Massachusetts murder trial: In Session's live coverage

Posted: 08:21 AM ET

WOBURN, Massachusetts–Did a New Hampshire man brutally murder his ex-lover’s husband – and another man who stumbled across the crime – so that he and the victim’s wife could be together? Or is Sean Fitzpatrick an innocent man who simply had nothing to do with the shotgun killings of Michael Zammitti, Jr. and Chester Roberts on March 13, 2006?

That is the question being played out in a Woburn, Massachusetts courtroom, where the defendant faces two counts of first-degree murder – and the possibility of life imprisonment without parole.

Stay tuned to In Session's coverage of this new live trial. Testimony begins this morning.

As I have stated previously, this trial is a joke. As OJ would say, "He is absolutely, positively, 100% NOT GUILTY!

The best way to end an affair is never to begin it in the first place!

I would say the best way to end an affair is to accept the fact and walk away.

James   August 1st, 2008 12:53 pm ET

He is guilty! not doubt in my mind.

I think the defense established reasonable doubt when they questioned Michael Zammitti, Sr. It could have been anyone, including the ticked off nephew. Although I think the nephew probably would have went after Sr., not Jr. Although the other evidence (the toll pass) also points to Sean Fitzpatrick.

I think I'll wait until I hear more testimony before I make up my mind.

Suzanne   August 1st, 2008 1:57 pm ET

Guilty as Sin! He couldn't deal with the fact that she decided to stay with her husband. Hope he gets Life!

If palm, dna and e-z are delivered,
then buckle up Sean, it's up the river.

I think that anyone whose kills someone is crazy to begin with and to kill over a woman. Does this nut think the woman is going to think he is her night in shinning armor because he got rid of her husband.

Sean Fiztpatrick is guilty and needs to be thankful all he is staring at is life without parole and not the death penalty which he administred on two people. One with no knowledge of his existance.

I think when the wife stated to Fitzpatrick that she wouldn't leave her husband "unless something would happen to him" was a seed planted. I think they talked more about this together than anyone knows. I think she had a hand in it also.

I really feel for Michael Zammitti Sr. How hard this still must be for him and his wife. Fitzpatrick is guilty as sin!

You can have an affair and it not end like this. Don't know if the guy is guilty or not, and who's to say that she was not leading him on. There is three sides to ever story his side, her side and the truth. I worked in the court system for 15 years and have seen a lot as I set on the bench.

nancy   August 3rd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

two words: NOT GUILTY!

Doreen Tanzella   August 4th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

The wife never said "unless something would happen to him". I'm referring to a comment made in these postings. People need to LISTEN. In the end the facts will convict.

I Have Know Chester Roberts "The Other Victim" In This Case For Over 30 years.....He Was A WONDERFUL Man With A Heart Of Gold And He Was Taken From Us By This Selfish And Evil Man Sean Fitzpatrick Who Seemed To Think That His Happiness Is All That Mattered In This Life , Not Anyone Elses....Shame On Him And I Hope He Rots In Prison !

I think that anyone who takes the stand says something about their innocense. I know it looks bad, but he must realize that he is going to be put through the mill and is willing to do that to prove he never committed these crimes. I hope not. But when you play with fire your going to have to pay for it one way or the other. Adultery is a serious offence and it has its consequences.
