Neil Entwistle: Was he crying?

Don't insult us. This guy (Neil Entwistle) WAS LAUGHING. Take a good look at Stephanie Page and her body language. She is incredulous, embarrassed, & shocked with her eyes dashing back & forth as if to say: "what are you doing!"

Of course he was crying! the guy had tears around his eyes!!

You people really want to bring him down don't you!

I think the guy is guilty – but i think he did it to afford his wife the hardship of realizing their life wasn't as happy as she was lead to believe

He is greiving terribly! And i can bet he is absolutely regretting doing what he did!!
It's obvious he loved his family -but got into major debt, was afraid to work it out w/ his wife/ panicked and did some stupid things!!

whether or not he was smiling/laughing, he did not have tears or his body even shake to match his "stretched smile". Usually, a "normal" person will be so shocked that his body, just not his face will move. He was faking the pain for the jurors. After the video he was totally cool and composed and smiled at his family.

His attorneys are the perfect match for the defendant since they show extreme arrogance and think too much of themselves. Mr. Einstein is terrible boring and I cannot understand why the State has not objected to his repetitious questions.

I watched this video several times and it sure looks to me like he was smiling or maybe I should say it was more of a smurk. Sure didn't appear to be any tears around his eyes.

Well I watched it a number of times, and just the sight of him peeking through his fingers looked like a "naughty boy" seeing what he had done. I didn't se a tear in either eye. (note to defense, bring in a baggie of chopped onions and let him take a wiff). Some people do have odd behavior, he sure did. I think he's crazy like a fox and the defense doth protest(ed) too much yesterday. I think he will be convicted. I sure hope so.

It appears that Mr. Entwistle had to work very hard to evoke the tears. The overly-animated expression covered with his hand was a case of acting (poorly) like he was trying a little too hard to appear to be crying until some real tears could be evoked.

Yes, I think he was crying part of the time.....what amazed me was that he kept looking at the video. I could never have looked up..maybe once to what was coming then not again till it was over. He is guilty as heck. No doubt about it.
I wish somone would discuss what meal was left out on the kitchen table? May give more insight as to when he actually did kill them...was it breakfast, luch or prep for the dinner party. Also, why didn;t the Matterazo's go into the home and do a closet and room search??? I find that strange. Also, what about checking footprints in and around the house..surely the ""intruder"" did not come down the chimmney.

I have a comment about the Entwistle trial. Yesterday I came walked in the room when Entwistle was crying with his hand over his mouth. I did not know what had just happened or what he was watching. It looked like to me when he moved his hand that he was smiling or laughing. I really did not think that much about it because I did not know what was going on in the courtroom at that time. Now I hear today all the comments about him laughing. Most people if they do not shed a tear during the trial they cry when they are found guilty, so lets wait and see what he does at the end of the trial. Maybe he cries with what we thought was a smile. He will probably cry at the end totally different without even a hint of a smile. Let's wait and see. Thanks, Joyce in Umatilla, Fl.

I watched the video very closely several times. Every time I watched, I came to the same conclusion: Entwistle was trying to conceal the fact that he couldn't control his own amusement. He was covering his mouth and doing his best not to laugh out loud. There is no doubt about it. If you look at his face between the times when his mouth is covered, you see that he is smiling. I don't know what was so funny to him – that remains a mystery. But he definitely was NOT crying at all – he was trying to hide his amusement. And if you look at his lawyer, sitting beside him, you see that she was disturbed by his reactions, not sympathetic or comforting as she would have been if he had been crying.

It was almost as though he did not realize that a smile was emerging!!!

I beleive Neil Entwistle was trying to react to something that he did not know how to react to. No, it probably wasn't laughter, even though it looks that way. Remember the nanny that was accused of shaking and killing the infant she cared for, she laughed when her attorney asked her if she killed the baby. That laughter did not seem to affect the jury, she was found not guilty. They obviously looked at the facts they were given and not nervious behavior.

My first thought when I saw the video was that he was laughing. He looked like he was trying to force himself to cry. I haven't seen any real emotion from this guy since this whole thing started. I think he is a very disturbed guy and that he is guilty of the charges against him. If he thinks a few crocodile tears are going to save him from prison, the he is even more stupid than he has already presented himself to be.

