LAS VEGAS, Nevada–It was a typical Friday night here, except for one thing. I, along with other media, was sitting in the hallway at the Las Vegas Regional Justice Center waiting for the jury to return a verdict in the case of the State of Nevada vs. O.J. Simpson.

O.J. Simpson embraces his sister, Carmelita Durio

As last evening dragged on, we were told jurors didn’t want to go home, they wanted to continue deliberating. In fact, at one point, the court’s public information officer came out and said the jury was so intent on their deliberations, they had asked court personnel to leave them alone, that they didn’t need bailiffs to even periodically check on them to make sure they wanted to keep working.

Finally, close to 11:00 p.m., (nearly 2 a.m. ET) Brent Bryson, defense attorney for co-defendant Clarence Stewart, bounded out of the elevator on the 15th floor, saying there was a verdict. As attorneys continued to arrive and even more media assembled, everyone waited for the two defendants in this case to arrive at the courthouse.

Finally, a very serious Simpson and Stewart were met by their lawyers to take their place for the verdict, where so much was at stake. Before jurors entered the room, an emotional Simpson hugged his best friend, Tom Scotto, and gave an endearing look to his sister, Carmelita Durio.

I watched the jurors file into the courtroom and only one alternate juror looked the way of Simpson. As the verdict began to be read for co-defendant Stewart, I heard count 1…guilty, count 2…guilty…count 3…guilty. I knew then and there that if Stewart was being convicted of all these crimes, so would Simpson.

The courtroom was so silent, but from my vantage point I could hear the quiet sobs of Simpson’s sister as she clung to the family’s spokesperson and loyal companion, Scotto. Simpson had come to Las Vegas in September 2007 to be the best man at Scotto’s wedding.

jean you have done a great job reporting on this case. oj got what he deserved. he is not above the law even though he is a celebrity.

AL   October 5th, 2008 12:50 am ET

OJ came for a wedding and it turned into a funeral…..I do suggest that the outcome was wrong. I did watch this drama unfold and if I was on the jury it would not have the same result. Two wrongs don’t make a right and therein the tragedy. The sad part is these thieves and jurors will try to make bucks off this and I say let Riccio take care of them. This guy is a work in progress, no one should touch this guy he’s poison and his litlle buddies with him. And as much as I believe in the law I’m not impressed with Judge Judy……… not even close to the real live TV personna. Talk about getting set up,what a sting, probably precipitated by the LV law enforcement folks.

Ryan N   October 5th, 2008 1:05 am ET

OJ Simpson even knew, resigned to the fact that he was going to be convicted. The look on his face was evident. OJ is many things but he is not totally stupid. He just made the mistake that he thought he was above the law but this time the jury got it right accordingly to the evidence presented. This jury actually based their decision on the evidence unlike the jury in the murder trial which was racially motivated. The truly sad thing if justice was served, OJ would of been put in jail 13 years ago as the evidence in that trial convincingly and convictly showed beyond any doubt . Yes, this is closure for a large part of America and is not about righting a wrong. It is about justice.

Pamela   October 5th, 2008 3:06 am ET

FINALLY justice is served! So, O.J. is upset because he may not see his kids graduste from college. Well, Nicole never will either. Looks like his luck has run out.

Cindy   October 5th, 2008 6:44 am ET

First of all let me start with the fact that, I did not follow the other O.J. court battles…and that I have never watched football..so I am not either for or against O.J. So heres my thoughts:
I think this is the most outrageous thing I have ever seen- I also think that if it were not O.J. this trial would never had happened…a couple of people would have got into a little trouble and it would had all been over with….but since it was O.J. it turned into …somewhat crime of the century!!! I cannot believe that they actually found O.J. and Stewart guilty….this is true UNJUSTICE…..
Also as I was watching..(only because I happened to wake up) at app. 2am I heard them doing a jury poll for Stewart and I know that I heard juror number 6 say NO,,,, Maybe I misunderstood but I do not think so.
Also I dont want to sound mean or anything and I really do not know much about legal issues…but this Judge seemed to me..to be more on the states side–just like most of the people around here that I know…because they were all saying Hooray they finally got him.. Just goes to show you…he wasnt being tried for this crime…it was for the old crime with his wife–and this Mr.Stewart might as well had been in that case.McClinton should be the one in the most trouble.

this is an atrocity , a miscarriage of justice,, these verdicts should have not happened,,,this judge should be disbarred,,, she didnt even let oj simpson and cj go home until the sentencing,,,,, she let the DA’s office and the prosecutor get away with things,,, also the jury ,, she let the DA and the prosecutor handpick who they wanted,,, and when the defense did the same thing,, she tossed the ones they did want,, out,,,,i am so angry and upset about this,,i will say this over and over again,, this was NOT a kidnapping ,, nor a robbery,,, hey if the gunman brought it on themselves to bring guns,, is that oj’s and cj’s doing i think not,, they did it themselves to make money,,, they even had recording devices on their persons,,,, well i hope the goldmans are really proud of themselves,, because for them,, money was all that matters,,,,, fred goldman himself looks like a shady person,, you cant bring ron back by money,,, let it go ,, go get jobs if you want money you and your daughter,,,,,,,,,,,, this is a shame,,,, for i am a caucasion woman of filipino and italian descent and what happend in that court room furiates me,,,,,,,,i hope these verdicts are overturned and i hope judge glass gets disbarred or investigated,,,,, theres something suspicous going on out there,, and again i hope the goldmans never get any of ojs belongings ,, this has gone on long enough.. all they want to do is stay in the spotlight,,,, even the browns have let nicole rest in peace,,, and for the other witnesses for the states gee all of them with records and they walk,,, where is there justice,,,,,,i said this before a kidnapping ,, is,, where someone takes you by force with you yelling n screaming ,, ties you up,, throws you in his or her vehicle and calls for ransom,, this was not the case,,,,,,a robbery ,, no this was not,,, just someone gettin their stolen stuff back

KC   October 5th, 2008 8:42 am ET

GREAT JOB as per norm Jean. You and Beth do GREAT work for In Session.

I have to say tho I disagree with the jury on this one. I think they were thinking of 1994 or maybe thinking they would right the wrong of OJ hiding that stuff all these years from the Goldmans and maybe make it worth even more. But in no way was OJ or CJ guilty of all 12 counts. I could have agreed maybe on a lessor count on some but not on all 12.

jeannie   October 5th, 2008 9:13 am ET

god bless the goldmans they can now begain to heal
a long waited verdict to put simpson where he belongs hopefully for life

Teresa G   October 5th, 2008 9:16 am ET

What a shame, no one deserves life in prison for that crime. How can give life in prison to two of them and the others go free or get 1 year? This is a injustice. I knew this would happen because of the California Case.

cindy   October 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

i belive the oj simpson trail was not fair at all the jurys were baseing the facts on the fact the oj may have murdered his x wife and ronald goldman , and was not found quity ,the whole thing was a set from the beginning ,oj is smarter than that.so it was a set up ,maybe when he appeals it needs to be in another country

jon   October 5th, 2008 10:57 am ET

you no alot of people said its pay back time from the 1995 verdict of not guilty but you have to remember it was are jury system that found him not guilty. there were alot of things that went wrong in that case. from police at the crime sceen and witnesses on the stand. so the only one that really no;s is god . in the las vegas case the d.a. had a solid case from riccios outio recorder tapes. and thats the last word.

Larry   October 5th, 2008 11:06 am ET

i know he’s guitly, but what troubles me is!, the fact that O.J.Simpson is a golfer or so it’s said he is. and he has such norieity what baffles me is is why doesn’t or didn’t he have a better class of friends not putting down the ones he hangs with but , as I mentioned he’s a golfer you would think he would hang with someone like oh i don’t know ah!, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Hugh Grant. thoes sort of celebrities. why people like Cleance Stewart, especially Albert Beardsley. One does have to wonder!!.

