After media frenzy, Lindsay Lohan begins life in jail

Posted: 12:35 PM ET

Los Angeles, California - More than four hours before Lindsay Lohan turned herself in at the Beverly Hills Courthouse, satellite trucks and camera crews lined the entrance of the building, jockeying for position.

Half an hour before she arrived, there appeared to be almost a hundred tv crews, including one from Australia, covering the event.

Overhead, helicopters hovered. At least one local tv station helicopter trailed Lohan from her home to the courthouse.

Everyone wanted to get a good shot of the Hollywood actress who was sentenced to 90 days in jail and another 90 days in a drug rehabilitation center. On July 6, a superior court judge found Lohan had violated her parole. In 2007, Lohan was arrested twice on DUI and possession of cocaine charges.

Upon her arrival, roughly ten minutes after she was due in court, Lohan passed through the media quickly. The 24-year-old appeared cool and stoic, even when a young tattoed man threw handfuls of gold confetti on her.

While Lohan was in court, her supporters captured the media's attention.

One of them, Joe Gassman held a sign that read "Free Lindsay." At times, he jumped up and down, screaming at the top of his lungs "let her go!"

"She didn't do anything. She's a wonderful actress, she didn't do anything wrong. She just partied a little bit. Everybody does it... all the starlets," Gassman told In Session.

After Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies took Lohan into custody, another of the actress' supporters blamed her estranged father for her actions. "Loser father" a voice from the crowd shouted as Michael Lohan stood at the podium with his attorney who addressed the media.

Within an hour of Lohan's departure to Century Regional Detention Center where she will serve out her sentence, the crews were packing up. But there was one final shot the media could not resist getting: a mugshot of Lohan after she had been checked into the women's facility.

14 day in jail isn't go to help Lindsay. It take 30days to start or break a habit. And once she done with her jail and rehab sentence she will be done with the court system ,no probation, no checking she will be free to drink and do drug without anyone monitor her.

Lindsay who?.....Oh please its easier to blame every one else but yourself..That what Lindsay is doing like so many of us does...When is she going to take the blame and fix whats wrong and stop using all these excuses?...Even if she spend a life time in and out of jail or rehab...if she doesn't change her way of thinking, it isn't going to work...We all have problems in life and people deal with it differently, however,at the end of the day we are responsible for our own behavior....Plus she is in a position much better than some people and they are nothing like her...When its not blaming society its some one or some thing else....Indeed you can take the pig out of the mud but you can't take the mud out of the pig.....go figure

Unreal how someone with " Funds" can possibly get off on a two week time out -vs- the average person having to do the bid entirely. It sickens me how this story has gotten so much air time. I feel for those that have been punished (as they should have) to see how Lindsay got off only if they could file a discrimination law suit ( oh yeah they lost there rights to do so being a convicted felon) .... ONLY IN AMERICA

I think the court\legal system has played games with her way too long. She needs to spend time in jail, maybe she will realize its for her benefit. The legal system gives her breaks because of who she is.....I truly hope she get the help she need.

I feel that is so wrong. I cannot believe she has been released after 13 day's. Why do they even have a court. So many people especially if you are famous just walk away, not even a slap on the wrist really and they repeat the issue at hand. They know that nothing is going to happen. Lindsay you can almost guarantee is going to be right back in the courts, but probably will never see real jail.
