WOBURN, Massachusetts –The Commonwealth called a parade of witnesses today to corroborate prosecution witness Joe Matterazzo’s alibi for Friday, January 20, 2006–the day 27-year-old Rachel Entwistle and nine-month-old Lillian Rose were murdered. Matterazzo, Rachel’s stepfather, is the owner of the .22 caliber revolver used to kill Rachel and her baby. His whereabouts that day were fully accounted for, according to co-workers.

New information came out today from Matterazzo. It turns out that Entwistle called him daily from England for four consecutive days after the murders–January 23 through January 26. On one of those days, Entwistle told Matterazzo that he wanted Rachel and Lillian to be buried together “because that’s the way I left, I mean, I found them.” Entwistle never admitted to killing them but he did say to his father-in-law: “Joe, I don’t know how things got like this.”

Rachel’s mother, Priscilla, and her husband, Joe Matterazzo, sit in the front row of the public gallery on the opposite side of the courtroom from the Entwistles. I’ve seen no interaction between the families.

Beth, on the first day of the trial it sounded like the court officer said that Rachel and Lillian were beaten AND shot. If that is true why haven’t we heard about beating injuries?

THe law does not work this way but as for me, he is guilty and the defence has the burden to prove him innocent. Common sence of guilt if I were to go just on his actions .

This guy is as guilty as O.J. . To make matters worse, it seems that his lawyer is trying to shift suspicion onto his father-in-law. Neil Entwistle should receive the death penalty (I would prefer the electric chair that way his lawyer can sit on his lap).

If you find your loves ones shot to death you do not run to England!!

This comment is in regards to the question stated, Is it ok to have guns in the house?

Its best to have protection and not use it, then to need it and not have it all.

Thank You,

Ashleigh, remember the old adage– “it’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for”. I lost a beloved relative to a “quiet one”. Her second husband committed murder -suicide. No one ever suspected he had a violent nature. He was quiet, loving and fawned over her. People should not be fooled by “quiet ones.”

As to the comments that Mr. Entwistle does not look like a “monster”, I have two words….Theodore Bundy. Looks are, indeed, very decieving.

It is strange that Neil Entwistle admitted to “finding” the bodies, but the police did not find them on the initial search of the house the evening of January 21.. Did the police actually look at the bed in the master bedroom and see no bodies in it? Is it possible Rachel and Lillian were killed elsewhere and then put in the house by someone other than Neil Entwistle since he had left for England before the initial police search? Also, Ms. Gately left the garage and connecting door unlocked after the initial police search the evening of January 21. Is it possible the bodies were put in the house (by someone other than Entwistle) between the police searches on January 21 and January 22?

Also, why were the Matterazzos not aware of someone coming into their house to get a gun and then to return it? Did they ever notice the gun was missing?

Sheila Beers   June 10th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

For another matter, where had Neil Entwistle been before he found his wife and daughter murdered? Can his whereabouts be corroborated?

After watching many trials and TV shows in the crime drama and real life genere, my faith in humanity has faultered due to the attrocious things I have seen done by one person upon another. But a person, FRIEND, like Miss Gately seems to restore my faith in people. These are the types of actions and character that give one the strength to continue the fight.
Rachel and Lilly were lucky to have been surrounded by lovely family and friends while they were alive.
P.S. Entwhistle”s attny. and his assoc. have no courtroom style. Their attitudes and manner in their cross leaves a bad taste. I wonder if the Jury feels the same way. I would watch my ‘tude and how I speak to the witnesses if I were them. They will aalienate the jury and that is irrepairable.

Police said food was on the table–which meal? Breakfast? Lunch?
Dinner party prep? May give more indication of when murder happened.
Unexplained footprints around the house? No one mentions that fact. No break-in? Not mentioned.

Mother in bed with baby-I don’t beliece it was “posed”. Most mom lie down with their babies after a bath, before bed….maybe she and Neil we already sleeping apart. Seems normal that her watch and glasses were on the floor aside of bed.

Please explain the $85.00 worth of candles that he bought.

Did the polioce record the conversation between Mr Matterazzo and
Mr. Entwistle ? He did call for 4 consecutive days and i supposes he did let police know about these calls.

I watch the show every day . I have seen Mr Entwistle smiling many times during the trial. His lawyers may say he was not laughing , but i know what I have seen in many other occations.

Everybody says that ” they were the perfect couple”

They said the same thing about Scot Peterson and Lindsys in laws were on his side until the real Scott Peterson came out.

Don’t judge the book by his cover. I just hope this mother and baby get true justice.

I hope this trial does not turn out to be another O J Simpson trial

or a Spector trial , or the man that killed his in laws while ” sleep waking” ( I still Can’t get over that one)

The police officer that killed his 9 months pregnant girlfriend and left his toddler alone for days and then he gets life. If the death penalty
really needed to be executed , this was the case for it.

Last comment. ” AND JUSTICE FOR SOME ”

I have a question and a comment. Has anyone questioned the paternity of the female infant?
Mr Entwistle appears to be preoccupied with pornography and escort services, are these the actions of a happily married man? Could he have opened the door to sinful nature? It has been proven that watching porn creates a chemical reaction in the brain. Look at the fallen great evangelical preachers of our time, they admit it happened to them. Could Mr. Entwistle have a personality disorder? (Jeckle & Hyde) He could portray himself as a loving and doting spouse and father, only Rachael knew him behind closed doors!

JOANNE HAGEN   June 16th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

I THINK THE STEP BROTHER WAS VERY NERVOUS WHEN QUESTIONED ON THE STAND. I CAN’T GET THAT OUT OF MY MIND.
COUL’D SOMETHING HAVE HAPPENED BETWEEN RACHEL & THE STEP BROTHER, MAYBE EARLIER ON, OR EVEN RECENTLY BEFORE THE MURDERS