Gerald Becker   October 5th, 2008 11:12 am ET

Now the real circus will start. The media will be pushing the issue of race, unfair because it was only because of the acquital that this happened, the system failed, they framed him, etc. etc. etc. Well did the system fail this time or the last time. Does anyone really believe that everybody is out to frame OJ? I think the system works the way it was intended to work. Based on this incident, from what I heard during the trial and not the opinions of the media, OJ is where he should be. Ricco is the only one that should have gotten a deal.

Gussy   October 5th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Simpson can’t complaint after all, he’s been enjoying life, partying, playing golf for 13 years after he was declared innocent of murdering is wife. He has 13 years of freedom to his advantage.

Karen Dakins   October 5th, 2008 11:34 am ET

Well now there’s a big surprise! Guilty on all charges-on a case that was over-charged. I could see guilty coming on some chargesbut didn’t expect this. Unfortunately this is payback from people who disagreed with the L.A. verdict and don’t care if he’s guilty of anything–just that he pays. Only in America do so many black man pay for a crime wether or not they are guilty of that crime. I am so glad to be a Canadian.

D Water   October 5th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

the jury made the right decision

John Watson   October 5th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

AT last getting some of what he has coming.Hope he gets all of it in prison. He had 13 years of undeserved freedom. More than he gave his wife & Goldman. Thank you, jurors.

Sandy Stanton Heckt   October 5th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

I BELIEVE OJ HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BE A STAR AND FOOTBALL GREAT,,HE CHOSE TO MURDER HIS WIFE AND RON GOLDMAN,,HE HAD A SECOND CHANCE TO REPENT AND WALK AWAY FROM COURT A FREE MAN,,HIS EGO ONCE AGAIN GOT HIM WHERE HE IS TODAY,,IN PRISON,,I DO NOT AGREE WITH YALE GALANTER ONE BIT,,THIS WAS A CRIME,,BOTTOM LINE YALE, HE COMMITED A CRIME AND THE STATE OF NEVADA FOUND HIM GUILTY OF SAID CRIME,,DID OJ CONSIDER HIS CHILDREN WHEN HE WALKED INTO THE HOTEL ROOM,,DID HE COMSIDER HIS CHILDREN OR MOTHER WHEN HE SLAUGHTERED NICOLE AND RON…NO ALL HE CARED ABOUT WAH HIS EGO! FOR ME THIS IS POETIC JUSTICE AND I FOR ONE AN THRILLED TO SEE HIM PAY FOR HIS BEHAVIOR! GOOD LUCK IN PRISON OJ,,,

LAURIE   October 5th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

As said by others on this sounding board, if it would have been any one of us, we would already be in jail and it wouldn’t have been televised. The jurors saw through all the hype and came to the decision that taking somthing by force with a weapon, even if it does really belong to you, is against the law. The jurors have spoke. For once money didnt get OJ out of his predicament. I for one may start believing there is some justice out there.

Amy   October 5th, 2008 3:44 pm ET

I do think that Mr. Simpson was guilty of the murder charge, however I didn’t see anything in this trial that could make me think he was guilty of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.

Jimmy N   October 5th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

OJ finally got exactly what he deserved. He got away with murder because the jury totally disregarded the overwhelming convicting evidence and decided the case based on the color of their skin. The evidence in this case was also overwhelming and the jury did the right thing and justice was served. Nothing more and nothing less.

binita lee   October 5th, 2008 4:30 pm ET

OJ should have been judge by this current situation alone;
they should not have allowed any jurors that have preconceived judgement against him because of the trial he underwent a decade ago.
I think it is unfair to have him jailed for this current situation.

Mike Hill   October 5th, 2008 4:44 pm ET

KARMA is the great leveler—and it just leveled OJ.

sue florida   October 5th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Finally, finally, finally justice is on the side of the Brown and Goldman family. I am so happy for them that I could jump for joy. O.J. the killer, kidnapper, and the list goes on and on and on is going to get what is coming to him. I’m so glad that his smirk was erased from that smug face that he flaunted day in and day out at the Brown and Goldman family. So O.J. who are you going to give those golf clubs to?

JimC   October 5th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

Praise the Lord, justice has been done. I hope O.J. enjoys life behind bars.

Well… actually I hope he’s miserable beyond words.

jean   October 5th, 2008 7:45 pm ET

As they say…..GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD TRASH. I am sure you thought by Friday night you would be winging your way back home to your life, just like you did 13 years ago.

GOTCHA AND GOODBYE AND I HOPE WE NEVER SEE OR HEAR OF YOU AGAIN.

johnny   October 5th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

This is a travesty of justice. It was not about the armed robbery trial,it was about “payback” for the murders of his ex-wife and her friend.I guess innocent until proven guilty does not matter in this guilty. All the prosecution witnesses were liars and the prosecutors were on a witch-hunt.Folks,this is justice “made in america”.

phyllis harris   October 5th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

i think the whole thing is ridiculous. many people have been SEARCHING for ANYTHING to convict this man of any type of crime because many people think he should have been found guilty years ago for 2 murders. i think it is a shame that here in America only some people can be guaranteed a fair and impartial trial. like it or not this man was found INNOCENT of those charges 13 years ago and double jeopardy is supposed to be against the law but with the exception of o.j. simpson,he lost his jobs and credibility he had and they bulldozed his home down also he “owes” the goldman’s millions of dollars for a crime he was found innocent of. if anyone thinks he is crazy our system drove him there because of the way he has been unjustly treated. if he did commit those murders and he got off then God will have the final judgement on him. you can NOT go back and try him again for it which is what has just been done. SHAME on you for locking this man up for something anyone of you would have done for something special to you and a piece of your history. memories are what we have and are entitled to. the justice system even tried to strip him of that. what would you do in that case? are all of you HAPPY now you have stripped this man of his freedom and his children of their father and for what? hatred for something you can not change, that’s what!

Shayleen   October 5th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Please would someone let me know why, if the “property” was taken back in the late 90’s, why was there a football signed by OJ and dated 2003?

L. Paquet   October 5th, 2008 9:33 pm ET

I can only hope OJ now has come to the realization that he is not above the laws of our US. He was fortunate to have the previous 13 years to walk as a free man. It is only because of his absolute greed to keep the Goldman Family from getting what was rightly awarded to them so many years ago, that he is in the position he is in today. I am appalled at his behavior!!! I only hope his children will have oppurtunity in their childhood to have some decent, kind, law abidding
influences.

Rhonda   October 5th, 2008 11:11 pm ET

While, I think the defendants O.J & C.J. were guilty of something, but I DON’T think they should be guilty of these charges. The gunmen walk, and they lose the FREEDOM we all hold so dear, this is a injustice, I can only hope they to, can be free one day, to be with their families for the Holidays, like the gun-men will be!!!!!!!

J M   October 5th, 2008 11:54 pm ET

5 thought the verdict in 1995 was wrong and were allowed on the jury; all African Americans were excluded; testimonry of the civil case was allowed in. Appeal.

Walter J Irwin   October 6th, 2008 12:38 am ET

I wonder if she was crying for Simpson or his victims? This also makes one wonder what will happen to Fred Goldman now that the well has run dry … not much to be made making license tags or doing laundry. As far as Simpson’s fate goes, he will now have to live everyday wondering if someone looking for a little fame will do to him what he did to others, just to get a name for himself … of course the alternative is to become someones “girlfriend!”

