Entwistle jury selection: 130 questioned so far

Posted: 09:50 AM ET

WOBURN, Massachusetts–After two days of jury selection, the court has questioned 130 potential jurors in the case of Neil Entwistle, on trial for the shooting deaths of his 27-year-old wife, Rachel, and infant daughter, Lillian, in January 2006.

Of the 130 potential jurors, 24 have been qualified – 9 men, 15 women. The court wants to empanel a jury of 12 plus 4 alternates.

This morning, the court will seat the first 16 qualified jurors. The Commonwealth and the defense can each exercise 16 peremptory challenges. Depending on how many (if any) challenges are used, the 16 seats will be filled by the remaining 8 qualified jurors.

If a jury cannot be seated by these 24 qualified jurors, the court will dip back into the pool to qualify more jurors.
