I know a wonderful family (not rich mind you) but a woman who wanted nothing more than to adopt a child, any child white, black, asian, disabled it did not matter. After many long months and many tears and "no" from the welfare system she just gave up on the thought of having a child to call her mommy. I find it sad that so many children in the welfare system in the United States can not have a family to call their own. I think the Madonna's and Angelina's of this country should take a look in their own "backyard" to find a child to adopt, if in fact that is what it is about and not about the "thing" that hollywood is doing at the moment.

I don't doubt the children are blessed to be adopted, but I agree with what Dan had to say. If you want to help children for the right reasons, charity begins at home. I understand children all around the world need helped, but how many children in the USA get adopted after being abandoned or worse yet lose their lives. There are children of all different races and religions here that need help. America is the land of opportunity, but also has an increasing problem with an abused welfare system that has for years began to get out of control. I wonder at times, if the "stars" that are adopting these children are doing it for the admiration and press media...

I think it's a wonderful thing what Madonna did. Regardless of what people may think of her, she is giving this little child a better life and that's what important. I don't believe it's all about publicity either. I also don't think it should make a difference what race that little child is, as long as she grows up in a healthy and loving invironment, which Madonna will definately be able to do for her. I think people should just be happy she does care enough about these little children to give them a better life then what they had, and put asided their own feelings about her. She obviously cares or she wouldn't have done it.

We all have comments on what people should or should not do. I think if more people in the world looked out for all of the children who are suffering we wouldn't have the controversies that surround celebrities. Those of us in the US usually have more rooms in our homes and food in our refridgerators to easily accomadate 1-2 more children. Perhaps the negative comments are due to the guilt we feel because we are not taking care of those most in need here and abroad.

I'm happy for little Mercy and the opportunities she is being offered.
I think it might say more about Madonna's character if she wanted to adopt a child with a disability instead of the cutest one she could find. Angelina and Madonna seem to think that only the most attractive underprivileged children deserve a place in their family. Are they adopting or collecting?
I get that adoption is a very personal decision and I'm not trying to be overly critical. It just seems unfair that only the most beautiful babies get a chance at a better life.

Hi Jami,
Court TV has done it again. They have realized that society needs alot more in today's world. People's mind are moving faster which is good. At least I would think that because they are faster they will not have time to commit crime. Having three cases all at once is only the size of a pin head, but it's a start. Citizens can see what's out there to help the world of crimminal justice who needs help on a daily basis.

Madonna embody the most beautiful trait in life, compassion. She is clearly larger then life and continue to grow more beautiful and inspiring with every year of her life.

Madonna will do what's best for Madonna. This adoption will keep pumping out publicity for a long time to come. She is far too shallow, and egocentric a personality to be able to appreciate the goodness of such an act.

Hey Madonna, how about the millions of American black babies born every year from irresponsible mothers and non-existent fathers. Want some of those, we don't.

By the way:

The "bittersweet decision" made by the family?

You can bet it was made a little easier to swallow when Madonna grease their palms a little. Cash always makes the medicine go down.