MarLa M. Freeman   October 6th, 2008 1:10 am ET

I am just stunned about how OJ could be foung guilty on each and every charge. I myself do believe he probably got away with murder 13 years ago.But to punish him for this is just insane. My heart is just breaking for him even though I have never really liked him. This was just so unfair. I really think everyone in this country that believes in a fair trial should stand up for OJ and demand he does not get a harsh sentence. Remember, this could actually happen to you someday.

lloyd kline   October 6th, 2008 3:58 am ET

i cried also. it took so long to cry with joy. i guess the real killers are happy that you are not looking for them anymore. opps. gee wizz; you never did , did you? i’m so glad that you can only read this if someone bothers to send this in real mail to you. APPEAL HA HA HA HA .

Nora LaFlure, NY   October 6th, 2008 6:43 am ET

If Stewart was found guilty, then Mr. Simpson must also be found guilty. Facts are facts! The truth was told and justice was served. Life in prison? Not sure of that one. Mr. Simpson had choices, he is not above the law and if you get too close to a fire, you will get burned. His friends know that, his family know that and finally he knows that. Sicerely, Nora LaFlure, New York

joan kamen   October 6th, 2008 7:17 am ET

I disagree with the verdict, especially in the case of C. J. Stewart.

I jury relied on tapes and audio, then Stewart should not have been

convicted on all charges.

sundra   October 6th, 2008 7:31 am ET

if this jury went on the tapes why didn’t they go on what the cops said on tape why didn’t they hear when oj said i do not want anything thats not mines this was not about no tapes this was payback from that other case they wanted oj in jail and this judge was not fair why didn’t they hear when walter took the cellphone OJ said give him his phone back do not take his phone they heard what they wanted to hear then why 5 people on the jury said did not agree with the other case so that says alot that they wanted payback then OJ DID NOT EVEN HAVE A GUN BUT THE TWO MEN THAT DID THEY WALK FREE

sundra   October 6th, 2008 7:42 am ET

WHAT ABOUT MR.STEWART THEY SENT THIS MAN TO JAIL FOR LIFE THIS JURY IS ALBOUT RACE THEY CAN ‘T SAY THAT IT WASN’T NOW THE GOLDMANS WILL BE ON EVERY SHOW THAT THEY CAN THIS WAS PAY BACK FOR MR. OJ

Su   October 6th, 2008 8:30 am ET

You play, you pay…especially in Vegas. I commend the jurors for staying late and working hard on this case. It’s unfortunate that the defense had to come out and blast this jury with claims of prejudice. I don’t buy it. I, myself, didn’t have to believe any of the turncoats testimony. It was all in the tapes, and I truly believe that’s what got them convicted. As to their future sentencing, I think this fabulous judge will do the right thing, and not go overboard. People forget that while no one was actually hurt, guns kill people, they just lucked out.

lotusjani_33   October 6th, 2008 9:13 am ET

This is not fair verdict. They jurors might say what they want, but this was a set up and Riccio and company must be happy now for what they have done to O.J. The Goldman’s must to have a champagne party in a continuation of their hate for this man, and the Nevada police department and D.A. must think they are glorified forever. In my book these men conspired to convict this man for something that was judged and dismissed thirteen years ago. Let the dead rest in peace, and the living live with the remorse of what they have done. I am not an O.J. fan nor admirer, but this was just not a fair trial, all white jury?

danielle   October 6th, 2008 9:27 am ET

I know that the whole country, and perhaps the world is gloaing, saying ‘ha ha’ because of this conviction. But I cannot help but feel sorry for OJ. He is just a dumn jock. Instinctive and compulsive. And now he is an old man. According to OUR system he was aquitted 13 years ago. I watched every second of that trial and the govt did not prove him guilty back then. Now, he made a bad choice, and it is obviuos that his past acquital was a huge part. Give me a break people.

DOROTHY HODGE   October 6th, 2008 9:39 am ET

I’M JUMPING FOR JOY!!!! IT’S 13 YEARS OVERDUE.

Robert E   October 6th, 2008 9:43 am ET

O.J. Finally got what he should of gotten 13 years ago. Who out there does not feel relieved that this monster if finally off the streets??

Thank God Our Justice System did not Fail Again!!!!!!

Lois   October 6th, 2008 9:48 am ET

Such stupid actions caused so much grief to all involved. I am sorry that his sister has to go through all this. But ultimately, Simpson used very poor judgement, as did the others involved in this dumbness. I am surprised, I must add, that all counts were guilty, especially CJ’s charges. But I do believe the jury did the best they could. They seemed earnest and dedicated to do the best job they could. Just because a person is not the same color as the defendent, does not mean they cannot consider the evidence fairly. Not everyone is racist.

jamal lindsey   October 6th, 2008 9:59 am ET

I watch the case and im sadly to say im disappointed in this verdict. o.J found guilty by an all white jury. He was found not guilty for the murder of a white woman. That the real reason for verdict.

jan smith   October 6th, 2008 9:59 am ET

I DO NOT AGREE WITH OJ’S VERDICT. NO ONE WILL EVER CONVINCE ME THEY CONVICTIED HIM ON THE CASE 13 YEARS AGO. I AM A WHITE PERSON AND I THINK IT WAS VERY UNFAIR THAT THERE WERE NO BLACKS ON THE JURY. THE JURY ALSO DID NOT GO OVER ENOUGH OF THE EVIDENCE. I ALSO THINK THEY HAD THERE MINES MAID UP BEFORE THE WENT TO THE JURY ROOM. I DO NOT SEE IT AS A FAIR TRAIL AT ALL. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH OJ AND HIS FAMILY.

Brody LeBoeuf   October 6th, 2008 9:59 am ET

This judge Glass was completely pro prosecution, and this jury had it in for OJ from the time they set foot in that court room.I am outraged at this injustice and hopefully our appeals court will see this and overturn this miscarrage of justice and “MY GOD” leave this man alone,i am sick and tired of hearing about his (OJ) being found not guilty in California. From top to bottom in this case,(”that would not ever have seen the inside of a court room if OJ were not the defendent”)The so called Judge the prosecution the law enforcement and let’s not forget the so called jurors who to the last person had opinions about OJ(BAD ONES)from jump street, for them to say it didn’t enter there minds is a down right “LIE”.

Kevin   October 6th, 2008 10:01 am ET

Oj Simpson was found Guilty ONLY because he was aquitted back in 1995.. Don’t get me wrong, I believe he’s guilty of Killing Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, but he was aquitted..The public wanted OJ in prison because of the case back in Los Angeles and thats why he was convicted in Las Vegas.. For these juries to say that they didn’t even think about the trial back in 1995 is complete hogwash.. When you get 5 of 12 juries saying they believed he was gulity in the Los Angeles case, that showed they wanted him off the streets and in prison!!!
I also feel that he would’ve been aquitted in Las Vegas but his money ran out..Money bought him his freedom the past 13 yrs..
And thats my final opinion

Lesli Lampert   October 6th, 2008 10:05 am ET

The big question of this whole trial seemed to be “Did Stewart get ‘lost’ in this whole trial”? The answer to me? Just look at the 13th juror question. “Do you agree with the O.J. Simpson verdict”? My answer: Yes, and by the way, where was Stewarts name? Hmm, makes one wonder, doesn’t it?

Connie   October 6th, 2008 10:11 am ET

Its all about revenge against Mr. Simpson,God will take care of him.

Yolande   October 6th, 2008 10:13 am ET

Was it right that the jury said they did not any pay attention to what the witnesses said about him recovering his own propoerty and that it was intended to be a recovery not a robbery.

