“The Governor”

Posted: 06:02 PM ET

NEW YORK–Rod Blagojevich is back. After an arrest on charges that he tried to sell the senate seat vacated by Barack Obama; after he named relative unknown Roland Burris to the seat, generating a new storm of controversy; after he was finally impeached by the legislature in his home state of Illinois; after all that, Blagojevich is back - with a book deal.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich

Tentatively entitled "The Governor," Blago's book will chronicle his election to Congress and his election and re-election as governor. Of course, Blagojevich was also the first governor removed from office in Illinois history, but he wants to tell his side of the story.

He wants to write about what he calls "the phoniness and hypocrisy" of politicians: their drinking, womanizing and other bad behavior. For that, he will receive six figures, which is good for a former governor who is out of a six-figure job and who is facing the prospect of an expensive criminal case. The book could improve his image, not to mention make some money which he might need for his defense.

But if Blago’s going to publish this book , he should have his attorney read it first, to make sure there are no admissions that could be used against him at trial; because, book or no book, the trial will go forward—in federal court.  And the feds don't mess around.

I wouldn't buy this book and I wouldn't read it even if it was given to me.

The man is a liar, a cheat and an insufferable egoist.

I hope Baloneyvich is put behind bars for years.

The state of Illinois should throw the book at him – his or theirs!!

Hello Jami, it's me again. I do concur with your statement that his lawyer should read it first before it's admissable. But another thing that needs to be considered is that with his pen he also creates a biased opinion. If I had to use exerpts from the book then I would have to try to determine truth based on fact and what was an interpretation of that truth. I can't allow a book to be cross examined that was authored by the defendent in my court, nor would I expect it to. The publication of this book, if read by possible jurors, could create a biasness either towards, or against Blagojevich. Justice is a balanced scale without bias. If I sat that court then I would ensure that. It is so often forgetten that justice is based on truth. Justice is derived on fact. Not on who you are, who you were, or the position you have held.

She holds her scale to show that justice is equal for all. Her blindfold allows her to see truth without bias and ensure that justice is for all and to all.

Only an egomaniac would write this book, only an idiot would publish it , and only a moron would buy it. I will acknowledge, however, that there's probably no one more qualified to write about "phoniness and hypocrisy" than Blago. Throw in cheating, lying and extortion, and you have a perfect description of a man who wouldn't know how to tell the truth if it smacked him in the face. Whatever he ends up writing (who knew he was literate?) should be catalogued as "autobiographical fiction."

JANE

I wish I had said it as well as you did – congrats

This guy is a nut case. I don`t think he`s known as anything else!!

This guy is such a piece of work. Absolutely his own worst enemy, I doubt he could write a book without lying so the likelihood of being sued and forever in the headlines seems likely. He is both arrogant and unintelligent...a deadly combination.

Just a short post for the "Dianne & Jane Lovefest" blog.

We live in America, folks. Anyone can write a book. "Anyone" has written books. Anyone remember that O.J. was an author?

Of course, Jami is the only attorney smart enough to realize the potential legal ramifications of a client writing a book about an ongoing situation. This probably had never dawned on Blago's attorney.

Having lived in the Chicago area, I know all about the corrupted polititons in Chicago. Grab a book and read for yourself just how many former Governors are now in Prison, Illinois even had a CROSS DRESSER to mar the image of politics in the Land of Lincoln, I could myself could write a book, which would be a #1 seller. Now for Blago, he is considered lower than a snake, but, if you knew the entire truth about the Obama senate seat, you would see who is the lowest, Obama not Blago. Chicago is taxed beyond belief, who is the cause of this, No, not Blago, it was Obama, raising the taxes in Illinois, it was the only thing Obama did for the Illinoians while he was in the senate seat, you do not have to take my word for it, just ask any Illinoian and see how they answer you. So Grab a pencil and go to work Blago.

Betty-

I really don't have to ask someone from Illinois what they think of Obama. I just have to look at how overwhelmingly they voted for him in the Presidential election. Maybe it's just the people you know who feel that way?
