I pray that justice does prevail for little Caylee.

nita   March 31st, 2011 11:34 pm ET

Today, it became readily apparent to me, Casey's paralegal work has been assigned to keep her looking poised, involved and distracted.( An innocent, caring and loving mother could not sit and listen to the testimonies we've heard and show no remorse or emotion whatsoever. A wrongly accused mom(in her right mind) would at least cry at the appropriate time as she listened to and visualized what is believed to have transpired in this death.) A few weeks ago when she was in court and had nothing to do, she "stared holes" in Judge Perry as he spoke. The look was not one of being grossly involved, but one of menacing porportions. This morning,(Thursday) she was without "busywork" and she was having a hard time with maintaining her composure as the lawyers were at sidebar. It seemed to me her mind wandered and she would gather herself quickly and again look self-assured.

sam   April 1st, 2011 11:19 am ET

Can that girl keep still for 2 min, without pulling or tugging or writing???? DANG!!!!!
Like I said, it is also have to be a person on the jury that is like casey and can relate to her Loonly nest to say Not guilty.
They will probably be BFF after it is over.

Trish   April 1st, 2011 1:37 pm ET

nita, a wrongly-accused mom would cry at appropriate times – Unless: she is heavily drugged with psychotropic medications [other defendants who were reported to be cold & unemotional at trail have been later shown to have been drugged nearly asleep during their trial], or if the press has used every single item she wears or gesture she makes to confirm she's a narcissistic & heartless killer, or she's been told to keep a lid on herself in the courtroom.

Or maybe she's mentally ill – Casey is at the age that someone with latent psychosis is likely to experience their first psychotic break – which could explain a whole lot: disappearing from her family for a month; stealing from her longtime friend; losing track of her child; her incoherent stories to the cops at their intital, overnight-length meeting.

The only thing Casey has been consistent about is saying she didn't know where Caylee was & didn't kill her – even when this obviously irritated the police & her parents, not to mention the media & the public. For someone who lied so transparently & told different versions of stories during her "noncustodial" interrogation, she's been remarkably consistent on those two points. I think it frustrates the police & prosecutors to no end that she hasn't "cracked".

Frances   April 1st, 2011 8:17 pm ET

Judge Perry rules. I love that man.

jan   April 1st, 2011 10:24 pm ET

why is anthony allowed to distract court hearing by going threw lg folders while testmony is going on?

joy   April 3rd, 2011 2:43 pm ET

Has anyone noticed that this past Friday Baez was not in court? Casey looked very uncomfortable without him. And, it appears to me she is always flirting w/him. Does anyone remember that a neighbor of the Anthony's stated in the beginning that Casey borrowed a shovel one evening and then backed her car into her driveway. Something she never did.

joy   April 3rd, 2011 2:48 pm ET

I believe Casey committed the crime;however, I wonder if someone helped her to bury her child.

kitty   April 3rd, 2011 10:29 pm ET

Why are they waiting so long to charge her? Because she a a woman? She has lied from the start about everything, why and how do they think is can tell the truth? If it was a man they would have already had charged him! She has always lied why should our tax dollars keep her alive? She had no concern about her own child why should we care about keeping her alive and well? Why not get it over with. She is nobody and will never be more than a woman who killed her own child and didn't give a crap about it! She needs to grow up quit blaming others and let her innocent little child finally rest in peace!

Superbird   April 4th, 2011 3:58 am ET

Sick of the continuing saga. It will probably turn out that she will get time served and be released–which is the really sad part. That poor little girl was only two years old–and she wanted to live. Period. After all this time I would certainly hope the judge and prosecutor do not lose site of that fact. That would be a tradgedy.

Beachy   April 6th, 2011 5:10 pm ET

What ever happened to "everyone is entitled" to a fair and speedy trial? How long is this one going to drag on?

Vida Perez   April 6th, 2011 7:29 pm ET

does anyone wonder what is really going on with Baez&Casey? notice the googly eyes they make at each other? And i don;t think she is taking notes, she is writing a book and they both laugh about it in our faces. she only concerns herself with how she looks, her clothes, and her hair. Being that people are driving by the Anthony's house tells me they were never being foreclosed on, a ruse for donations? This is all so sickening. But God will prevail, and she will pay.....