James   October 6th, 2008 10:16 am ET

I cannot believe that those jurors based their decisions solely on the basis of an audio tape that all white jury had a hidden agenda, why else would the prosecuter strike all blacks from the selection process. that jury was not a jury of Mr. Simpsons peers. And for the news media to highlight the fact that that decision came 13 years to the day of his aquittal is fueling the fire with gasoline. There is no evidene that Mr. Simpson commited those murders White America needs to get over their bias opinions of this and move on with their lives There was however evidence of shady dealings with Mrs. Simpson and Mr.Goldman with drig dealers in Columbia. The media needs to explore that aspect of the case.

Mel Haskell   October 6th, 2008 10:23 am ET

its insane to think that every body has tried to get this man OJ doesnt help himself but i cant help to believe that if OJ was a good old boy from Vegas he wouldnt be home drinking coffee.

Good show keep up the good work………..Mel

Randall Quesinberry   October 6th, 2008 10:23 am ET

After watching OJ’s trial, I watched every bit of evidence they had I am really scared to live in this country. He was convicted because of the the 1995 murder. This is justice in the back door. I perticuarly think the jury had a moral duty to do the right thing. Not one of the twelve had the rearend to stop this injustice. Now the whole country sees why people dont trust the jury system or the government. This is something Ive known for years and this is why I am scared to death. When you go to court, justice is not blind. Do I care about OJ Simpson? Not really, it doesnt effect me. I care about Justice and this is why I will be scared to death of the government until the day I die. They do as they please. Life in prison for that? Ten years in prison for that? That judge, that jury, those lawyers remind me of another country, I’m actually scared that this might happen to one of my relatives or loved ones.

Petronia   October 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

I knew OJ would not have recceived a fair trial in this case. Every one nows of his past acquittal. The jury in this case cannot honestly say that they judged him on this currently case. It came out this pass weekend that 5 of the jurers thinks he got away with murder in1995.

You don’t have to be stupid to read between the lines. It was clear to me from what I have seen of the trial that the judge was leaning in favor of the Prosecutors in every issue. I am not a fan of OJ’s but I am a big fan of our Constitution.

davion   October 6th, 2008 10:26 am ET

o.j shouldn’t go 2 jail.just for going t0 get his own stuff.the police and fbi wouldn’t help..i mean what was he surposed to do??

L. Malcomson   October 6th, 2008 10:34 am ET

You might be able to argue with the witnesses but you cannot argue with the tapes.

June Lewis   October 6th, 2008 10:36 am ET

Oh, poor baby!!!!!! I think Simpson got exactly what he deserved. Thank GOD for those jurors. And, as far as Yale Galanter is concerned, get a wham-bulance, would ya? Oh, how his attitude would have been so different if O.J. was found not guilty. It is insulting to those jurors for folks to be so critical of them. They reached a fair and honest verdict. Give them some credit. They earned it. And, shame on Jaime Floyd. She can be so disgusting with her attitude. She is so one-sided when it comes to O.J. We all don’t agree that he is always innocent. Open your eyes Jamie!!!!

We are human and we make decisions based on logic and on emotion. Like it or not, things that others do are cumulative. When we can’t tolerate our spouses actions anymore we say “I’ve had it with you. I want a divorce”. When our kid disobeys time after time we say”I’ve had it with you. Go to your room and stay there until I tell you to come out” When an employee continually screws up we say”I’ve had it with you. You’re fired”. When OJ Simpson constantly is in trouble with the law we say “Go to your cell and don’t come out untill I say you can”.

Audrey   October 6th, 2008 10:38 am ET

He was guilty 13 yrs ago and he is guilty today. I dont care how big of a super star one is they should not ever walk or be praised in away shape form or fasion for there past, and each and every person regaurdless of their stature in the public eye should be held to the exact same laws as a low class family member. If some 18yr old kid did the same things as OJ Simpson then and now, he would have been railroaded in to court so fast that he would not even relize he was convicted until he heard the clink of the prison cell. I was 18yrs old at the time of OJ’s first trail, and I knew he was guilty, and I was let down by the system to hear that he was aquited. So what if this case now has anything to do with the murder case 13 yrs ago, I say let them assiociate the two cases even if it is double jepordy, I think in this instance that it is called for, I think that the familes should have asked for an apeal if that were possible. If we the people let every high rank stature of a person off the hook every time they do something unlawful, the we must not hold high standards for our selfs, and if we continue to not hold high standards for our selfs then we might as well be looking for yet another “black eye” from another country who thinks we are unworthy to have such a country that we all say we hold dear and near. If we do hold high standards then every aspect of our counrty needs to be upheld reguardless of how tiny the aspect is.

Kelly   October 6th, 2008 10:46 am ET

O.J. has been on the outskirts of the law for some time now. Eventually he was bound to end up to be “just like any regular guy” who steps outside of the law to get what he wants, gets caught, and ends up being on trial for his actions. This jury realized that this man is a thug who relies too much on his supposed “celebrity” status to get away with things that most other people would also end up being on trail for and spending time in jail for the crime.

Richie   October 6th, 2008 10:47 am ET

The jury saying that they were impartial in reaching their verdict is a joke. There is no way 12 white persons, 9 of them being women are going to sit in judgement of O.J Simpson and come up with an impartial verdict.
No way!

G. BRICKNER   October 6th, 2008 10:48 am ET

O.J. Simpson was convicted because of what happened in Calif.
If he had been John Q Public the charges would never have been filed because of all the shady characters and their terrible backgrounds. The 2 guys with the guns get off with total immunity/probation how is that justice. The police and D.A. wanted to get him and they did. Tom Riccio basically sold him for money and immunity. Was what he did STUPID absolutely but not worthy of jail time and certainly not life in prison, peole who rape/ kill people don’t get life in prison.

JD Keiss   October 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

What a terrific job In Session did covering the full gamut of this case. I was worried that this jury, like so many before them in a high-profile case, would not have the courage of their convictions in weighing all the evidence to find the truth. I am pleased that they were able to navigate all the facts and come to the proper conclusion.

I’ve always believed that when a person does something gravely wrong even though they may not appear to be punished for the bad deed they will pay in the end. What goes around comes around. He’s a lowlife hiding behind a football career. Nothing more. He should rot in jail in total aloneness. He took away 2 people from this earth and many loved ones have suffered dearly for it. His children from Nicole are the ones he hurt the most, how tragic. His selfishness and narcissisim finally caught up to him. Finally a jury did the right thing instead of finding him not guilty based on his race they found him guilty based on his bad deeds.

sundra   October 6th, 2008 11:00 am ET

this judge sat in said get him out of here talking about OJ SHE SHOULD OF BEEN REMOVED THIS JURY IS TELLING LIES THIS JUDGE GAVE THE DA ANYTHING THEY WANTED SO OJ CAN GO TO JAIL FOR LIFE WHEN THE MEN THAT HAD THE GUN WALK FREE COME ON THIS WAS ABOUT GETTING OJ IF THE FBI COULD NOT TELL WHAT WAS DONE WITH TAPES HOW CAN THE JURY THEY WANTED PAYBACK SO STOP LIES

Philip   October 6th, 2008 11:04 am ET

I live in fl. not far from OJ .I am sadden to see such a stupid thing is going to put him away for many years however the law is the law
and we all have to follow it. I feel for the jurys who now will be second guessed and called racist , I would have came to the same vedict.

kurt   October 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

It was apparent from this jury’s body languade that they were not genuine. They knew as well as this judge before this case begun that they believe O. J. was guilty. I have never seen a judge prosecute a case before as this judge has. I agree with Mr Galanter on his assessment of this judge. He cannot say the things I can about this judge. She was not impartial at all and I think she is not fit to be a judge. How this jury could lie afterwards about how they came to this decision. they must have been living in a vacuum not to have been aware of the L.A. trial. O.j. should have looked at the history of Las Vegas before going there to retrieve his items. It was the early 60’s before black people could go on the so called Las Vegas Strip not much different from the deep south at the same time. That citizenry has not changed.

dan roberts   October 6th, 2008 11:30 am ET

in her normal fashion, Jami Floyd thinks every defendent is innocent & is dismayed when they are convicted. she demands that the public & the jury disregard Simpson’s aquittal of murder - which is absolutely correct!! Then she attempts to link it herself - “predjudice, no blacks on the jury, the number 13 being too coincidental- ooh, a conspiracy (AGAIN), revenge, improper procedures, poor defendents families, overcharging, etc”. Jami needs to wake up - there are bad people doing bad things & they need to be punished - even if they are BLACK!