Mr Entwistle's reactions to the tapes was reported today by his angry stoic attorney as "grieing". She herself sat stoically and expressionless by his side without offering him a tissue to wipe his tears or even a touch on his shoulder for comfort. She failed her client yesterday by allowing him to be seen "grieiving" without the support of a caring attorney. The press did its job by reporting what was seen by many via TV, and those in the courtroom. Her anger this morning was misdirected.

I do believe he was crying, only because he was crying for himself. How can anyone even think this guy isnt guilty? It's people who even have a doubt that are the really scarey ones. Dont be so naive.

Ok, you cant tell me he was crying. I saw no tears . I saw him covering his smile and almost laughing. I have never seen anybody in my life-time with such a big smile as they cried.

I watched this whole video yesterday and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Not once did I think he was crying no tears were visible. It's like whenever something gruesome or unlikely appeared on screen he would hide his face and laugh. I saw no sympothy from him at all whatsoever. How can you feel good about something like that these are suppose to be your loved ones.

If you can kill your wife and baby they need to find you guilty and you need to rot behind bars or get the death penalty.You ran to your parents thinking they would protect you and who protected your wife and baby?

I am curious, did Entwistle owed money to shady characters? Therefore, they killed the family and framed him for not being able to collect from him. He panicked and fled the country for fear for his own life.

If Entwistle was crying where were tears. Things do not always appear as they are, but it did not appear that he was crying. I looked for the tears and did not see any.

Neil Entwistle wasn't smiling, but he was confronted with the horror of what he had done to his family and reacted. He must feel some guilt/regret for his actions to be crying so profoundly.

It sure does look like he is smiling...there were no visable tears...looks like he couldn't take his eyes off the screen...I guess he wanted to see his work just like most killers...

He was crying because he realized what was going to happen to him in prison. As well he should be. Hopefully torture every day!!!

In all of my 57 years, I have never, ever, seem crying that could be mistaken for laughter. Those muscles used for crying and laughter are different.

I know Weinstein is defending Mr. Entwistle about the whole laughing/crying during the crime scene footage. But from what i see watching the video of Entwistle's face during the footage, it looks like a man pretending to cry while really laughing inside. I mean usually when someone is crying you see tears. I didnt see any tears, what i saw was a smile on his face. Lets not all lie to ourselves now. He has to be guilty. If you really loved someone (in this case YOUR FAMILY) and found them dead, and it really wasnt you who killed them, wouldnt you want to find their murderers and call police ASAP!!!???? Not fly out of the country with no word???!!!

I seen the tape and thought right away that he was laughing for lack of tears. I am so glad to see others seen the same thing.It wasn't just me.

I think if one is trying to cry, the face becomes distorted as Neil Entwistle's as one brings up the sides of the mouth to squeeze shut the eyes.

If one's emotions wells up naturally from deep sadness, there is, I think, no way the sides of the mouth come up looking like a 'smile'.

What does the press want? They were all over Scott Peterson for showing NO emotion (he's guilty as sin, by the way) and now they're all over Entwistle for showing some.
True, it does appear he's laughing at times and I believe he is just a guilty as Scott Peterson but it looked like he was crying at times as well.
Had it been me at the defense table, guilty or not, I would have turned my head away from the video.

At first glance while I was watching the live courtroom drama unfold, it seemed to be he was smiling at the pictures that were being viewed. But, as it went on, I could sense that he was in fact crying at it, maybe over remorse of what happened, or something as that.

I watched in horror at the clip showing the defendents reactions to seeing the tape of his wife and child's bodies, he appeared to be laughing, and he could not stop looking at the tape, I am convinced he was indeed laughing.

I would be too grief stricken. I just couldn't. I studied his face as he looked at them and he definately was laughing. He is a monster.

Okay, I just watched that video and was paying close attention to his expressions. It looked like he was trying to give the sembalance of crying, but I swear to god it really looked like he was smiling and covering his mouth to hide it. That didn't look like a genuine expression of grief to me. It definately did not look like sadness.

I realize everyone shows emotion different; however, I have never seen anyone smile instead of frown while crying. I do believe the man was crying but he should have hidden his face more, because I'm sure some of the jurors are wondering if that was a smile or not. Hopefully his attorney will clear that up a little during closing arguements.

