The Summer of Mercy

Posted: 03:28 PM ET

August 1991. In Wichita, Kansas, thousands of anti-abortion activists swamped the city – a period known as The Summer of Mercy. The protesters gathered to prevent people from entering Dr. George Tiller’s women’s clinic.

Scott Roeder, the man on trial for the murder of Dr. Tiller, brought up the Summer of Mercy during his testimony, saying that although he didn’t participate in the protests, they certainly made him more aware of who Tiller was. In Session looks back at the weeks that cemented Wichita as ground zero of the abortion debate.

Personaly I beleive that he is guilty as charged. No one as he stated while on the stand except our maker has the right to take a life.

Does Scott Roeder beleive that he is that exception? That no one else can kill except him!

By his own emmissions he stated that he did this unjust crime of premeditated murder, and no one but God himself has the right to take a life.
GUILTY AS CHARGED

I feel They shouldnt even talk about how Dr. Tiller performed the abortions its the females choice! Dr. Tiller helped a lot of women who didnt need to have kids. some of us cant get our tubes tide because of no insurence or cant afford it. If Roeder and all the rest of the stupid people that had nothing better to do but marchoutside the abortion clinics didnt like it why research it. Why dip in to other people's problems. Its a lot of stuff we dont like, but that doesn't make it right to kill a nice person like Dr.Tiller. Dr.Tiller put his life on the line to help women who wanted the help. Roeder need to do the max amount of time in jail. I feel if not it will cause a lot of drama at the other abortion clinics. They also need to put a stop on letting the people stand outside yelling at the ones who go in their its not right at all.

I just watched the jury come in with a first degree murder verdict, which I expected, and is just and true. For the two men he threatened with his gun he received first degree assault verdicts, which is appropriate as well. I don't like late term abortion, but I feel economic reasons outweigh others for women in these situations, and until we as a society can do better for the "have not" women, we'll see more and more of this. Not that this is the only situation. I am pro-choice, but would like to see more appropriate monies afforded to women and girls who feel there is no other way, but would take one if they had a better chance. And I agree, this yelling and hypocritical way of treating others in the name of Jesus is hideous.

Isn't there something in the Bible that say, "thou shall not kill" ?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all ,as that fine upstanding. Example of the American spirit of unity said , " JUST Get along "but as long as their are people who sincerely believe it is acceptable to end a childs life simply becouse it would be a burden to the mother or the world, and there are also people who exercise their right to voice disagreement,we will never "just get along" man I'm so glad to be an American!