Buck   October 6th, 2008 11:31 am ET

OJ… OJ… OJ (shaking my head) you should’ve gotten out of the country after the murder trial. They’ve had it out for him every since then. I think OJ was screwed.

John Q Public   October 6th, 2008 11:33 am ET

OJ was guilty from the word go. He committed an armed robbery, these lawyer make me wonder where they live not physically but mentally. There was no excuse for what OJ did. There are thousand of pieces of OJ memorabilia out there is OJ allowed to get his buddies together and arm themselves and steal it back. OH but it was really mine. There was no evidence that any of the property was stolen form OJ.
Life in prison is my judgment.

sundra   October 6th, 2008 11:39 am ET

WHY DID’NT THE JURY HEAR WHEN THE SO CALLED VICTIMS SAID TO OJ THAT MIKE TOOK IT WE DID’NT TAKE IT MIKE DID IT

Thelma Quimby   October 6th, 2008 11:42 am ET

I want to comment on OJ Simpson trial. yes I was one who watched all his trial back 13 years and I also thought that he was guilty back then and got away with it because he had money for the best lawyers.
Now today we are hearing again about an act that he has done that is cimminal. Of course I haven’t seen any of the evidence but it sounds like they had alot of good solid evidence that this act was commented. I feel whether this has been a all black jury or a mixed jury and they came out with the same results we would still be having all this same news comments and it almost like more OJ he wasn’t treated fair. They had the chance to omit any one from the jury so they should not complain. Now just one more thing. If I had done his crimes or was accused of them and charge with them, No one would even know except for my local news. And most likely I would already be in jail for the first crime. I am not sure but if I remember right all of his memorablities were supposed to be given to the Goldmans. So what right did he have to go after them. I am not good at writting down what I feel but I hope I have written it right.

REVENGE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY
Could the jury be more obvious that they wanted to
return a verdict on the anniversary of him being
acquitted 13 years ago.
Three weeks of testimony, hours of tapes and they
come back in 12 hours with a verdict.
Since when is Karma and revenge suppose to be part
of a trial and verdict.
If this is what you call the best judicial system
in the world. Then I’m glad I’m Canadian.
The only thing missing from OJ and CJ’s trial was
those 9 female jurors sitting there in the jury box
throughout the trial wearing a long blonde wig,
looking like Nicole Brown Simpson.

Ski   October 6th, 2008 11:46 am ET

To : Tom Scotto and Carmelita

If you are completely heartbroken and simply cannot believe the verdict, I have terrific advice. Speak with those who loved Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Maybe they can give you some tips on how to handle REAL INJUSTICE.

Remember! You will have the opportunity to visit your pompous OJ.

Sorry. Not even an ounce of pity for your melodramatics!

Betty   October 6th, 2008 11:54 am ET

The jury said they listened to the tapes over and over and filled in the blank spaces. For the number of tape hours, and if they continued to listen to them over and over, how did they have time to deliberate on the actual testimony and witnesses. I think that at least one juror, admitting that he thought O.J. should have been guilty at the first trial had his own agenda. A statement was made that they heard things that no one else heard, how did they know whose voices were, the modulation wasn’t that clear.

Lanette   October 6th, 2008 11:55 am ET

I believe he was convicted based on the L.A trial. We have to be honest with ourselves, we all wanted to see him put in jail for the murders of Nicole Simpon & Ron Goldman, and here was the chance. My opinion…. the Las Vegas case was very weak and just stupid. This is the kind of thing that happens when your “Black-balled”, you can’t spit on the ground-without getting in trouble. From what I’ve heard, he (Simpon) didn’t even have a weapon. The justice system got there revenge. That should be a lesson to us all, when their gunnon for ya, it doesn’t matter whether you did anything or not, they (the Law) can make it appear as if you did.

Lloyd Gustin   October 6th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

OJ is the best man for Scotto in JAIL ! OJ got his day in our court system.

Anna Riley   October 6th, 2008 12:08 pm ET

How can the jury justify their verdict. Are the BLIND? It was an obvious set-up from the start. This is just like the civil verdict. The media did everything possible to convince the public that OJ was guilty of murder and when he was aquitted the so called judicial system had to go after him again, and again and again. Does the jury REALLY think that photos of OJ’s family were given to some one to sell??? I still believe this is payback. And is it just a coincendence that the Goldmans were on Dr. Phil while the trial was gonig on? More media convincing the public he is guilty. I for one do not believe that he was guilty of murder or that he should be convicted of getting his personal items back.

fran   October 6th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

This verdict was total wrong. it was based on 1995 verdict, yes he was wrong the way he went about getting his items, but too go to prison for life! very uncalled for. they were out to get him and they did. I am sickened by the Goldman’s smart remarks, yes their son was killed but he was set free!! alo Gloria Allred T-Shirt was very appalling I thought she had more class then that!

My heart goes out to his family and hope they all survive and stand by him.

J   October 6th, 2008 12:31 pm ET

the right verdict-guns were there and OJ was the leader.

Elliott R   October 6th, 2008 12:31 pm ET

Its hard to blame the jurors for not looking at OJ, he is after all a civil murderer. Who knows, maybe he’d get out of prison and hunt them down like Nicole.

Also the jury relied on ‘tape’ evidence, which was direct evidence. Why would they have relied on the the cast of clowns that were a bunch of scum buckets looking for a buck.

And shouldn’t Galanter be held in contemp for declaring in open court “mistrial.” Since that isn’t the proper procedure in Nevada (he should have approached the bench).

In Las Vegas if you go into a casino with a gun and rob the cashier station you’d be charged in the same way OJ did.

OJ ‘gave away’ this property to avoid the Goldman judgement. So he was trying to circumvent the law when he did that too.

Barbara Sills   October 6th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

I hope that Nevada knows how to treat O.J. when he is in jail, in Calif.
we did. O.J. needs a private cell, his own bed, a private telephone line and T.V. Always allow him to have good meals brought in to him, and
his family and friends should not have to stand in line with the other visitors. Please allow them to pass the lines and go right in. If you don’t do all this, O.J. may get angry and you know what he can do if he gets upset. Bee of California.

Sue   October 6th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Let me start off by saying I’m not an OJ fan. I feel he was 100% guilty in the murder of Goldman and Nicole. But does not anyone else find this all a bit odd? All the recording of what took place during this deal? Criminals taking plea deals to put OJ away?

Certainly, the first trial was a miscarriage of justice, but do we really want to be proud of putting OJ in jail under these circumstances?? Something was hooky about it all from the beginning and while I would have loved to have see him locked up forever the first time around I don’t feel good about what may have taken place the second time around. Two wrongs don’t make it right….

jim obrien   October 6th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

this should have not even went to trail. and the jury what they said after the trail. and how they could find him guilty. it just makes you wonder if anybody can get a fair trail. un real what went on.