Oh, and i so love the judge......................God does work in mysterious ways, huh?

njmom`   April 6th, 2011 10:17 pm ET

The defendent's lawyers are doing their best, however, this case is a tough one. The judge is awesome and keeping it real for both sides. Tight reins on both sides. Go Judge. You are awesome.
Casey, is a pathalogcal liar and will never quit the fight to get out of jail and continue her life as before. Except for one beautiful litttle child.
The devil is not done with her yet. Free or locked up.
She will burn in hell.

God is taking care of that precious child now.

gabrielle of minneapolis   April 7th, 2011 3:11 pm ET

Enough already, why is she so special that the state has to pay for her legal antics why not give her a public defender not this yahoo they call a lawyer he is in it for the publicity nothing else, thank god that is a smart judge that is not going to stand for the crap the defense is trying to pull.

mom of nine   April 7th, 2011 6:49 pm ET

only god an casey knows what happened . and if u ask me yes i think she killed her baby and ,is now trying her hand to see if she can get away with it. Its not gonna be a not guilty verdict. its gonna be a guilty verdict you just mark my words. and guess what else ,If you really think about it everything thats been said and done is telling and showing a blind man that shes guilty already.

Edie   April 8th, 2011 4:54 pm ET

I have watched every minute of the pre-trial motions in this case after reading EACH single article prior to Casey Anthony's indictment. This is a daunting task, to say the least. (thank God for the Internet)
It is evident that the Honorable Bevin Perry is an intelligent, diligent, assiduous judge- trying his best to determine, according to the legal statutes and precedents, what testimony should be allowed to be presented to the jury. Obviously, he realizes that any rulings could be subject to any post-trial appeals.
However, I believe that Judge Perry's scrupulously investigated opinions are those of a seriously determined man to arrive at fair rulings – not those of an individual worrying that his rulings could be overturned . I have the utmost admiration of this man who has been thrust into the spotlight of one of the most-watched trials of the 21st century. I am so impressed at his grasp of the pre-trial arguments (that would normally put Job to sleep), and when one listens to his questions/comments to counsel, he realizes that this man knows exactly what is being presented. and the implications therein.
Kudos to you, Judge Perry! I You have a fan in Texas who is confident that the outcome of this trial will be based on true and impartial testimony!

Dms   April 11th, 2011 9:08 am ET

While I sympathize with the taxpayers in FL who are footing the bill for her legal defense, it is necessary for the judge to be thoughtful about his rulings and make sure he allowing everything under the law so that she will not (hopefully) get a new trial on appeal. One wrong decision is all it will take, so the judge is taking his time and taking everything into consideration before ruling.

Also the jury will be put off by Cindy and george if they continue to act as they have, so you can bet they will clean up their act before the trial. If they don't they'd will be helping the prosecution convict Casey.

Casey is taking notes because her defense team has instructed her to. Typical instruction from defense attorneys. However, if it was my child that was murdered, there is no amount of distraction that would keep me from losing it during testimony concerning his/her death.

The whole family is sick and extemely dysfunctional. God help them all, and God bless Caylee!

Larry   April 11th, 2011 9:03 pm ET

Gina; I believe to practice law in a state (Florida in this case ) the Florida law exaime must be passed for that state to reconize Baez .

Then again I could be wrong just once !!!

loriey   April 13th, 2011 9:06 pm ET

What goes around, comes around Casey Anthony will be found guilty...she's blamed everyone but herself for her little girl's disappearance & murder. There is no acceptable reason for her not to have reported Caylee "missing" immediately.
Casey's web of lies caught up with her as far as always dropping Caylee off at babysitter Zani's Sawgrass Apts (where she never lived) also taking police to her former place of employment where she'd been fired years before, stealing money fm her mother/grandparents & Best friend to support the lifestyle she wanted etc.
This is like the Susan Smith case....Caylee got in the way of Casey's hoped for romance with club promoter "Tony" who did not want to be involved with a woman with a child...just as Susan Smith's so called boyfriend didn't want Susan's kids...both women got rid of the kids to pursue a new life for themselves.
Cindy Anthony is totally deranged as she says she still believes Caylee is alive....if so why did she willingly cremated Caylee's bones?
Casey's brother Lee who believes anything his sister tells him is off his trolley also.
George Anthony is living in his own private Hell, he's the one I feel sorry for. .

