With a record like hers, how can she make judgement of others? I wonder how much abuse she put ole Ed through. We have not heard his side of the story. Enough already. TAKE HER OFF THE BENCH FOREVER. And Eddy needs to divorce her.

There is no mental condition known to american law as SNAPPING.
It is used as an excuse used unethical lawyers. The presumption of innocence is not understood by millions. The presumption of innocence is a presumption which comes into existence at the begining of the trial and NOT before. It simply means the burden of proof is on the prosecution tto prove the guilt of the accused. I am an attorney with more than 50 year of practice.

The outcome for neither of the Halversons is going to be good. I would imagine that Ed provided a significant amount of support to Elizabeth in order for her to manage her daily activities. The support that he most certainly has been providing would have to have included care with personal hygiene (bathing, grooming , dressing), care of or for medical matters, moving about the house, cooking, cleaning, transportation -- it seems unlikely that she could have managed many activities of daily living without 24/7 assistance. So what will happen now, who will replace Ed as full time care giver/attendant? I would predict that both will have new addresses in the not to distant future; for Ed this will be prison and for Elizabeth this will be a long term care facility. Will Elizabeth now be able to seek or claim long term disability financial support from the state? After all, she is still on the state's active payroll and within her legitimate term of office. Fascinating and pitiful what people can do to themselves and to others.

I must admit, the thought crossed my mind that she might be manipulative enough to hit herself with a frying pan and then blame him. The lengths some people will go to to screw up someone else. I watched some of the hearings, and had mixed emotions. As someone who has lost 100+ lbs, I understand why she is so ugly inside. As a woman, I agree NO ONE DESERVES to be beat with a frying pan, of all things. I think she needs psychiatric help, and perhaps so does Mr. Halverson. Seems they've driven each other crazy.

What does her being 'a pig' as Sadie (so eloquently and non prejudiced against morbid obesity) said, have to do with it? I know what the case is about, her unlawful treatment of others and abuse of authority...but what does it matter what she looks like?
That shows the world we live in. Looks are the bottom line. Killers better be good looking to get less jail time. Ugly is punishable by life either behind bars or even worse...free to roam about in the world.
She should be 'judged' by her actions not her physical condition. IF she had multiple sclerosis would you make fun of that too? Or would you concentrate on the ISSUE? Just wondering. God bless and do unto others. Amen. :)

She should have never been on the bench in the first place. Anything less than removal will be a miscarriage of justice.

Sad situation..
This lady hated herself so much she punished others to make herself feel important. She is self destructive and her husband finally said enough she was about to destory him in the process. IMHO think she is trying to kill herself because she in not trying to improve her situation (health, marriage, or career).

Instead of hitting her, he should have said a prayer and walked out.

Some people are self destructive they are like cancer. They spread and take out their self hate to everyone else and sometimes the 1st targets are the people closest to them.

Abuse is abuse. It should not be tolerated or excuses made for it. Period. The comments on here from you women make me disgusted. Whether you disagree with her as a judge is one thing. No one deserves to go through this.

She is a lousy person! She is a judge what else would you expect. Her husband just had enough and if I was married to her i would have had enough a long time ago.