J Kilpatrick   October 6th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

I just “caught” the last part of “the last word” and thought………cannot deny how Jamie feels about OJ…….talk about being bias……..and she feels sorry for OJ’s family? I feel for the Goldmans and for the Browns and also the two kids who have missed their Mom for the past 13 yrs.

lorraine of california   October 6th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Like it or not, the jury has spoken! No matter what the verdict, they would have been criticized. The Judge has the decision on his sentencing. We all know this will never be over. The appeals will go on and on for years. And we all know how much OJ loves to be heard, and so loudly. We will never stop hearing from him. I wish he never would have gone to the Palace Station. I wish he would have stayed out on the golf course and “tried” to live a “private” lifestyle. I also wish everyone would stop being so obsessed with celebrities and treat them as regular people with a really good career. Only then can we argue “justice for all”.

Brandon Fraraccio   October 6th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

I think the verdict was morally wrong. How can you convict someone of retrieving thei own personal belongings!? All twelve accounts is just RIDICULOUS! He has done nothing wrong in my opinion. Some of the counts were stupid, he didnt even posses a gun. Yet he was charged with it. Kiddnaping there was none of that as well. Everyone said O.J. was set up. Fromong said he didnt want to press charges I mean come on! Then there’s Riccio recorded the whole thing! If that’s not a setup then I dont know what is! Everyone gets off because they made deals but O.J. Gets life. LIFE! The gaggle of geese should have flown north for the summer.

Stephan Srock   October 6th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

As in the arrest for the murder of Ms. Brown and Mr. Goldman and his arrest last year, the look on Mr. Simpson’s face was not one of “I did it” rather it was one of “I got caught”. Congrats to the jury for not being swayed with the wishes of some and for being able to come to their respective conclusions based on the evidence, most importatnly, the tapes.

Danielcrew   October 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Karma, baby, karma.

Alice   October 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

He should have been put away 13 years ago and the same this time.
OJ think ’s he’s above to law well he’ not.
Well done to the Jury for seeing thought him this time for what he his.
I did live in CA when he did the Murder’s and did visit the home of Nicole there was know place for them to go as OJ had them trapped in such a small place with the gate closed it was so sad to see it.
Guilty, Guilty,

Mike   October 6th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Don’t some of you not get it. You can’t walk into a hotel room with guns and take things even if you do own them. You can’t hold people either. That’s against the law!!!! If I did that I should go to jail too.OJ thinks he is above the law and he isn’t. Thank God this jury could see the law and do what’s right.

morgan   October 6th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Questions:
1. Will Simpson serve his time in Vegas or Florida?
2. What happens to his pension?
3. What happens to his property in Florida?
4. Will the Goldman’s get to retrieve the stolen property?

Thank you.

Niecey   October 6th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

Come on, we all knew this was going to happen from the beginning when they picked an all white jury. This whole case was based on what happened 13 years ago and that’s what he was convicted for(the murders). They knew they were going to convict him before the trial even started. He wasn’t given a fair trial at all regardless of the fact that he may or may not know what happened with Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. But hey…I wish ALL families involved in this 13 year long battle to get O.J. good luck. He slipped up as well because he should’ve stayed out of the spotlight.

Tina   October 6th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

Yes, a black man can get a fair trial from an all white jury. If the tapes states “Don’t let anyone leave here” and it is OJ’s voice that is heard on the tape saying it - that is kidnapping. No other way around it. And regardless of whether he knew the men had guns or not, he is charged the same.

That is like robbing a store as a group, if you don’t have a gun, you shouldn’t be charged the same? Hello…..

Tonya   October 6th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

I”M HAPPY!!! WITH THIS VERDICT and not because of what happened 13 years ago. I watched the entire case on CNN live. And his own Lawyer in closing said he did it. But, what was he suppose to do. EVERYONE in this country has laws to abide by. He thinks his celeberity will get him out of this and out of things for whatever reason. He now has the 13 year old case to hide behind also. Guess what, he’s wrong. That excuse is getting tired TOO. I don’t care for the ones in the comments below who are just like OJ using this as an excuse to again get away with doing things his way. He is not above the law. If it had not been about the 13 year old case card to use. It is now about a racial card. Quit playing all the cards like these. And just be quite and do your time for your crime. NO ONE has said for sure he’s getting life. Everyone is assumeing this. And we all know what assumeing does in this world. No matter how you slice the bread it’s still bread and he has to suck it up and or cry in his milk. I’m very pleased this jury had the guts to follow through with all they had to come to this decision.
Good day all.

chuck morrow   October 6th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Thirteen years ago, we were told by a “jury” of O.J.’ peers, to”Get over it”.

Now it’s our turn……

FAL   October 6th, 2008 1:37 pm ET

#1-OJ admitted that HE set this little party up to retrieve his possessions. Therefore, he was not set up, everyone else was!
#2-OJ admitted that he did it in Las Vegas so Goldman couldn’t get the money that was rightfully his.
#3-OJ had no legal right to take the law into his own hands and retrieve things he SAYS were his. He is obligated to do it through legal means, otherwise there could be a crime committed (which there was).
#4-Don’t forget that OJ WAS found liable for Brown and Goldman’s murder in civil court. (Much less of a circus that the criminal trial).
#5-OJ Simpson chose the life of celebrity, so anyone who feels sorry for him is foolish. Of course his life is going to be spread all over the news media. Of course people are going to remember everything he did that was reported in the paper. That doesn’t mean the jurors of this trial were anything but fair. I repeat, HE CHOSE THE LIFE OF CELEBRITY SO HE MUST ACCEPT ALL THAT IT HAS TO OFFER!
#6- There is no reason to believe that black jurors would have dediced any differently. They can be as impartial as anyone else.

Beth   October 6th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

Outragous! OJ never stood a chance of a fair trial…and no one showed that more than Judge Jackie Glass and her obvious hatred for OJ and his defense team. The 13th hr on the 13th day of the anniversary of the 95 trial…too much of a coincidence! The whole thing stinks and its a simple case of payback!! I wish the defense team every sucess in the appellate court!

ernie   October 6th, 2008 1:49 pm ET

Bad things happen to bad people. This guy is obviously very dumb, and does’nt understand the law applies to everbody. He deserves to get a lenghty sentence based soley on this crime. Big Ego leads to nowhere.

sp   October 6th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

Only in America can you be tried three times for the same crime! Let’s get this straight: Riccio gets in touch with OJ and sets the whole thing up, records it= immunity. McClinton& Alexander have the guns try to extort money from OJ and Scotto AND ( this did not come out during the trial) had a camera on their belts video taping the whole thing to make money off of it =Alexander probation and most likely the same for MC.ETC. ETC. Stewart and Simpson are facing LIFE? LIFE while the others are walking away. Don’t forget the jury making sure that the verdict came 13 years to the DAY of OJ’s acquittal. If that wasn’t sending a message then I don’t know what is!

Jeanette Martinez   October 6th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

OJ will not be able to play golf, hide items from Mr. Goldman or beat up his girlfriend….was he still looking for Nicole’s murderer???
I think he got what he deserved. It seems to me that he always thought he was above the law simply because he was a celebrity. I noticed that none of his children were there…I feel sorry for the others involved in this matter. If it weren’t for OJ they would not be in the trouble they found themselves in. But, come on if you use a gun and hold people against their will, steal items in their possession, what do you expect. I hope he stays in jail until he dies..

charlie   October 6th, 2008 2:21 pm ET

I feel sad for us as a people if we think this was justice in any way. Would you care to step in his shoes.. Wouldn’t it be something one day to find out that he really didn’t committ the murders 13 yrs ago, and this rediculous gottcha now attitude in our court rooms is a waste of valuable tax dollars. There should always be professionalism & fairness inparted by the Judge..I watched..it wasn’t. Two wrongs don’t make a right. I truly don’t believe its good “Karma” for the Goldmans’ to be vengefully joyful about this. No-One was joyful when he lost his son! Mr. Simpson could be anyone’s son, brother or father. I believe in totalilty this whole mess from then and now is just another American Tragedy. This all started as a Love Story with our American Hero of an Athelete with joining two+ beautiful families together, Now what do we have. There are kids once again paying the price. with love..have a conscious free day America!