Lee   April 14th, 2011 12:43 pm ET

Defense lawyers should be there strictly to protect defendants rights as stated by law . Not to weave a fantastical story and get evidence thrown out of court . It's a shame so much time and money is being spent on this case.

Marda Roberts   April 15th, 2011 3:24 pm ET

I feel Casey's antics during the month that Caylee went missing and did not try to locate her daughter via:911,telling her parents particularly her father who was in law inforcement even if she was afraid to tell her parents that Caylee had been kidnapped, if Caylee was valued she would have swolled her pride and reached out to anyone and everyone to find her daughter. Then the atrocity that she actually lied to police while taking them to where she "last" saw Caylee and more importantly, took them to a bogus "this is where i work at Universal,I'll take you to my office, etc."leaves no doubt in my mind that she knew that Caylee was dead and she was doing all that she could think of to be deceptive to everyone EVEN TRYING TO CONVINCE HERSELF. i THINK FOR CASEY ITS ALL ABOUT CASEY.

joanna133133   April 15th, 2011 10:29 pm ET

OMG! A Day To CeleBrate!! The Defense tried but the Judge saw through their Smoke-N-Mirrors! ....now for the Chloroform 'EvidencE'! All bases are loaded.......Last batter is up....will ..it...be...a...home...run??? Lets Pray it is, so that ALL the evidence will be introduced! Caylee deserves her 'pathetic' mother to be exposed for what she was, is and for all her 'deplorable' actions & behaviors. Then let the JURY decide!!

Kellie O.   April 18th, 2011 11:06 am ET

I missed In Session on Friday and I am watching it now. The picture of Casey and her fiancee at the time at the club. Hello! Casey was at a club when her child was missing! Jose Baez is just stalling, all the pictures that he objected to have relevance. What kind of mother would be out partying when her child was missing? The kind of mother that knew exactly where that poor little girl was all along! I am well aware of innocent until proven guilty but her lies and her attitude and behavior kind of tells exactly how innocent Casey is-she isn't and with a no-nonsense Judge like Perry she will be found guilty! Casey should just give it up save Florida all that money and admit she killed her sweet, innocent little girl. Apparently Casey has no conscience or heart!

nanci   April 18th, 2011 2:20 pm ET

casey loved her own way and that is why when things didnt work out she got the rid of her child, and when it comes to her in the club, those pictures should come in to show what a selfish liar casey is, and that she is going to hell in jail. How could your child could be lost and the mother not knowing where she is and out clubbing and happy, what is her excuse, and then taking the police on a wild goose chase and refuse to face the truth, what is wrong with this idiot, she is going to be found guilty.

Jan   April 18th, 2011 3:09 pm ET

I apologize if these are repeat theories: Regarding the nanny named "Zany," is anyone connected with the case yet aware, especially Casey Anthony's nurse mother, that "Zany" is a street name for the prescription drug, Xanax?
Was Casey Anthony's body remains tested for the presence of Xanax, and has anyone theorized that Casey Anthony killed Caylee by accidental overdose of the drug when she was trying to sedate Caley so she could go to a party? Or that maybe she routinely placed duct tape over Caylee's mouth as her M.O. whenever she sedated Caley, after administering the drug to her, the the reference to "Zany the nanny?" Was Casey Anthoney on Xanax herself? According to the embedded link about the drug, "Zany," it is used by young prople that match Casey Anthony's apparent profile.
Just some ideas – I'd hate to see the Casey Anthony walk because they dismissed this obvious clue (Zany = Xanax). Also, I think it is horrible that Casey Anthony partied with Caylee missing. I do think she was probably just trying to act like there was nothing wrong, knowing full well there was something very wrong. I'm sure she was sad about it, but I also think she is incredibly selfish, especially when she cried on the phone from jail about how her entire life had been taken from her because of this, when that was exactly what happened to Caylee. At least Casey is still alive, for now, unless she ends up getting the death penalty.

