Justice delayed

Posted: 04:19 PM ET

NEW YORK - Apparently an arrest is imminent in the Chandra Levy case. The 24 year old had just completed an internship with the U.S. Bureau of Prisons when she went missing in May 2001 in Washington, D.C.

Gary Condit

After her relationship with then-Congressman Gary Condit was revealed, Condit was all but convicted by the talking heads on the 24/7 cable news outlets and in the mainstream media too. Most appalling were the legal pundits, some of them lawyers, who seemed never to have learned about the presumption of innocence in law school.

Condit was never a suspect, but the misplaced spotlight ruined his career. More importantly, it distracted the rest of us from the truth.

Now, eight years later, prosecutors are finally planning to make an arrest in the case. The new suspect was convicted of attacking two women joggers in Rock Creek Park around the same time as the Levy murder and is now serving 10 years in prison. But he has previously denied any involvement in the Levy murder and he deserves the same presumption of innocence Gary Condit was denied.

Even more than for Mr. Condit, I feel for Chandra Levy's family. For them, justice has been corrupted, convoluted and, for too long, denied.

Personally I feel Condit's extra-marital affair with Chandra ruined his career.

This sounds like the misdirected focus on the parents of Jon Benet Ramsey. Gary Condit should have stepped up to the plate and admitted the affair in the beginning. I remember the interest in the attacker about 1 year after Chandra's disappearance.
About a year and a half ago there was an attempted break in of a young female's apartment through the bedroom window. Nothing done by the detectives. I think they will only come back when someone is raped or murdered in the complex. Sometimes law enforcement puts on blinders and justice becomes denied.

I wouldn't feel so bad for ?Condit remember he got rid of values in a dumpster in Arlington. VA. Also he lied when first questioned he should have manned up and said yes i had an affair but i didn't kill her and i'm willing to help in anyway..

In the case of The mother Kehoe. I think she knows right from wrong! I think it is aful that she did this . She may need help but she should be punshied she broke the law! She could have gotten help before . I feel bad for the living son who has to see his own mother go to jail! I pray everyday for her two sons and I hope they get justice. To plead this defence is sad! She knew what she was doing and she didn't care!