Mari   October 6th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Go to Las Vegas, bust into a hotel room with an armed posse and then try saying you just wanted your stuff back! See what happens to you! Doesn’t matter whose stuff it was, it’s the manner in how it was retrieved. In this case, IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW!!!! Anyone would be charged and convicted the same way. OJ is the one that brought this on himself. Just go away. Sick of you and the whole thing!

Jean   October 6th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

It was so obvious that the Judge was biased against the defense. She was obviously fed up with the whole trial and didn’t mind showing it. This whole thing was set up by Riccio and unfortunately Simpson to the bait hook line and sinker. This was a bunch of old guys acting foolish and I don’t believe there was ever an intent to commit a crime. I don’t believe for one minute that the jurors didn’t have the first trial in the back of their minds. Life in prison for these “shenanigans”, please! Don’t we need the space for rapists, murderers and such?

Ben   October 6th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

I din’t think you could have stacked the deck any higher then they did. this guy was convicted as soon as the all white jury was selected. He may have been guilty of murder but here he was just guilty of a poor pick of a lawyer by his lawyer allowing all the white jurors.I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out that the Goldmans didn’t have a part in this setup of OJ Simpson.

Linda Clement   October 6th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

This was an unfair trial and people need to stop trying people on pass mistakes.

karen   October 6th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

So, everyone says Simpson isn’t the same since the first trial, well Guilt will do that to a person. I always hear what goes around comes around. Seems like a full circle for Simpson.

Jose   October 6th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

With that judge, O.J. will get two consecutive life centences, one for Goldman and one for Brown-Simpson, but ofcourse “the 1995 case had nothing to do with this one”, yeah wright !!!!!!!!

Jose

Cynthia   October 6th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Justice was done in this case. O.J. Simpson is where he belongs and the jury did their due dilligence in this case. The evidence was clear that OJ orchestrated the robbery and kidnapping and he got what he deserved. It is just the frosting on the cake that someone as vile and arrogant as O. J. Simpson couldn’t use his celebrity and money to buy his way out of paying for his crimes this time.
I think it was divine justice that his guilty verdict came 13 years to the day that he took the lives of two innocent people. Finally, this wife beater, murderer, bully and thief will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Patty   October 6th, 2008 3:26 pm ET

Why has everyone forgotten where the lute came from, it belonged to the Goldman’s not OJ, so why was he even trying to get stolen goods? claiming they were his? He is now where he belongs, in jail he will be with his peers and if he wants to do something wrong he won’t get to far.. He should have respected 13 years of aquired freedom,,,

Alexandria Loring   October 6th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Two people caused this to happen, O.J. Simpson & Thomas Riccio.
But for them, there would not have been an “Incident”! These are the two who knew the items were not stolen from Mr. Simpson and conspired to retrieve them anyway!
My heart goes out to Mr. Stewart who no doubt was hoodwinked into helping a friend. Mr. Riccio should have been in his seat.

Art Hall   October 6th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

That judge and jury were a joke. From the beginning of the trial one could sense the judge’s dislike of the the defense team. She tried to hurry them through their witness examinations apparently to help the prosecution win the desired result - a guilty verdict. She can now go and write her book - make her million all on the back of OJ Simpson’s stupidity. Guilty on all charges- are you kidding me. This jury was asleep at the wheel, prejudice or just plain stupid.

chelsea   October 6th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

I watched the murder trial religously and couldn’t believe, with an eye witness, who saw him driving away from the scene, he was found not guilty. That alone should have given that jury more thought than they gave it.

What I wonder about this, why a recording? How did the one who made the recording know to do so???

terrie   October 6th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

I can honestly say without guilt that I dont care why this jury found him guilty..whether they were doing it for the 1st trial or evidence in this trial i was the happiest woman on saturday night at 11:00pm. He had a second chance at life ( more than Nicole or Ron) after the 1st trial and he continued to be obnoxious and smug. While that isnt a crime he shows he had no remorse for the death of his ex wife or mother of his children. He continued to believe he was special and above the law.Of course he did hang around with some low lifes..certainly didnt hear about him being with his ex wealthy or important friends. I certainly hope he rots in jail. He probably wont…because you only have to servce 1/3 your sentence before eligible for parole.
Why is everyone screaming racist jurors now because they are white. Why wasnt it racist when all the blacks on his 1st jury found him innocent? Beside he and his attorneys are there when they pick the jurrors.Well it feels good to get this off my chest after 13 years. God Bless the justice system it does finally work

J. Bolton   October 6th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

On the tape, O. J. Simpson was the one who said loud and clear, “Nobody leaves this room.” In Nevada, and many other states, that constitutes kidnapping. So, on that count alone, he is obviously guilty! I can’t believe some of these people writing here can’t grasp that. If one person or two people had a gun during this event, the law states ALL are guilty. Again, whether he knew about the guns or not, and I believe he knew, people in that room were people he asked to accompany him and that makes them ALL guilty. Lastly, for those who think it is a travesty for the “gunmen” to get off lightly for testifying, this happens all the time in legal cases. It is not an instance of “just because it’s O.J.” The sentencing will be for acts done in this case, not the case 13 years ago. If he’d kept his nose clean, he wouldn’t be in trouble now.

I watched both trials and believe he got away with murder. I cant believe he would be so dumb to associate with those thugs after getting away with murder. GREED is what gets most criminals and his greed to beat the Goldmans out of a few pictures and footballs is what is costing him his freedom. I dont think he should get life for the theft but I can see the 5 to 15yrs just like any other criminal and he should consider himself lucky he got the chance to commit that last crime because he should have already been in the pen. He was freed by a black jury 13 yrs ago , his luck just ran out because of greed. He should have stuck with golf balls and left them footballs go with the Goldmans. May Nicole and Ron rest in peace and many sleepless nights for the killer OJ.

Bob   October 6th, 2008 4:04 pm ET

1. He had given the stuff away so the Goldmans wouldn’t get it. 2. They planned to take it, in Nevada that is robbery, whether it was his or not. 3. He told everyone to not let anybody leave, that is kidnapping. 4. He tried to get everyone to say there were no guns, he wouldn’t say this unless there were guns. This makes it armed robbery. 5. In Nevada, entering a building to commit a crime is burglary. 6. They agreed ahead of time to go there and take the stuff, that is conspiracy. 7. Case closed, next case.

this is a legally wrong, the men with guns talk & walk, OJ & CJ get LIFE what is wrong in Las Vegas do they not see insanity facing them in the face, and the Judge, remind me NEVER to go to LAS VEGAS, and be subjected to ” her head spinning” of fire coming out her mouth, I did not know judges could act like that,

Randal Q.
I agree with you, if your relatives and loved ones are stupid enough,
like poor ol O.J. to go into a hotel room with a bunch of other thugs
waving guns and stealing anything that is not nailed down, I think
they deserve the same treatment. I happen not to have that kind of
friends or love ones. Apparently you didn’t watch the same case
that I did.
He got what he asked for. The jury has spoken. JUSTICE SERVED,
CASE CLOSED, NEXT CASE !!!!!!