Boston   April 19th, 2011 9:28 pm ET

GREAT job Judge....
Finaly A true man that is not manipulated by Casey.
No matter how much she smiles at him.

tito.D   April 21st, 2011 11:50 am ET

Thank god,i know she will pay for what she did.I love juge perry that"s how you haveto be sorry to say it this way with all respect YOU GO BOY LOL

evelyn lacourse   April 21st, 2011 12:46 pm ET

Christi Pauls comments on prejudice. many think it but do not voice it ! Uncalled for an an insult to her viewers. Will not watch any shows that she hosts. She owes us an apology !

emma   April 22nd, 2011 7:52 pm ET

god bless you judge perry

Allie   April 26th, 2011 6:38 pm ET

I think we should put Casey in the same jail cell with Mommy and have them kill each other and save the taxpayers money. We all know why she did it to spite her mother. That whole family is crazy the parents are delusional. Justice for Caylee..........Fry in hell Casey

Allie   April 26th, 2011 6:45 pm ET

Jose Baez is a joke. He is just looking for a major case to receive attention. He hasn't a clue what he is doing. Maybe he should stop sleeping with his client and concentrate on defending people that are really innocent. He has never won a case before and he certainly isn't going to win this one.

Diane   April 27th, 2011 1:00 am ET

I become sick when I see Baez and Anthony flirting with each other, it is so open and blatant, I'm sure the Honorable Perry is seeing this too.

It's sickening!

Diane   April 27th, 2011 1:02 am ET

PS, I also think the jury is going to notice it too.

wilson   April 27th, 2011 1:14 pm ET

this judge is very well educated he will see through all the bs and do whats right !!! he will serve justice for that little girl!!! all the hipe over cindy making all these excuses and how she is so defensive just shows she is guilty of knowing!! any normal parent would question and ask not cover up and lie!!!! they need to put them all on trial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rose christopher   April 27th, 2011 9:13 pm ET

I have cleared my calendar for May and June. I will be in front of my TV. No phone calls please-–I don't know if I could stand looking at her for two months--she makes me sick.

Bill Ousley   May 3rd, 2011 10:10 am ET

I agree with Diane, I think Jose Baez and Casey are 'over friendly' and would not doubt that there's more to it. Two snakes in one bag!!!
I'm sick of watch Casey walk into the court room as though she's a damn celebrity..............put her in an orange jump suit and let the world see her as she really is..............A MURDERER!!!! As far as the Judge, what a great job he's doing!! Way to go Judge!! Hurry with this case cause the Drew Peterson case needs you too!!!

Linda Ingram   May 6th, 2011 1:16 pm ET

How come Casey is not being treated like anyone else??? Im sure alot of people would like to decide where their jury comes from ..Let the Judge do his work ....Casey you went and played and a sweet little girl suffered for it ..You played NOW pay for it ..I hope everything comes out and you get away with nothing ..The one thing that is good is you cant have another child ...Cindy and George should be treated like anyone else ..If you have to testified wait out side till your called ..Anyone else would have to ...YOU all brought this to the world ...Now stop thinking your getting your way ..... Caylee people are here for you....You being the little Angel In heaven..god bless you little one....

sue   May 10th, 2011 7:47 am ET

hopefully they will have a educated jury, that pays attention and gets the job done. congradulations to the court system for having a great judge that does not stand the delay tactics the defence team has come up with

Mary in Vidalia , Ga. ( The Sweet Onion City )   May 17th, 2011 3:36 pm ET

My personal feelings about Casey getting a FAIR trial is this . If Scott Peterson got one , so will Casey... They both deserve the came verdict .. These 2 cases mirrow the same exact behavior ..Selfeshness , Spoiled , Privileded , No accountability, Parents do not want to admit their child commited this horriable crime and will stand by them at all cost $$$$$$, Its a very sad situation , but I cling to my beliefs and firmly know with out any doubt that little Caylee is walking on cloudys with the angles .... That's not where her MOTHER will end up in the eternities....End of soap box.. Mary

bethie   May 18th, 2011 5:32 am ET

Boy did anyone else catch how displeased ole Judge Perry was yesterday before 3pm when he wanted so badly to seat those 12 people!!! I worry about the jurors they'll end up with with them using up all these strikes on so called nobodies. I believe the dimwits that claim they don't watch the news but to me their internet junkies & being cutoff for 2 months will be damn hard on these jurors.