I watched the video over & over & the man was not crying he was laughing..

It looked like laughter to me, with a few forced tears thrown in for good measure. If you were really that emotionally overwrought that your mouth gapes open, the natural bodily response to that would be a flood of tears I would think. Not just a few measly droplets which were barely visible. I thought it looked like the maniacal smile of someone totally mad, and then trying to squeeze out a few tears to cover up because he knows of course that cameras as well as courtroom onlookers would be watching his every move.

The clip you are showing of Neil doesn't "clearly" show that he was laughing. There was one part that showed him laughing almost uncontrollably. THAT'S the part that you need to show your viewers!

I expect he is crying, but even if he is laughing, it should not be taken as a sign of guilt. It is not uncommon for people to have inappropriate responses in times of stress.

When I was eighteen years old, I was a passenger in a car that rearended another car on I-95 near Washington DC. The other car flipped over the guardrail, and as the driver (of my car) and I ran to see if there were any injuries, I could not stop laughing. Strangely, my mind was clear, I was not panicked, not injured myself, and I knew laughter was the inappropriate response, yet it was uncontrollable.

Neil Entwistle - guilty or innocent - is probably in one of the most stressful situations he'll ever be in in his life. It could be that something struck him as funny and set him off. He knows this is a bad time for him to laugh, he tries to stop ... and hence the tears.

There is another problem with Mr. Entwistle's story. The police testified that they didn't know the cause of death of Rachel until the autopsy. Why would Neil assume that she was murdered and didn't die of something like carbon monoxide?

I don’t know any father who would be smiling while watching the crime scene of their young child’s death. Entwistle looked like he was smiling and to me it makes me think he is a psychopath, who can't handle reality.

i had chill's going down my spine to see the Neil Entwistle force the tears out of his eye's , the crime detail's itself is heart felt by every mother watching this trial, the detail and evidence points to him, i cant understand why he just left them in that state why he did not call the police and say something they had to be found according to the trial three days later, i hope he knows no matter what lies he tell to us as viewer's and to the family he can never lie to God, cause he was the witness to this crime he seen him when he committed it. he has to understand no matter what he will live with the faces of his wife and child looking at him even in his sleep asking the question why did you take away my life.......

I cannot figure if Entwistle was so distraught how was he able to do all the flower ordering for his wife and daughter's funeral? He even did the ordering for his parents. I suppose Neil's parents were in a worse way than he was and were unable to order flowers. Therefore, Neil had to step up to the plate and do everything for them.

I watched the video clip of Neil Entwistle supposedly crying and it gave me chills. For one thing, I was looking for real tears and not a drop fell down his face. He had his hand over his mouth so at first I did think he was crying, but when I noticed no tears, I also noticed at one point it almost appeared as if he was holding his hand over his face to hide his smile or as if he were laughing.

It did not look real to me, but a show put on for the Juriors. It also struck me funny the way he would put his head down and then peak back up to view the pictures. Who in their right mind would be able to view pictures of thier wife and nine month old baby laying dead? I would not be able to look at all and he was not turning away from the pictures very long at all. It looked totaly staged for the purpose of the Jurors to me.

When I seen that video it did look like he was laughing. He is sicker then Scott Peterson. this is a sad world when all these men are killing their wives and babies

I believe he did kill his wife and baby daughter and he has gotten exactly what he deserves but there is that part of me that is saying what if he did find them that way and just reacted in a very inconsistent way?? The detectives really didn't check all areas of the crime scene like they should have. Crazier things have happened before. I mean, it's hard for me to understand why any man would think it was easier to kill their wife than to just leave her. In Neil's case it would even be easier for him to leave than someone that resides here in the US. All he would have to do is go back to the UK and not return. There has to be more to this story than we all are being told because it just doesn't make sense to me. What was his motive??? It surely could not have just been because he was in a financial crunch or because he wanted a different kind of sex....that is not a reason to kill someone. It's not like he had embezzled money or had had numerous affairs...I just can't see a really good reason that he felt so desperate in using such drastic measures. It just doesn't all add up for me and so I do have that reasonable doubt within me that says, "maybe just maybe he didn't do it?"
