Teen at center of alleged pipe bomb plot testifies

Posted: 09:29 AM ET

ORLANDO, Florida–Prosecutors are questioning the 18-year-old teen at the center of their case against Kenneth Reeves, the man accused of framing the high school senior after his stepmother allegedly rebuffed the 50-year-old’s romantic advances. Reeves is charged with burglary and possession of explosives. Jurors are expected to hear from Heather Davis as well.

Scott Davis, Jr. takes the witness stand

On Tuesday, Scott Davis’ father testified his son did not threaten to blow up his high school as alleged by Reeves in a tip to Orange County deputies last year, and denied his son ever possessed a pipe bomb. Scott Davis Sr. also testified he never gave Reeves permission to enter their warehouse, house, or vehicles for any reason unless they were home.

Jurors also heard from a forensic computer analyst that a search of the defendant’s computer hard drive revealed internet searches and downloads for information on explosives and how to make bombs. According to the analyst, “The Anarchist’s Cookbook,” was last accessed about 10 days before the first two pipe bombs were found in Davis’ home.

Throughout the day, jurors viewed photographs of evidence collected by crime scene investigators. The photographs showed the pipe bombs as they were found by bomb technicians and the pipe bomb’s shrapnel and components after they had been detonated.

Many photos showed items taken from the Davis family’s property, including a red toy rocket and a note that says “cause I feel like doing something stupid, really stupid” from Davis Jr.’s bedroom and black powder, bits, and a vice from the Davis family’s warehouse workshop.

Meanwhile, defense attorney Steven Laurence began to lay the ground work for his case, which is scheduled to begin today.

During cross-examination, Scott Davis Jr.’s grandfather testified that the 18-year-old was being treated for depression and had been involuntarily committed to a mental health facility in 2007. Jurors also learned Davis Jr. was expelled from his high school just weeks before Reeves first made contact with the police.

I would like to know the answer to this question. If Kennith Reeves was friends with the Davis family, why wouldn't he just go straight to the father Scott Davis Sr and say, hey I think you should know what your son is planing and what he (Scott Jr ) had just showed him the day MrReeves used the computer in the house, instead of calling the police first.
Thank You,

Connie, excellent question. Given the immediate danger faced by others, inclucing the Davis family in their own home, the logical thing to do would be to immediately tell the parents. Also, given the seriousness and intent of use of these so called pipe bombs, it is not logical that one would wait three days before contacting law enforcement. In fact it would be an inexcusable act. I also watched Reeves' testimony on cross by the prosecutor and find it difficult to believe that a sane human being would move what he believed to be active pipe bombs in the Davis home to take pictures of them to assist law enforcement. This man is quilty as charged.

This sociopath did not accept a plea because sociopaths are on disconnect. He has a self righteousness that is prevelant among sociopaths. Remember ,he is a convicted felon. I am glad he didn't take the plea if it meant he would ever get out of jail.

I have been watching this trial. Reeves had opportunity and he wanted revenge. That poor family will be picking up the pieces to restore their good name and the ability to trust anyone for a long, long time. I see a civil case around the corner.

I cant figure out who is lying and who is not, but I cant help saying that reeves just looks like such a creepy character--

What defense?Kenneth Reeves is guilty and had no reasoning for his behavior and made a huge mistake to testify on that stand.I think that Reeves is just plain crazy and looks it too! I cannot believe that any mother or father would stand by and allow that behavior from their own child, because it didn't happen.I'm a mother of 3 children and it just wouldn't happen.Maybe his motive wasn't Heather but he seen a family that he could attempt to pull this off on?!

Thank You..

You could just say that Reeves is a nutt bag...I hope that he is found guilty and put away were he deserves to be...He appears to have really messed up this poor familys name and not only that, but he has taken away their ability to really ever trust and befriend anyone again..I think in my opinion that Reeves had all this planned long before he followed through with it..By the way,i would love to tell Reeves nice move on the practice pill bottle picture...lol...There really is no such thing as a perfect crime and this man sure has shown us all that!