nitejanitor   May 18th, 2011 5:35 am ET

Boy the judge is detrinmined come He** or high water there will be a "jury" this wk-a fair one probably not,I sometimes wonder where he gets these ideals from.

sue   May 18th, 2011 9:44 pm ET

Today appears to be another defence stunt to generate even more news therefore muddying the waters for potential jourors that may not have heard anything about the case also baez could have put in a complaint to have judge perry removed as he is in a hurry to seat the jury last but not least plea deal stateing that she accidentally killed her daughter and hid the body becuase she didnt want to get in trouble i hope its not a deal and if it is i hope she serves life without parole but the question have you seen any of the defence attorneys on the news sticks in my mind baez has been on all the news channels and seems to enjoy asking the jourors that question
you have to admitt he hogs the show and is the king ofstalling all the proceedings

Penny   May 19th, 2011 1:04 pm ET

The women who claims she cannot pass judgement due to religios beliefs and is on the jury tells me that there will undoubtedly be a mis trial, so why are they even bothering wasting taxpayer money when this is obvious????

Lisa   May 23rd, 2011 12:29 pm ET

In the interview with Jose Baez on court tv today he said that people see this trial as entertainment. I don't find this one bit entertaining. The reason we are watching this trial is to see Casey punished for what she did to that child, not to be entertained.

Debbie   May 24th, 2011 9:45 am ET

Caset first came in the courtroom and sat down by Jose Baez. She was laughing and cuuting up with him. When opening statements began, she wanted to start her little how by shaking her head and cryng.CRYING? Wow, that is a first, but then again the jurors are there so she must make a good impression. She deserves the biggest Oscar award there has ever been. She is a good actress.

val   May 24th, 2011 11:56 am ET

I don't agree with the comments of the guest that said Casey shaking her head denotes denial and guilt. I took it as "No i won't sit here and let you say I did something I didn't do" If you notice she didn't shake her head at all the lies she told, cause she lied and it couldn't be denied.

Woodbridge Virginia   May 25th, 2011 5:40 pm ET

If Caylee really drowned in the swiiming pool, when the found Caylee's hair in the trunk of Casey's car wouldn't there be chlorine on it??

There defense make no sense!

Susie   May 26th, 2011 5:10 pm ET

If her daughter drowned in a pool...why did she not dial 911? I think the accustions against her father are ridiculous. I was not suprised Casey came up with this...I dont believe a word she says and her attorney seems to be trying too hard (ie "the gas cans") to prove her innocence. I do not believe, personally, any of Casey's allegations, I believe, so far, she is guilty. I would almost like her family to be the culprits because I dont want to believe a mother would do this, but mothers have done it before(remeber when mother sent her kids into a lake over a man who did not like kids) nd the mother who drowned her seven kids in the tub? ( 5 0r 7) these were loving mothers who snapped. However they confessed and Casey has not.

ann   June 9th, 2011 4:09 pm ET

Listening to the commentators on HLN after court recessed for the day, one wonders if they were witnessing the same courtroom spectacle as the rest of us. The consensus was the it was "real emotion from Casey Anthony." Real emotion is what Cindy Anthony went through when on the stand. Casey Anthony wiped away a few tears and avoided looking at any of the photos. Her having to leave the court due to illness after the prosecution published the pics of the remains of that beautiful child is a defense strategy. Baez had to do something to elicit some softening of the jury after witnessing those tiny remains. What better ploy to use by stating Casey Anthony was too distraught to return. If [she]came back into the courtroom after a recess with her usual stone-face, her fate as a murdering mother would have been sealed.

A J   June 15th, 2011 2:37 pm ET

Wondering how Casey can live with herself and to know she will have to live with the consequences of a guilty jury is justice served. Even if she does not get the death penalty she can have her "beautiful life" behind prison walls for the rest of her life.

KAT   June 16th, 2011 11:24 am ET

Innocent until proven guilty. if she is found guilty, man's law will prevail. She will, however, answear to a higher power if found guilty or not. There needs to be justice for little Caley, we may never know the whole truth. My heart goes out to all those who have lost someone taken too soon. God bless the jurors and give them wisdom.

San101   July 5th, 2011 10:30 pm ET

I thought the judge was great until today when I realized, if he hadn't been in such a hurry to get everything done in a certain amount of time that maybe they would have had time to pick a decent jury.