Hoplefully there will be NO BAIL let him sit in the cell till senececing day he is a CONVIICTED FELON treat him like one. Some one up there has a great sense of poetic justice.JOB WELL DONE DETECTIVES , PROSEUTERS, JURY AND HIGH PRAISES TO THE JUDGE SHE WAS AMAZING TO KEEP ORDER IN HER COURT ROOM .

Dawn   October 6th, 2008 4:27 pm ET

Regardless of whether he was set up–HE DID IT!!!. Regardless of whether it was his stuff–HE DID IT!!! Regardless of whether the Las Vegas Police said “We’re gonna get him”, HE DID IT!!! They can’t get him for doing it if he wasn’t there and if he didn’t say that no one could leave the room. He got caught up in his own game and guess what??? He lost this time.

I want to start by saying that i didnt believe a word the jurors said about the old murder case making a difference in this verdict and also i thought the judge in this case was one sided through out the entire case i watch this case all the way to the end. I also feel even if i were a judge myself i wouldnt allow a all white or black jury and i dont understand what difference it makes to the court how religious a person is to determine if a person can be picked for the jury or not and this really was a revenge case and clearly a set up and for the record we really couldnt understand those recordings. But i believe that god has the final say and i dont care who you pray to god has the final word and i belive this verdict can be overturned i dont care how long it takes. And it wasnt fair to find cj guilty on all counts to or oj. God bless you all because revenge is just as bad as anything else its wrong.

OJ got what he deserved. He’s very lucky that Furlong only had a heart attack and not that one of those guns went off or he’d again be accused and held on murder charges. When a crime is committed, EVERYONE involved is guilty by association. OJ has always thought he was above the law. Hiding assets and property so the Goldmans couldn’t retrieve and sell it to appease the legal judgment. (which by the way is illegal) OJ thought he could just go in and take it. Why if it was stolen so many years ago, wasn’t there a criminal report made back then? Because he was hiding it. That’s why. He chose the wrong state to mess with this time. It has nothing to do with 13 yrs ago.. There was evidence, the jury voted. GUILTY. If it was you or me we would NOT get bail, be able to fly back and forth to FL. We’d be sitting in jail cell till judgment day! “What goes on in Vegas, Stays in Vegas”.. he’s going to have a long stay!

Finally O.J. will be able to continue his persuit of the murderer of his ex-wife, FROM BEHIND BARS! With daily face to face time with criminals surely the real killer will finally be found.

I’m not certain if I am the only american who caught the comment by attorney Gallanter while on ‘In Session’ this morning. Basically, Rikki Klieman asked a question of him regarding the juries ability to remain unbiased. In the latter part of his response, rather quietly I might add…he made reference to the trial 13 years ago and subsequently said something along the lines of ‘there have been 2 instances of injustice’. Again, you will need to listen closely but the implication as far as I was concerned was that he jury was wrong both 13 years ago and now. If I heard correctly, this seems to do his client serious disservice. I believe it came out accidentally, but it just goes to show you that even his own attorney couldn’t seperate the two trials. I believe OJ is and was guilty of all charges. (including the charges 13 years ago) I also believe however, that there are a number of issues that would undoubtedly prove to be serious grounds for appeal(s) and a new trial. Judy G. OJ was set up that goes without saying, and the jury really got him, he was actually convicted for the 1995 crimes, I cant believe how the jury could not see that the so called friends of OJ’s were involved, and they went solely bt audio tapes, “BRING COCHRAN BACK”,any way best of luck to OJ, I love Yale Galanter, he is a great attorney, not to mention hot.

GO   October 6th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

This is a shame! I’m so deceived of this country judiciary system. What exactly are we finding him guilty of? Something that happened 13yrs ago or that ridiculous scenario that happened in Vegas? Was anybody really endangered?
Come on people!!!! Is convicting OJ going to wake up people from the dead?
For God sake; get over it! Pray for your lost ones. Everybody in this world has lost someone tragically.
This is another key that shows that racism in this great country is unfortunately not abolished yet. Had it been another person, this would have been a mistrial. Had it been a white person, nobody would have heard about this!
I’m not saying that we should let crimes unpunished but please, let’s focus on actual real harmful crimes (and God knows we have a bunch of those still awaiting trials).

Patty   October 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

For once, a high priced attorney couldn’t get O.J. out of these crimes. This reminds me a lot of The Scott Peterson case in the sense the at O.J. Simpson and Scott Peterson thought they could BUY a not guilty verdict.
I am very proud of the jury for doing such a good job, completely fair, and taking in account all the evidence before deciding on their verdict. This would not be an easy job for anyone.

Mr. Yale Galanter really thought he could OBJECT O.J. out of everything. I know he was doing his job, but he knows the law better than most of us, and should realize that these were crimes punishable by law.

O.J. has a lot of time to reflect on his life and ask God for forgiveness for all the bad things he has done. Fame and money cannot get you out of everything forever.
This has NOTHING to do with color… I knew Scott Peterson was a murderer, liar, and cheat all along. One last thing, I think the judge was fair to all the attorneys. She put the attorneys on both sides in their place more than one time during the trial. Give her some credit….
If I were on trial, I certainly would trust her in my case.

Miriam   October 6th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

People please, Guilty by association…isn’t that what our grandparents told us, watch who you hang around with. If they get caught doing something and you are with them, you are just as guilty. Don’t you tell your own children that when they have a friend you do not want them to hang around with. Birds of a feather flock together!!!! The other birds took plea deals - why, there must have been some people guilty of something?

roseann   October 6th, 2008 6:00 pm ET

You know what? Who cares about what monies those thugs made?!! Tell me what the purpose of “If I DID IT” was for? The simple fact is that OJ is guilty!! No way to dance around the truth. It doesnt change the facts!! Remember what your parents used to say… Be careful of the company you keep…You dont chang around thugs and not be just like them. It is now up to the judge to decide his fate.

eve   October 6th, 2008 6:07 pm ET

Its about time this killer is put away. Now the Browns and Goldman can rest, for he made his bed, now he can sleep in it.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Jury

Cindy Johnson   October 6th, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Finally, a Nevada jury does what a Califoria jury couldn’t - gets it right. I find it intersting that all these people feel this was such a miscarraige of justice - forcing someone to stay in a room is kidnapping in the State of Nevada and that’s the charge that carries the life in prison sentence - should he get it? That’s up to the judge, but I certainly would have no problem with him spending the rest of his life behind bars . . . finally justice for the Browns and Goldmans.

Barbara   October 6th, 2008 6:16 pm ET

Lets be real people OJ was going to get it one way or the other. He is mentioned on legal programs and is labled guilty of a crime of which he was aquitted of! Face it certain people would stop at nothing to get OJ, even if it meant setting up this weak plot to put him away. The losers he was associated with are likely all in on this is pathetic. Maybe someone should look for a money trail even for his co- defendant! Maybe now America will not have to hear about OJ every other month in the news or see some slim bag trying to make a dollar off of someone else’s misfortune…… but then again we are in America, right?

Debby   October 6th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

Where is justice? Two guys in Kansas City gunned down a bike rider for the fun of it and got 20 years. and OJ gets life for this? Only in America.

Ron-AZ   October 6th, 2008 6:53 pm ET

You are all forgetting one thing. OJ was also offered a plea deal but refused. OJ said he believed in the jury system.

MaryAnne   October 6th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

Tom Scotto said today that the jury’s verdict was careless. The only careless person in this story is his good friend O.J.

Rosie C   October 6th, 2008 7:42 pm ET

I was afraid one the jurors would be swept up in the ‘OJ celebrity charm’ - so nice to see that they just stuck to the evidence. He admitted he set the deal
